I finally got in, we sat down &went through everything, I wasn't super comfortable, but I figured I would go ahead and get the epidural shot anyway because I was in excruciating pain & needed it. To get a little personal, I have anxiety when it comes to any medical procedures and I made the doctors aware of the situation so they suggested I get sedation. A week and a half later I finally get in to have my shot done. It was hotter than Hades in that office & was even hotter once you got back in the patient area. The bed they put me in was baking in the sun. It had to be nearly 80° and then they put a warm blanket on me. I sit down and my anxiety rampant. My blood pressure was high. My heart rate was high, and I had a Slightly elevated temperature, which are all symptoms of anxiety. They took my vitals every five minutes in a crowded room with constant beeping a blood pressure cuff going off every minute and then constantly telling me to calm down. As the timer went off every five minutes, I anxiety got worse. My Elevated temperature did go down to 99.4. And if you read the CDC says a fever is considered anything over 100.4. The doctor, then rudely comes over and tells me he cannot continue with the procedure because I must have some sort of infection. And then told me it was not possible to have an elevated temperature from anxiety. I've experienced this numerous times before I have been told by different doctors that it is completely possible to have an elevated temperature due to my anxiety, and I have read numerous studies from medical journals as well as information from the CDC that very clearly states heightened anxiety can cause an increase in temperature. When I explain this, he basically told me I was crazy. It wasn't possible. I have an infection. I have to go home. The minute I get home I take my temperature and it is a cool 98.7°. Just like I said no fever no infection it was caused by my anxiety. I called the office afterwards and ask them if I could reschedule my procedure but with a different doctor and she told me it was against policy and they wouldn't let me do so. After complaining she said she would talk to her supervisor and get back to me by the end of the day or at least the next morning at the latest. No call yet. Unprofessional, beyond ridiculous and I would say never come here and never see this doctor again I'm a little worried that he doesn't know that any of that is actually possible. Makes you wonder what else this doctor doesn't know. My experience with Ignite Medical Resort Dyer was extremely disappointing and concerning. Based on…read morewhat I observed during my loved one's stay, I believe the facility falls far short of the standard of care and professionalism that its name suggests. On the very first day of admission, there was a cloth chair in my loved one's room that appeared to have dried human waste on the armrest. I immediately brought this to the attention of the staff. After investigating, I was assured that the chair would be removed right away. However, three days later, the chair remained in the room. Throughout the stay, the level of care, responsiveness, and bedside manner displayed by many of the nursing and CNA staff was unacceptable. The facility appeared to be understaffed, and there was a noticeable lack of urgency when patients required assistance. On numerous occasions, we used the call button to request help for my loved one. Not once did a nurse or CNA respond to the call button in a timely manner. Each time, a family member had to physically walk to the nurses' station to request assistance before anyone responded. My loved one shared a room with another patient, and I frequently overheard that patient calling out for help. She could often be heard moaning, groaning, and asking for assistance for extended periods. When staff eventually entered the room, I was shocked to hear them scold the patient, telling her that she was "always calling" and that she "didn't want anything." Witnessing this interaction was deeply troubling and demonstrated a lack of compassion and respect for a vulnerable resident. Another concern was the apparent lack of engagement with residents. Many elderly patients spent entire days sitting near the nurses' station with little to no interaction from staff. They appeared isolated, disengaged, and unhappy. The most disturbing issue occurred when I noticed what initially appeared to be clumps of dirt or lint along the wall behind my loved one's bed. Upon closer inspection, I discovered that the area was covered with hundreds, if not thousands, of ants crawling along the wall and throughout the room. I immediately reported the issue to staff. One CNA responded by saying, "Well, I just got here." A nurse then acknowledged that she had already informed the day aide about the ant problem. This indicated that staff were already aware of the infestation, yet no action had been taken to resolve it or relocate the patient. When I expressed my concern and disgust regarding the situation, the nurse rolled her eyes and told me that I should contact maintenance about the ants. I found this response unprofessional and inappropriate, especially given that the issue involved patient health, safety, and sanitation. My final negative interaction occurred during the discharge process. The nurse manager reviewed my loved one's discharge instructions and medications. When I asked questions regarding follow-up medications, I was met with visible irritation and an unwelcoming attitude, as though asking questions about my loved one's care was an inconvenience. I strongly believe the facility should reevaluate its hiring practices, staff training, accountability measures, cleanliness standards, and responsiveness to patient concerns. Patients and families deserve compassionate care, professional communication, and a clean, safe environment. The one positive aspect of our experience was the therapy department. I did observe meaningful improvement in my loved one's therapy progress, and the therapy staff appeared dedicated to their work. They were the bright spot in an otherwise disappointing experience. I was relieved when my loved one was discharged from Ignite Medical Resort Dyer. Based on my experience, I would not choose this facility again. I encourage families with loved ones in nursing homes or rehabilitation facilities to visit frequently and remain actively involved in their care. The person in charge of nutrition didn't even know what meds my dad was on. He went downhill so fast there that we said we were calling 911. They ended up doing bloodwork and sending him after we said that. Got to the hospital and it turns out none of the bloodwork they sent was his. I'm pretty sure they fudged it just to get him out of there so they weren't liable.

Most of the nurses, especially the department leads sit in the front office most of the time. Our hospice nurses rarely were able to communicate with the head nurses because they were always in this room. I strongly suggest putting a camera in your loved one's room. Once I put a camera in, my eyes became wider everyday. The staff signed off on showers, when it was evident with the camera that my mother was not being showered, which lead to multiple urinary tract infections followed by hospitalizations. I went to visit my mom one day and she was sitting in urine, results 5 week hospitalization and rehab from a horrible uti My mom also missed meals while in assisted living. A friend stopped in one day during dinner time and had to ask for a meal. The kitchen said it was after hours, but would put something together, which wasn't much. Our family was told someone would help her to her meals. My mom was an oxygen patient and 9 of 10 times when visitors came including hospice her oxygen was on empty. The worst was when my mother was dying they refused to honor Hospice orders of administering medicine, resulting in my mother's last few dying days extremely scary and difficult. We had a family friend stop in and my mom's oxygen was on 41. I had called Carla, the head nurse an hour before, asking to administer the morphine and lorazepam (Hospice ordered meds) and she ignored these orders. I also have video of my mom begging for help and the cna's telling her to relax and lay down, while she is suffocating. Rikki, the director of Towne Centre has been informed of all of this and has not returned any emails or calls to discuss further or any inquiries to see my video footage. It tough to see our parents and loved ones suffering, especially when it is tougher than needs be. Moving forward I would only put my loved one in the hands of Towne Centre if you don't want what is best for them. I am so sad that I chose this place to take care of my mother. It was a constant disappointment of how professional human beings take care of the elderly, ill, and disabled.
