Like all of these facilities, they can always use more staff but the staff they have is high quality and that matters. No one wants to be in these types of facilities, but if it's needed, consider South Hills Post Acute.

My mother was admitted for rehabilitation, yet during the nine days she was there, she never received the rehabilitation she was admitted for. A physical therapist finally came to see her after she had already been there for seven days. By that time, she had spent most of her stay lying in bed. What made the situation even more upsetting was that she was often left in bed because no one would help get her dressed or out of bed. There were also times when she was left sitting in urine without being changed promptly. No patient--especially an elderly person--should ever be treated that way. Even more concerning, she was not given her insulin as prescribed. To make matters worse, the attending physician never saw her during her entire stay. The first time I visited her on the second floor, I stepped off the elevator and was immediately met with the smell of urine. That was a major red flag and reflected the overall condition of the facility. After nine days of virtually no meaningful care, we decided to remove her. Instead of facilitating her discharge, the staff delayed the process for hours, telling us the doctor had to see her before she could leave. Our response was simple: **Where has the doctor been for the past nine days?** We felt the delays were unnecessary, so we took her out rather than continue waiting. Based on our family's experience, this facility failed to provide the basic level of care my mother deserved. Our elderly loved ones deserve to be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. When families entrust a rehabilitation facility with the care of a parent or grandparent, they should be able to expect timely medical attention, prescribed medications, rehabilitation services, assistance with basic hygiene, and a clean environment. One final thought: if the time and energy spent responding to negative Google reviews were instead focused on patient care, I believe this facility's reputation would improve on its own. Great reviews are earned through quality care--not through responses to criticism. Families are trusting you with the people they love most. That trust should always be your highest priority. Sadly, that was not our experience here.

AT THE VERY END they had the balls to call us and say they heard we slept in my mom's room at the other place she was at and now reporting them to the dept of health and all this STUFF that either the other place told them or Hospice. They heard from someone and DENIED my mom UNREAL - my mom was in an assistant living they absolutely did not treat her right and THE LADY AT BALDWIN TOLD ME to get her out asap and call 911 and that she would help us. SO, I DID THAT then in the end they denied her WHO DOES THAT? HORRIBLE people here do not go there they are absolutely cruel just pure CRUEL. I went through all that followed BALDWIN's guidance and they left my mom out in the street basically. UNBELIEVABLE that is disgusting and they should be ashamed of themselves! I have mixed feelings about the service the VA's provided. As expected, there are great caregivers & not so great ones... we experienced both. We really loved Saffron, she was excellent with my mother personally, also took charge about making her breakfast, doing laundry etc. Mary was really competent too, took charge and was really kind & caring. A few of the not so great things we experienced: *One caregiver kept talking about how poor she was, and how much the VA's paid her. It was very uncomfortable *One caregiver was sleeping when I FaceTimed my mom on 2 separate occasions *When a caregiver was late, the one waiting for her chewed her out in front of us which was super awkward & unprofessional *One of them hovered over my mother, following her from room to room the entire time she was with her *Somehow there was a huge miscommunication regarding whether they were allowed to administer meds or not. I specifically asked one of the phone employees & was told no. 2 weeks later I was told they could, this was after mom's meds got completely messed up bc she couldn't figure out how to take them herself. The caregivers started administering them if I put them in the weekly pill boxes, but my mom was still taking them whenever she thought of it. They eventually brought a lockbox, but it wasn't big enough for both pill boxes *The night before mom moved, THEY LOST HER. One of the women from HQ called me at 10pm, said that my mom & a fellow resident wanted to take a walk around inside the building, and by the time the caregiver on duty followed them into the hallway they were gone. The other resident was categorized as "non ambulatory", so they definitely weren't moving very fast. They literally had one job, and majorly failed. They found them pretty quickly, but it could have been a nightmare, like what if they wandered outside? A great thing they did was get my mother a mechanical cat. She wasn't able to take her cat with her when she moved, and the VA's thoughtfully gave her one, which she loves. All in all, they provide a necessary service if you're not able to care for your loved one yourself. I would have given them 4 stars, bc nothing with that many moving parts is going to be perfect, and overall they were proactive about solving the inevitable hurdles that arise. But the fact that they lost my mom was not ok -in general- coupled with how insanely expensive it is.
