One thing I love when I snowboard, is GOOD SNOW! Maybe it's because the month before I experienced awful snow in Cali. Or Maybe it's because the snow on the mountain here is one of the best in the United States. I've been to a few places in three different states, and I am no expert. But, what I can tell you is that I was very impressed by the runs, the snow, and the area! This ski resort def gets my stamp of approval!! There is one note I would say, I do wish some of the runs weren't so narrow. I like areas that are wide and where you don't feel like you're going to fly off into the trees. Love this resort. My aunt and uncle brought me here on a Monday. Accustomed to dodging hordes of ankle biters and out of control newbies (boards or skis, it doesn't matter when they can't stop) in the Tahoe area, I was absolutely astonished at the wide open and empty slopes. Especially when my aunt and uncle told me, in all seriousness, that this was the busiest they'd seen the resort in the past few weeks. I took a lesson, and highly recommend the teachers at this resort. It was probably the best skiing lesson I've ever had, really informative and focused without the "erhm, just do it" and testosterone that I've become accustomed to in teachers at ski resorts. Definitely helped my technique and was a lot of fun. Since I enjoy the blues and greens (but not bunny hills), I'm not sure what's out there for the more extreme folks, but if you consider yourself an intermediate skier who wants to get out there and have a fun day of slopes without the near death experience of Vail, etc., this is an awesome awesome resort. read more

Molly's Green is the place to stop for good food and good drinks. Right by the ski lifts and the waitresses and bartenders are very nice. Barb was my waitress one of the 4 times i went here and she was awesome! If you can ask for her. You won't be disappointed. read more

My family and I are visiting from California and made the short trip from Park City to Brighton yesterday. We loved it! It's sad but we were surprised by how nice everyone was. Every person we talked to from the ticket window to the pro shop, snack bar, photographers and lift staff was super friendly. The snow was awesome too. We had a full day of snowboarding and had a great time. Hope we make it back again soon. read more

Brighton has a great deal in January! Go to their website and print out the voucher! For $45 for rentals, lesson, and a lift ticket (for the Explorer & Majestic). This was the second time we've come to Utah for snowboarding, and we always spend our first three days here :] The drive up the mountain is pretty long, I think I saw 15 miles or so, but the scenery is beautiful! This year we went on MLK weekend so it was packed on Monday! We came again on Tuesday and Wednesday and it was empty :] The staff is super friendly! One of the guys remembered me from the last time I was there so he was striking up a conversation with my being from Hawaii... Super cool guy. We took a couple of refresher courses since we havent been in snow in a year. The instructors were great! Its a 2 hour lesson, and you can choose which level you want to do. I thought this was a very good place for beginners. This was my second time snowboarding and I definitely felt safest at Brighton. The green trails from the Majestic Lift were wide and fun to go down. There were a good amount of spots where I could practice my S-turns and not get super frustrated with falling down :p And Explorer is great when its empty! Its pretty long for a bunny slope and good place to practice your turns :] While we were taking the lessons, the boys were trying out the different trails. They went up all the lifts (Great Western, Snake, Crest, & Millie) and enjoyed all of them. Brighton, we'll see you next year! read more

Not crowded at all today, Friday. You would wait less than a minute at the lifts. Granted, it was snowing all morning, but the afternoon turned out to be really nice. I think this place was not designed for boarders since there are flat areas. If you're a boarder, you just gotta plow through the Snake Creek Express area or else you'd be walking. You know, I really don't have an opinion on Brighton. It's a cool little mountain, nice night riding/skiing, cool people working there, pretty busy place, but the mountain was just kind of blah. $65 for a lift ticket isn't bad, but it was a bit pricey compared to other mountains. Lots of flats that you really have to bomb, the area was tracked out pretty quickly as well for having 10" come in the night before. Not one thing really stands out for me here. No awesome run and outside a few powder stashes, it was just a mellow, cruising day. Not that this is bad, but nothing to kick it up to 4 stars in my book. Nice place, pretty cool, but I'd hit Powder Mountain if I was in Utah again. read more

Brighton is a great blend of big resort conveniences and small resort isolation. The wide runs offer so many opportunities to take advantage of the natural terrain - it effectively multiplies the amount of runs available. Despite visiting early in the season, there were plenty of runs open to keep us occupied for the day we visited. Oddly enough, with only one run open, I still particularly enjoyed the Milly side - so open that each time down the slope was an opportunity to try something different than the run before. Void of the egos and long lift lines you'll find at Snowbird but more populous than Solitude, Brighton was the goldilocks of our recent vacation. read more

My son and I both recently took lessons at Brighton and had completely different experiences. My son had a good experience. Mine was not great and a complete waste of money. The difference was the size of the group. My son had 3 people. I had 8 people and only 1 instructor. We actually had another instructor but for reasons I cannot understand, the instructors agreed that only 1 instructor was needed. That was such a mistake. In 2 1/2 hours, we did only 3 runs and while I think the instructor was good, he just could not really help all 8 of us. I learned almost nothing. Be ware if your group is more than 3 or 4 if there is only instructor! read more

Snowboarder friendly!! My thighs are thankful for the easy access between lifts - unlike other resorts in the area, you don't have to go through long stretches of flatness (aka strap out and hike) just to get to other lifts or the other side of the mountain. Dining selection is somewhat limited - seems like most people brought brown bags. We ate at Milly's Greens at the bottom of the Milly Express lift; decent selection with enormous portions. Lift tickets usually run you $58, but you can buy discounted ones elsewhere for $50-52. read more

Brighton was the first mountain I skied in Utah (ever) so I had nothing to compare it to at first. Excellent, friendly ski instructors who went out of their way to help us out individually. The facilities at Brighton are sparse (to say the least) and the mountain probably attracts more die-hard skiers and less tourists for this reason. If you are looking for a cushy ski experience, Brighton is probably not the place for you. It works if you want a straight-forward ski date and you can hit the slopes hard without too much fluff. read more

I heart Brighton. Great snow, not too crowded, easy parking (as long as you arrive early) and the trails are awesome. Only downfall is that there aren't many options for dining or amenities and there isn't an actual town up there. So if you are looking for a day ski/board spot this is great. If you are looking for a ski vacation and to experience the area I would suggest the resorts in Park City. Although there is a mountain pass to Park City from here it's often closed during the winter. read more

I purchased a 5 pack of tickets that I wanted to upgrade to a pass for my kid. They won't respond to emails trying to work this out and they never answer the phone either. I've emailed many times asking for a little help and swapping dollars but notta from them. I've even gone so far as to buy my daughter a pass anyway. I get that these are supposed to be non-refundable but a total lack of response? Terrible customer service. I'll never spend any more money with them if I can help it. read more

I heart this place. I been snowboarding here for 8 years now? Long enough to know I like this joint. They're the cheapest around (discount tix available for $56/day vs. $80+ at the Bird and Park City) and the snow can be AWESOME on a powder day. The runs are pretty good (I hear they have a great ski school which could account for so many beginners), but you have to watch out for beginners (I've dodged quite a few in my day. My brother broke this kids nose once---guess he was out of control and slammed into the back of my 250+, 6'2" brother--so just be careful). Head to Milly Express if you want un-groomed powder and double black diamonds (diamonds are a girls best friend). Another cool perk is that kids under 7 ski free. Rentals are $30 and are not my favorite. I rented last week twice (rode twice here last week) and had much better board and boots from a dealer in town (Canyon Sports off Fort Union). Both were the same price. It was nice not to have to carry gear of a super packed bus (the ski bus picks up at multiple locations and stops at Alta and Brighton, kinda pricey at $3.75 each way, but your only choice if you don't have chains for your car or 4-wheel drive). They have lockers available for rent at $1 each time you open (that can be a little tricky so read the inside for directions, it also likes to eat quarters - lost $2 before we moved locations). If you don't want to pay for over-priced food at the lodge, bring your own. They also have a brown-bag area - the lodge says "no outside food or drink" but I've never seen this enforced. Be safe out there and don't forget your goggles! read more

Had a fantastic ski trip to Brighton! My husband and I took an intermediate group lesson with Don. He was AWESOME we learned and improved a lot! We highly recommend his skiing expertise. He explained and demonstrated perfectly... Even his jokes were good, his wife warned him not to tell, but, we had a good chuckle or two! Also, our 16 year old son enjoyed his beginner group lesson as well with Laura. He is now improved enough to ski intermediate and is passing us already! Maybe I'm overshooting my daily quota or I'm running out of quirky and smart ass catch-phrases. This review is going to be simple. Went during opening season November 2009. Board and Boot rental - 125.00 Lift Tickets - 56.50 Burger @ Restaurant w/soda - 11.50 Skiing in WHITE OUT conditions = priceless Would have gotten 5 stars, but only 2 lifts were open, long line on lifts and I got yelled at for peeing in the snow behind a tree. read more

I've visited on 2 separate trips in the past 2 years. What really stood out was their tree runs, ranging from tracked out trails with scattered trees to thicker and steeper runs with untouched pow. Overall their terrain is very beginner friendly; I went back with a more novice crew and that was the most fun we all had as a group. They had never been in trees so I took them to runs that already had skier lines and everyone was able to follow and was really hyped up. But be careful of obstacles in there when there's a lot of snow - I have a video riding through trees and all of a sudden i dropped off the roof of a cabin totally invisible and covered in snow (as did my friend following me), and both years I've encountered the same small cliff drop-off in the middle of a tree-run (about 5-7 feet high but totally blind). I'll try to freeze frame and upload pics! One thing that annoyed me about this place was that I got stuck all the time! If you are one of those that wanders off-trail to make your own tracks it's awesome for a good stretch but you always end up knee-deep on a flat in the middle of nowhere. I'll give some negative feedback for handling a power outage poorly. There were people dangling on lifts for over an hour! And the entire time they kept telling customers to stay, and assured us they'd be up and running again "at any moment" just to prevent us from leaving. They refused to refund discount tickets bought from local shops so we stuck around for a couple of hours (eventually went to solitude when it was apparent they weren't going to get their lifts back up). They should probably get 3 stars, but I'll give them half more and round up for the fun and crazy times we all had. read more

I miss it horribly. The Wasatch range has a slew of great ski areas. Alta is storied, Snowbird huge, Snowbasin has the amazing views and the Olympic runs, the Canyons huger than huge... ...but somehow I always came back to Brighton. Tips: 1. during the week, this is the place to come on a powder day. It you are with someone who knows the mountain,, or know the mountain, you know you can do freshies until one p.m. Wren Hollow and Powder Alley are often overlooked. Okay. I just made some enemies by mentioning that. 2. Cafeteria: Cheese fries are by far the best deal there. Eat with fry sauce for a serious carb burst. 3. Buy your lift ticket in the valley for a discount, or find someone selling tickets on CL from their ticket book. 4. For learning to ski or snowboard, sign up for a group lesson any time before Christmas break. It will be essentially just you and the instructor, and you might even have a senior instructor supervising. 5. Bought discounted lift tickets at a local ski shop. This mountain is smaller than the others (park city, canyons) but I really enjoyed this mountain. It was powdery when I went which made it more enjoyable. Since the mountain was smaller I was able to do a majority of the trails (I avoid the diamonds, they're usually either moguls, trees or too steep for me). The views were spectacular and it was not crowded at all. No wait for the lifts. Didn't see too many kids or beginners here either. Mountain was also easy to navigate. read more

I Love Brighton. Here's why: * Kids can ski the entire mountain and feel like a king. Can't do that at Snowbird or Alta * Great lifts. Snake Creek, kids favorite lift - laps all day. Great Western, great lift. Crest Express, fun. Explorer - as good as Chickadee to teach a 3 year old how to ski. Majestic - keeps the snowboarders off of everything else. * Snowboarders love the terrain park. It is fun to ride up Majestic and watch them and drop in on occasion. * Lodge - the best in Utah. We seriously don't need any of this overpriced gaudy resort stuff. Huge deck, eat your sack lunch upstairs, and easy access for the kids when they get cold. * Night Skiing. Don't have time during the day? Best place to get in your turns. * Ticket Price - does not entirely break the bank. Though I am not sure how anyone can afford to take three kids skiing anymore. * Pure Utah. Locals only please. If you want a $15 sandwich, go to Park City. * Lines - used to be a big problem at Brighton, not anymore. Wish list: * Used to be that kids under 12 skied for free, now it's only six and under. It was very unlike Brighton to change that policy. * Please don't go corporate (owned by CNL) like your Big Cottonwood Canyon sister at Solitude. Solitude lost its soul when it built all of those condos, huge lodges, and went corporate. Let's hope Brighton can hold out as long as possible. * What's up with the huge hike up a snow bank from the ticket counter to Majestic? I would put a nicely designed set of stairs on my Christmas list. read more

I love this place. My finace and I came on vacation to Park City the first week of December and unfortunately only a few runs were open. After receiving helpful advice from an employee of Park City Sport, we made the trip to Brighton for Quad Wednesday - $25 lift ticket if you bring a donation - and we were so glad we did. This is the place all the local park rats go. Park City has a better park, but this one's good for riding with your friends. Brighton has the best tree runs and stays fresh all day after a strom, if you know where to look. Night skiing is fun, but damn cold. There's lots of nice groomers. My friends and I are skiing this week in the SLC area. Brighton is one of my favorite resorts located in Little Cottonwood Canyons which offers the finest snow in Utah. It's better known for being a snowboarder's paradise, but skiers love the tree skiing. The varied terrain is perfect for beginners/intermediates while offering steep black diamond runs for advanced/experts. The scenery is just beautiful even while riding the chairlifts. I feel that the resort has a more laid-back vibe. The food in the lodge is good and ticket prices are reasonable compared to nearby competitors in the Cottonwood Canyons - Solitude, Alta and Snowbird. I've never found the lines to be long. I ski yearly here and love the well groomed trails and scenery. If skiing the Cottonwood Canyon's resorts, it's most convenient to stay at a hotel in Midvale. read more

We visited Brighton last week on thanksgiving day and had the absolute time of our lives. My sister, husband and I had never skied before so we decided to take an intro lesson. We were BLESSED with Slade and Chance, the two best ski instructors of all time. Seriously. So patient, so helpful and kind. I watched Chance ski backwards down the hill basically holding hands with a dude that was trying so hard but wasn't getting it. Chance was so patient and he was not going to let him give up. Slade literally held me upright more than once when I was trying to get the hang of exiting the lift. I've been terrified my whole life to try skiing but these guys gave us the confidence to succeed. It was the best money I've ever spent. I could go on about these guys. They were awesome. If you're heading to ski this winter, book a private lesson with these guys! Love it- it's perfect for us blues+greens types like my dauighter and myself. Lots of runs so it never gets boring. Just DON'T eat at Molly whatever's---waited half an hour for food, and when it came, it was inedible, except for salad. meatball sub had a whole container of oregeno in it, my husband's ribeye sandwich was mystery meat, the fries were limp as heck. And we both felt sick an hour later on the slopes. read more

On a busy, crowded holiday like today, I'm reminded at how good Brighton is at handling parking so everyone's not spending their time circling the parking lot looking for a spot. Even with the crowds, the queues move quickly and the slopes are always worth it. It'd be great to see the lodges expand someday with warm fires and larger lounge areas, but on the other hand, I'm up there to snowboard and I'm sure not being overly focused on large amenities keeps the resort more affordable than many. Good to spend explore tracks through the trees that feel secluded even while the slopes are busy. read more

The resort is definitely for snowboarders only! Lol The room was tiny, no tv... no internet... a tiny bathroom. I know most people that stay at a resort it's to have easy access for snowboarding skiing or do any other sports which is awesome! BUT for those of us that like to snowboard a little bit at a time and hang out it's not ideal. Anyway the staff was ok., they did not try to go above and beyond, they were mediocre to tell you the truth, specially since we had already paid it's like they had already our money so we didn't matter. We ended up leaving after 2 days because of an injury... and we had paid for 5 days... NO REFUND. At all. So make sure that if you pay in full you stay your full time! It's a beautiful place just because it is all the way to the top of the mountain BUT the actual resort isn't the best. We'll definitely skip this resort if we're ever back in town, and go somewhere else. Hope this helps! read more

Brighton was not originally designed for boarders, because boards didn't come out until years after this resort opened. It was the first Utah resort to allow boards (Boarder Bob) and still is the local boarding kids hang out. It is also a great place to access wicked backcountry chutes via the milly chair and a short hike up the ridge to the Wolverine Cirque or head over to Mt. Tuscarora a grab a line down the main chute. This area is only for those experienced in avalanche protection skills with xterme skiing skills. You can experience night skiing here and water down your thirst at Molly Greens. Even grab a city bus and avoid the drive up the canyon or stay at the Brighton Lodge's warm rooms and get first chair up in the morning. read more

Beautiful low-key resort nestled in the mountains behind Canyons & Park City, yet much closer to SLC. The powder is amazing here and the resort is so expansive, yet uncrowded. The tree runs stay pretty untouched so it is possible to find some good pow runs a few days after a storm. Cliffs here are unbelievable, great ones inside the gates, and bigger better ones outside the gates. The park is good, the place is known for their wide tube rails. The jumps are decent, but could be better. You can buy $15 1 time lift tickets to get to the top of the resort, where there is access to some amazing hiking. read more

Brighton is my favorite place to go snowboarding. It is just a lot more relaxed than the other resorts. The snow is always really good and there are tons of tree runs! It is pretty quick and easy to get up there from Salt Lake too. The only negative incident I've had at brighton was a parking incident. The management was very understanding though and worked with me to find a solution to the conflict. Love brighton and will return for many years to come! read more

As a beginner the pricing was great, I got a ski lift, rental, and lesson for 2 for under $300. My only problem was the staff. The older staff were great and knew what they were talking about, but the younger staff seemed like they were just there to have fun with their friends. They were raucous and disrespectful and were more interested in loudly discussing inappropriate topics than providing service. They were also pounding on the table with screwdrivers to show how well they can drum. The food was also terrible and took 15 minutes to get a hamburger although I was the only one in line. By the time that my hamburger was ready the other food I had ordered was cold. Overall, it's a great deal concerning money, but a terrible customer service experience. read more
