One of my parents is a resident now, and they have been in both the Assisted Living and (currently) the Cottage units (the latter being for memory care). First of all, I have to share my praise about the entire staff. I haven't met anyone there yet who didn't say hi or wasn't helpful. Everyone so far has been so wonderful to work with. They are understanding, helpful, engaging, and they seem to really care about their work. It makes a huge difference. The care provided appears to be top notch. I can't be around 24/7 of course, but the resident is doing very well physically, much more so than before arriving here. They even said the food is much better than they expected! The facility was very helpful in answering all of the questions I had, plus... many more that I didn't know I was going to ask! This whole process was all very new to me, and they understood this. They were patient with me and went out of their way to make us feel at home and at ease. So far, it's been a relief and a tremendously positive impact on our entire family.

My father's experience at Autumn Lake at Waugh Chapel was degrading and unacceptable. After major…read morehip surgery, he was repeatedly left in diapers. Instead of being appropriately toileted (even offered a bedpan) he was told to just urinate and defecate in his diaper until someone had the time to change it. His skin became red, sore and irritated. He was left in the same dirty t-shirt for multiple days, often without pants, and his privacy and dignity were not consistently respected during care. He was left in bed most of the time and then blamed for having trouble moving and expressing severe pain due to his hip being stiff from lack of movement. What we witnessed felt neglectful, humiliating, and dehumanizing. Staff repeatedly said he "refused" care, but our family saw rushed care, poor hygiene, and improper treatment . Even the physical therapy staff were rushed and had too many patients. He became suicidal and repeatedly asked to leave because he couldn't take it anymore. We became so concerned for his well-being that we removed him from the facility. I strongly believe he would have continued to decline both mentally and physically if we had left him there any longer. I am disgusted by what my father had to endure and would never recommend this awful place to anyone.

Please if you care about your loved one please don't place them here this place is horrible im…read moretalking about memory care i can't speak for the rest of the place. they only care about a pay check they don't care if your loved one falls they won't report it and try to hide it & even if they do report it nothing is done they treat the residents horrible it's like a prison in there they leave them sit in urine & feces all of the staff hardly speak any English making it very difficult for the residents to understand what's being said during the nite when they're supposed to be keeping watch over the residents all of the staff are sleeping in the living room area with feet propped up on chairs and hoodies over their heads. If the residents want to get up and walk around they are told to sit back down all the residents walk around like zombies. It's a beautiful place but the care is horrible. I really pray their not aloud to delete this review bc ppl really need to no what this place is really like. the residents have bruises all over from being man handled constantly they staff have no patience with these poor ppl. My mother had bruises the size of baseballs and bruises where u could see it was finger prints. My mother has broken her hip & shoulder since being in this place not even a year yet. If the resident isn't capable of feeding themselves they won't eat bc they wont take the time to feed them their to busy on their phones.please don't put your loved ones here.

The facility itself is beautiful. It reminds me of a resort. The dining area is visible from the lobby and a birthday celebration for a 101 year old resident was going on when I arrived. The residents, who were in attendance, looked like they were happy to be here. I toured the entire property and two staged units. There were 3 levels in the assisted living units. I visited 2. There is also a memory care unit on a secured floor that I did not tour. This place is definitely a contender. for my loved one. I'm hopeful that the quality of care is as impressive as facility!

They allow them to sit without underwear in their poop and get it all over chairs the manager sit on their butt they don't answer phones or answer doors. They make the caregivers do it all. They just boss everyone around. They barely pay these people enough to even survive on this place needs to be shut down all of them Matter if you're paying that much money to live in a place like that it is no different in care as a state-run one. I regret ever telling my customers to bring their family members here if it's the last thing I do I will get them all to remove all of their family members. Some it's too late for.. This place needs to be under investigation. This woman Donna pool should not be allowed to operate any type of assistant living place ever. Basically starve these people to save because they are not in the right mindset to tell they leave over 13+ people most of them are hospice care for one caregiver to bathe feed, change do it all alone which is illegal cause heck if the managers are gonna do anything and they allow med techs to sign off on medical forms . You are not allowed to sign off on medical forms when you are not a nurse, they know you're not allowed to but Donna allows it because again it saves her money. I have contacted some very high ups in Advocacy for the state of Maryland. When people try to speak up on behalf of these patients they get booted in the state of Maryland, they don't have to have a reason apparently .They also have these patients crawling out of windows all the time getting in and out of their beds all throughout the night when they're not supposed to be walking falling non stop hitting heads .they need help because they do not have enough help in there because she doesn't want to pay for it. Just remember when you go in there to do a visit and they act like they're so involved with a patient who are playing games And they act like they're so nice and funny that's all an act. It's all fake. They do it so you will bring your family member in there so they can make boat loads of money off them and they love to get hospice care because they make even more money. The more handicap your family member is more money she makes off them. This is not an assisted living ,This is a nursing home. If these people knew exactly how their family members were cared for or lack there of they would be removing them immediately The next time your family member is told that they fell or they're all of a sudden sick or injured or in the hospital. I'd be finding out why open an investigation these people fall daily several times a day When they're supposed to be helped up but because they don't have enough help in the management again sit on their butt and order everybody to do everything when they know what these people make and how hard they work. They make the caregivers three meals a day different meals for different people. This place doesn't even have a chef. That's how cheap she is she she makes the caregivers have to cook all the meals for these people clean the whole place bathe them do everything while the rest of them sit on their lazy butts and they wonder why so many of these people fall And when your family member is dying and you're not able to be there they don't care or sit with them when dying

That being said she was not able to complain about this place. She said I quote "the house was clean, the staff was very nice and the food was excellent." Before we chose this place we called about 30 assisted living locations and this place was not only priced fairly but goes the extra mile to make sure their residence are taken care of.

The lady that owns this business is a crook she found me a place so I paid $1200 for one months…read morerent and $1200 community fee and because I fell in the hospital the guy that owns the place I was going to refused to give me my money back and then Golden Arms refused to give my community fee back so I lost $2400,so the lady that owns Golden Arms found another place and said that I would not have to pay another $1200 community fee because I paid for it once already and she also said that if I don't like it there or something happens and I don't move in that I would receive all my money back and she put it on paper so I paid $1200 for the months rent so I did move in but I stay overnight and because I went out for some fresh air the owner called the police and said that I was mentally ill and could not go back into the house and she called a ambulance to have me transported to the hospital and she also refused to return my money back to me so I lost another $1200 isn't that something,even putting this in black and white I lost all that money.
