I bought an aftermarket slide for my handgun. While putting rounds down range, started having FTE/double feed issues. Tried chalking it up to break-in time, but after several trips and the same random problem, I tried going to the manufacturer and got ghosted, lesson learned. My FiL, who's used Briley for choke tubes and shotgun work in the past recommended them. So I contacted them and sent off my firearm (I live in CA). They tried everything they could think of and couldn't get the damn thing working (more on this in a minute). In talking with the gunsmith, I decided to send along my OEM slide to have them modify it for a red dot which was kind of the reason for the aftermarket slide in the first place. Keeping in mind that it took some time for all this to transpire and shipping time, the process took about 3 months. They didn't charge me for any of the work trying to get the aftermarket slide functional(I hope I'm not getting anyone in trouble) since they couldn't get it functioning! Just charged for the modifications to my slide and shipping. Very cool. I get my firearm back and I'm doing some dryfire practice to acclimate to the red dot, which anyone knows going from irons to a red dot on a handgun presents a bit of a learning curve. My slide locks up tight after dry firing on a snap cap. Nothing I try works (mortaring, screaming, threats) so I figure something with the modification has gone horribly wrong and I bricked my handgun. Swell. I called up the shop and explained what happened to the gentleman I'd dealt with by phone through the whole process. He made a suggestion to put a cleaning rod down the barrel and give the snap cap some taps as the firing pin may have gotten lodged in my well used primer which won't allow the barrel shroud to pivot properly and allow the slide to move. If that didn't work, it would have been another round and more shipping costs to get it back to them. But low and behold, it worked! Great customer service, quality mod, will definitely be my go to for any future need and a hearty recommendation to friends looking for services. read more

The illustrious Briley. I had work done on several of my shotguns and some simi-rare lever action rifles (218-B, etc) back in the 90's by Briley. Great work and great prices. I recently took in a 45-70 Marlin 1895CB Government and asked them to puddle weld a sling post on the forend tip (Already drilled and set) and grind and repeat for good measure. Answer was: "we dont do that type of work". They handle thousand if not thousands of dollar refits and sizing of all type of firearms but cant handle a simple forend tip refit. Basically "we don't have time for your $200 little refit. Get lost". I will never buy from this company again. If you are a serious firearm collector don't waste your time with this company. Something has changed in the last 10 years. I used to be welcomed there, now i'm a pest apparently. Shop elsewhere. read more

Fantastic customer service from Krystal at Briley! I emailed them over the weekend about an item they had listed on their website. Krystal texted me first thing Monday. I asked for a few more pictures of it, and what the final price would be.She did so, and even discounted the price a little. Definitely made it a good deal. Next day I called to purchase the item, she could not have been any more nice and helpful. A very personable and genuine lady. Item was shipped the next day. Shipper lost the package and was not very helpful about trying to locate it. Krystal was very helpful in trying to resolve a situation that she had never encountered before. After a couple of days, she was very Gracious to refund my money to my credit card, which was done very promptly. She was very sympathetic towards me because this item was something I really wanted, and no longer in production. Thus being relatively hard to find. After 4 weeks, the item gets delivered by the shipper with no explanation as to what had happened to it. Box the item was in was severely damaged at some point during shipping. Item is in even better condition than I expected. I called Krystal back to say item had finally arrived, and I wanted to re-purchase it. Krystal was glad to do so, and even waived the initial shipping charges, which was fairly substantial. These guys took online orders for shotgun handguards on Black Friday 2023, promising "ETA" by December 3, 2023. It's now January 3, 2024 and items still have not been delivered, nor did they reach out to their customers with an update. And if you call them to ask about it, some old guy gets on the phone and talks really nasty to you like YOU'RE THE VILLAIN. Will not order from them again and would not recommend. read more

I am surprised that after so many years of being the premier gun smith and gun center, a newbie is the first to review it :). So I recently bought a beretta A300 and being tall needed a gun fitting along with a better recoil pad. John was super helpful and patient both when I dropped and picked up the gun. I have to say that the customer service and knowledge is the best and many other businesses could learn from that. I think Friday afternoon is rather busy but other days are better. In both instances, staff was really courteous and paid great attention to everyone around. They have some really nice guns and chokes too and just walking around was such a nice experience. The one star is for customer service. Ordered a couple of cylinder chokes for my F3 Blaser 20 Gauge. The receipt says cylinder chokes, the end product was 2 Skeet chokes. I can't call during the day and they're response to emails is extremely sad. I really like their product but if they can't back it up with customer service, what's the point? At least with Muller or Tru Lock chokes, you get a response in a day or two. read more

Recently sent my Ljutic Mono 12 gauge Trap Shotgun to Briley. The gun was not ejecting any shells which despite that a Ljutic is an excellent gun, it is known as being finicky with the types of shells that it ejects. I called Ljutic who referred me to Briley in order to have my shotgun chamber sleeved. In other words, Briley added a stainless steel sleeve to the chamber. I also asked them to add choke tubes to the gun. All in all, it cost me around $600 and it only took them 2 weeks to finish the gun barrel and return it to me. Today, I shot 3 different shell types from the Ljutic and all of them ejected perfectly. I am extremely happy with the quality, speed and professionalism with the folks at Briley. COMPLETELY SATISFIED! Briley's had taken my ATI FX45 M1911GI in for an ejector replacement. During a routine cleaning my ejector snapped off leaving the from ejector post in the frame. I found it to be held in with Lok-Tite. I had no choice but to have a trained professional mill it out! I dropped it off and the staff was extremely helpful. Despite the fact that the first person knew very little about the repair he got a person who did. As I filled out my paperwork he discussed what would be done and the applicable charges. The staff was incredibly great and their customer service unsurpassed! They estimated it would be $65 for the fitting, $60 for the milling, and the cost of the replacement ejector. They also quoted me 6 weeks before it would be ready. Much to my surprise I received a call in about 4 or 5 weeks and they waived the cost to drill out the front post...ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! When I came to pick it up the staff was still equally as friendly and welcoming. I joked with a couple of the staff while waiting for my 1911 to be retrieved from the back. I still have more work I want done and I refuse to bring my 1911 elsewhere! Thank you brileys for getting my EDC back up and running and doing business as it should be done! I called Briley and asked about the turnover time for the work I wanted done on my over under. Gary had said it would be no more than 4 months. 6 months in I called and asked for an update via email. I had never received an email. My shotgun has now been with Briley for over a year with no calls or updates. I just sent another email today. I know that there work is outstanding and I have seen many good reviews, but they have to get better at there communication skills. I am very disappointed and I don't think I will be doing business with Briley Manufacturing in the future. James read more

I have dropped into Briley on several occasions. They make excellent choke tubes and some really cool performance products for shotguns. They also have a reputation for great gunsmithing services. After reading the reviews, I thought I might add something. I have purschased items in the store on occasion and enjoyed looking at some of the fine guns on display. But, I too have gotten the impression that my business was "not worth the effort" from a representative on the floor. I wanted to have a new pad placed on a Browning Gold that is a plastic stocked Duck Gun. It may hade a little mud caked into the checkering for so long that I cannot fully get it clean. It does a job and I need it to work, but it is not gonna win the pretty gun contest. When I was making sure the action was clear, the gun locked up, so I added that to my list as I waled into the store. The man "helping" me indicated that they no longer worked on these old guns and was about to dismiss me after a short but formal discussion. I was a little shocked since I could see several double barrel guns and rifles on the rack that were around when Teddy Roosivelt was president! The gunsmith/salesman then noticed I had an aftermarket bolt handle on the gun as he was handing the gun back to me. I told him, yes I bought it here.....that seemed to change his feeling toward me and this gun. He said since that may be why it was not functioning they would look at it and try to get a new recoil pad added. I left the gun and was a little put out over the attitude at the start of this transaction. I was called that the gun was ready within a few days. When I went to pick it up the sale clerk called for someone from the back to get the gun. An different more mature gunsmith went to retrieve my gun and I cannot overstress the difference in approach. He treated me and that old Browning like we were their best customers. His attituted and professional approach turned this experience around. The work looked good and I paid what I felt was a fair price for the work. The gunsmith even made sure I had the gun cased to keep it from new scratches on my ride accross Houston. He was sincere and I will go back to Briley when I need work on a gun, a gun that matters. I know there are skilled people there and there are a few with a great understanding that the value of shotgun is not all rated in dollars. read more

Let me start off by saying that I am NOT the type of person that wants champagne, but can only afford to be on a beer budget. I can appreciate the finer things in life and pay for those items that are worth it. I am NOT happy at all and it would take a lot to get me to return. My big attraction was the selection and the experience. At this point, I had already been to a half dozen gun shops. The O/U Shotgun section was slim. I had not found a place where I could compare a few of my tops guns side by side. I know for a fact I lost their attention the very second I told them my budget. I honestly thought they would have over/under shotguns for ~ $1,500. There is definitely a market for $1,000-$1,500 guns out there, but not at Briley's. I wish I caught the name of the man that helped me.... I cant remember the last time I felt so belittled and embarrassed. I was told that anything less than $2,500 was going to be junk and I was wasting my time looking. I challenged him and asked what makes these higher end guns so much more expensive and worth the cash. I felt like he was stumped and he gave me a short answer... "They are handmade." How about functionality differences? I told them I was there doing my research. I told him the purpose of the shotgun (sporting clays) and the type of gun I already had.(SBEII) The new gun was definitely a "WANT", not a need. How many times have you gone to the store or better yet gone to the car dealership and walked out spending more than you originally anticipated?? I know I have! I fully appreciate the knowledge base and art of a true salesmen. I would have bought a higher priced gun if I was truly sold on it. read more
