The after work crowd on a weekday is enough to incite a panic attack - especially for a newbie playground mom like myself, and quite frankly, I'm petrified of even trying to go on a weekend. That's not to say there isn't room for everyone, though. With the plethora of benches and tables, there really is room for everyone. D There are tons of abandoned (okay: "donated") toys left around - for the sand box and for kids to ride on, play in, etc. which adds to the play options. I love the access from here to the pond; it makes taking a walk around the pond before or after the playground a nice option. Not to mention all the shops and restaurants right on Center Street as well. There is easily accessible parking behind the playground - it is the public parking lot in JP behind Blanchards. It is 2 hours only, but that is usually more than enough time to get in and out of the playground. It's nice to not have to troll around for a parking spot.

If you drive past it to get to the end point on Google maps, then you are too far and will be at the exit point of the parking lot. I don't understand why playgrounds don't have trees or shades? Why? The Spray Deck is open from 8 AM to 8 PM daily. Wading Pool is open 6/15/2024 - 9/2/2024 10:15am - 5:45pm. Parking is maximum 4 hours, regardless of weekday/weekend/holiday. There is an ice cream truck there sometimes. $5 or $6 for a sugary treat. (It's almost just sugar water, no ice cream content.) No hand sanitizers outside of the porta potty, so bring your own. Plenty of free parking.

There's so much to do here! Walk, jog, swim if you have kids, go to the playground if you have…read morekids, play frisbee, set up a picnic, grab a drink at Owl's Nest (which is a pop-up brewery in the warmer months), sit on a bench, go kayaking, watch people boat down the Charles, and the list goes on. I love coming here and walking the different paths for miles and miles. I also roller skate all the way to the Museum of Science and back -- it's the same continuous path! All around, i love this park area. There's truly so much to do.
