He was able to fit us into his schedule the same day he came out to evaluate the damage, and quickly and efficiently fixed the problem. The second time we called him was when we were experiencing pooling water in our basement. He came and successfully snaked the sewer when others hadn't been able to in the past, which resolved the pooling water. He also removed our basement toilet and sink that had been partially causing the backups. He's great to work with but is a little challenging to schedule, since he is sometimes unable to give firm dates for when he'll return to do work. For our second repair he came out to assess damage on a Friday then said he could come back Monday or Tuesday, and showed up Tuesday. So, he's definitely reliable, but maybe not the best choice if you need work completed immediately and at a specific time. And he definitely is pretty pricy. However, we'll likely continue to use him for all our non-urgent plumbing needs since he gets the job done.

My home warranty sent this company out when my 20-year-old AC stopped working. The technician…read morerepaired it, but it stopped working again within a week. He came back out, made another repair, and the AC stopped working again before the end of that same day. When we contacted him again, we were told that the unit needed $800 worth of maintenance and that he would send us an estimate with a discount toward replacement because, according to him, replacement was really what the unit needed. My fiancé called again after the AC stopped working and was told that if they came back out, we would be charged $800. We were confused because our home warranty is supposed to cover a portion of a replacement if the unit is determined to be unrepairable. The way the situation was explained to us made it sound like we needed to pay $800 for maintenance before the warranty would consider replacement. Our unit is 20 years old, and spending $800 to clean/maintain it didn't make sense to us, especially after it had already been repaired twice and continued to fail. We got a second opinion from an HVAC professional with more than 30 years of experience, and we were advised that the unit should be replaced and that putting a new compressor into a 20-year-old system was not worth the cost. Very frustrating experience. The AC still wasn't properly resolved, and we were left feeling like we were being pushed toward paying for maintenance on a system that another experienced HVAC professional said should simply be replaced.

In all 3 instances the communication was clean, response time was exceptional, the schedule milestones were all hit and the quality was top notch. In 2017 we had a full blown basement remodel to include adding a full bar with ice maker, oven and kegeartor, a living area, 2 TVs and a full bathroom. About 1,000 square feet of unfinished space was turned into great space to entertain, watch football and create memories. This is the only contractor I will use for any future home remodeling needs.

The one star is for being charged twice, once for $1156.56 at 1:15pm and then for $1099 at 2:13pm on August 8th for a water heater that was supposed to cost $1099, and for being gaslit by two people after calling twice to report the double-charge and sending a photo of a screenshot of my bank transactions clearly showing that I was charged twice. On August 8, 2025, at 10:35 am, a technician from Greater Pittsburgh Plumbing was dispatched to my home for a leaking water heater and suspicion of leaking pipes due to some water damage to ceiling tiles in my basement. I paid the dispatch fee of $59.00 from my checking account using my debit card on July 18, 2025. Thankfully, the water damage was old, so I only needed a replacement water heater. I agreed to have my water heater replaced for the price of $1099. The water heater was replaced, and Greater Pittsburgh Plumbing charged my debit card for $1156.56 at 1:15 pm, which was the time that the job was complete. I thought the total may have included the dispatch fee (I forgot I paid this in July) or tax, so I wasn't alarmed that the charge was $56.56 over the $1099 price I was quoted. Then, my card was charged again for $1099 at 2:13 pm for one gas water heater that was supposed to cost $1099. Because both are pending transactions, I was directed by my bank to contact the vendor. When I called, I was gaslit by two different people, who told me I must be mistaken because they don't have the capability to double-charge, blamed my bank, and suggested I dispute the transaction as my only recourse. I called Greater Pittsburgh Plumbing at 2:36 pm, as soon as I saw that I was charged $1099 as a second charge, and spoke to Madison, explaining that I had been charged twice for the water. Madison proceeded to gaslight me, stating that the company can't double-charge and requested I email a picture of my pending transactions. I emailed a picture of my pending transactions, as requested (see photo). Hailey, who answered the second time I called, confirmed that she received and could view the picture, but still proceeded to tell me that Greater Pittsburgh Plumbing cannot double-charge me. She then blamed my bank and told me I could dispute the transaction. I informed Hailey that the transaction information was identical for both charges. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I will update my review if the BBB complaint is addressed by Greater Pittsburgh Plumbing. Update 8.15.2025: Greater Pittsburgh Plumbing addressed my BBB complaint and refunded the additional $1156.56 charge on August 13th. I am thankful that they addressed this mistake promptly.

The techs were very nice, especially the younger apprentice who came and made our dog much more reassured, as he sometimes gets nervous and barks incessantly when strangers are in our home. What we didn't like was the fact that we were automatically entered into their $97/year "savings" program. When we questioned why our receipt didn't reflect the alleged discount, we were told that firstly, our tech entered us into the savings program to save $300. We asked why the total didn't reflect that and were told that the discount was taken out on the receipt, yet they don't show you what it is. If that is true, two toilet installs, a valve replacement and bidet attachment install was nearly $2,000. It also took 5 days to receive the said receipt. Overall, we'll be looking for another, more affordable plumber.
