These guys are absolutely useless. AT&T Home Security was bought out by Brinks. They install everything but a couple of items. They call us to set up the next appointment to add the extras. They don't show up, or call, on that date. Then on hold for over an hour while they "investigate". I was then told that their person didn't set up the appointment correctly and they can forward me to that department again to set up another appointment. Really??? Horrible company with even worse customer service. They don't even deserve 1 star. Update: Don't ask to speak with a manager. Now I'm at about an hour and forty five minutes on hold. read more

Please stay away from having anything to do with Brinks Home Security. My experience with Brinks is so horrible, I'm struggling to dignify them with a one star rating. Six months ago May 2022, I was informed that the monitoring equipment in the house needed to be upgraded and that Brinks could no longer provide monitoring services with the existing devices. When I paid in full to upgrade the equipment, Brinks sent a tech over for the installation but not the equipment. When the tech and I researched where the equipment was, it turned out that while they charged me for the total amount, the order for equipment had not gone through and they didn't know when the equipment would be available. I canceled the upgrade and asked for a refund from Brinks, which took months to reconcile because they had processed my payment through the Affirm BNPL service (don't even get me started on Affirm, their review is coming up next). The irony of that transaction is that I had already given my credit card number to Brinks to pay for the devices upgrade in full. I accepted the risk that the house would no longer be monitored since the equipment was considered obsolete. Fast forward to today and I find that I have been reported to the credit bureaus for being delinquent for payments for a monitoring service that I haven't received because the upgrade to our monitoring devices hasn't occurred. How can they charge me for services not rendered and then add insult to injury by reporting me to the credit bureaus? I'm not looking forward to reconciling this issue since my previous experience was so excruciating. Please avoid Brinks Home Security. There are better options out there. read more

Avoid at all cost! This company fraudulently practices door to door salespeople promising free installation with the option of canceling the service if no longer wanted. This is a scam. If you do encounter a salesperson at your door, do a quick google search and see the plethora of complaints and lawsuits before they swindle you into signing a contract. I have had my service for less than 30 days with u satisfactory service. I was told that my service cost would include 3 door monitors and that I could cancel at anytime for unsatisfactory service. They said that all I would need to do is return the installed units. After 2 weeks of unreliable service and installation, I called to cancel. They threaten me with a $2,000y charge against my credit if I cancel. When I call "customer service" they gave me the runaround during 5 calls. Most often, they would "attempt" to transfer me to "someone" and that could "help" or just hung up. PLEASE READ the reviews using a quick google search. I will get out of these predatory practices from this business but only because I caught this in time. I read the negative reviews, which all seem to come from out of state. I started service with them about a month ago. So far, so good. My main complaint was the lack of a yard sign. After several calls to the salesperson (though it's not really his job) and a direct call to Brinks, I finally have a sign on the way. I was very happy with AT&T Digital Life - they pushed me to Brinks. It was mostly fine until recently. The Carbon Monoxide monitor was malfunctioning. I called in July it is now September. They have booked a service technician appointment and cancelled 3 times - we are on our 4th date. I asked if they can ship the equipment and we can install it, but that is not available since it is a life-saving device....that I have been without for over 2 months. I have no faith in them keeping the appointment in two weeks. I have called to ask about cancelling my account but still have 14 months left on my contract. I hope I don't die in my sleep from CO poisoning in the meantime. Since the panel and door/window sensors are working they won't let me out of my contract. If there was a problem with them I have NO faith that the problem would be fixed in a responsible time frame and I would be paying for a service that doesn't work. I have already added an event in my calendar for 14 months from now to not renew anything with Brinks. Some of the people on the phone have been very apologetic but that only goes so far. Our original service provider, Time Warner Security, was replaced (without my consent) by Brinks Home Security. That seemed like a problem right at the beginning. Since that time I have been faithfully paying my bills on time with only one exception when I did not receive a statement (either in paper or via email) and was assessed a $5 late fee. After calling Customer Service I was able to have the charge reversed. Well, I failed to receive yet another statement and was again charged a $5 late fee. However, this time my request to have the charge reversed was denied. I informed the representative that this was unacceptable and that I would cancel my service when my contact period was completed. I can't believe that ANY company would permit the loss of a good customer over a measly $5. That doesn't seem like a wise corporate policy in my opinion. I've had Brinks for 5 years and their customer service is mediocre at best. This company that has a reputable name is in name only. By year (2) I started having false alarms, that got resolved and by year (3.5) I had one false alarm that was so bad, I was screaming in public the codes to the alarm through the phone to my nearly deaf mom, since she was the one who was home. When I got home from my walk, I was stuck with the continuing false alarm, talking to a tech support rep and my mom was talking to the fire department that a different department in Brinks had dispatched. I requested a technician to look at my faulty unit, flash forward, that tech shows up and replaces the faulty smoke detector with another faulty unit. The "new" smoke detector only flashes amber and red lights and the unit upstairs starts doing the same. I made several calls to Brinks to report the issue and each time getting disconnected. Imagine my surprise when I received an extra bill in the mail saying that I had to pay for the tech to come out and never having the issue resolved, and an even bigger surprise that it was logged as resolved since the company never logged my phone calls, since I kept getting disconnected. Well, since I had finally gotten a live person to ask when my contract would be up, I was told a little over a year and that if I wanted to terminate the contract, I would have to pay the whole amount (no one has that kind of money, unless you're in the top 1%) so I begrudgingly stayed paying each month, ticking the days like a prisoner. Here we are, I finally cancelled my policy, after having to make (3) phone calls, since the first two reps couldn't send the correct links and paperwork. I have to pay an extra month, since I didn't get within the 30-day window. I'm two weeks away from the cancel date AND ANOTHER false alarm, timing is more ironic than Alanis Morissette's song from the 90's. I can't help but take it personally and believe the false alarm was done on purpose, Brinks didn't call me, they dispatched the fire department to the false alarm and then called my 70 yr old mother. The only other company that I find more mediocre, is Microsoft. Brinks has been a vampire in sucking my bank account and I have NO desire to ever give them any more business. read more

If you are looking for a mediocre security system with unreliable service, terrible customer service, and a poor resolution camera, then Brinks Alarm is your winner. I attempted to close my account in November 2022 and asked the customer service rep numerous times if I had paid the full amount and my account would be closed. I was told yes and I was good to go. A few months later, I started getting billed again, only to find out that the rep had given me the wrong information and I had only paid off 3 of the 6 months left on my contract. After reviewing our previous phone conversation, the manager confirmed I was given misinformation and said I would be credited back for the 2 additional payments I made and they would actually close out my account. Then, I called back today to ask about the refund and was told I needed to submit a copy of my docusign in order to "hard close" the account and I would not be receiving a refund because I didnt pay the full amount. The supervisor was not interested in what I had to say and said there was no one above her I could speak to. With this level of customer service, I'm surprised Brinks is still in business. awful, awful, awful....I wish I could give zero stars. My home was broken into and the alarm panel ripped off the wall and taken. Brinks told me it would be 6 days before they could get a teach out to repair it. The intruder took the alarm panel so they know it house is vulnerable. After six stressful days, during the 3rd hour of the repair window, I received a text that the tech had called in sick. The next available appointment is 10 days away. Why do they not have an emergency tech to handle break ins and make sure the home is monitored? We are sitting ducks and do not feel safe in the home. One rep told me their system showed that the alarm panel was not taken off the wall until two days after the incident. i pointed out to him that there were several calls the day of and a police report with photos that prove otherwise. Another tech offered me a $10/month discount BUT I would have to add another 12 months to my contract. Hahaha...He turned my situation into a marketing call. Needless to say, Brinks will monitor your property and as long as everything is fine the system will work. Once the installer left, my husband noticed that the door lock hadn't been installed and immediately contacted our salesperson. He was nonresponsive so then we contacted customer service. We are still waiting for door lock to be installed. On Friday 3/22, the installer called and canceled at 4 pm because he claimed that warehouse was closed when he went to pickup the door lock. We were then set up for install on 3/25. No one showed up and after multiple calls to customer service, an installer contacted us and claimed that he would get it installed asap. It's the worst alarm company I have dealt with. I was with AT&T home security and AT&T transferred me over to Brinks. AT&T told me in writing that all the devices in the alarm system will be transferred over to Brinks. When the technician visited, he did not have all the devices with him. I had to set up another technician visit, for which Brinks charged me $700. Calling them is always painful - they first said I was lying about the devices that AT&T had installed, and I asked them to get their technician to verify. My 83 year old mother has Brinks. The first red flag was when they installed their cameras and took the ones she purchased with them. The second was when the alarm went off and she canceled the call telling them there was no need to send anyone. They sent a guy out anyhow that sat in his car in front of the neighbors house for an hour before he even approached the house. My mother was home the whole time and could see him on camera. She has the recording. When she received the bill for this she disputed it and was treated like a dog by the ignorant so called customer service agent on the phone. Nobody would hear her complaint and didn't care, they only wanted payment. If this was a valid call she could have been dead on the floor. I would never depend on this company for my security. When she called today to get help updating her online network, she called 3 times. Twice they hung up on her, once they told my 83 year old mother who cannot walk to get on a later and flip a switch. Then the woman told her she owes them money. My mother said she had a payment agreement and owes them $10. The woman set the phone down and never came back. I'm sorry that she trusted this company. I had an installation scheduled with this company and after three hours they did not install a camera, sensors, and a smart doorbell. They also damaged the main beam in my home and it took me six months to get this installation done. They still charged me for the entire installation and I had to pay someone to fix the doorbell that they left hanging. Brinks is one of the biggest scam companies I've ever dealt with. 4 years ago, an Army Vet sold us the system for our new home. We wanted to support him, and Brinks was a name we were familiar with from their armored vehicles. Well, it's not the same company at all. We were given a 3 year contract. After 1.5 years of service where we never received a call or inquiry about our alarms going off (we could never verify someone was actually monitoring), we moved to a new home due to a job change. Brinks said we would have to finish our 3 year contract with them or pay every month. We decided to just finish the contract. However, we needed new equipment for the new house. We were willing to buy it, but my wife confusedly was also tricked into extending our contract as well for another 2 years. The installation on the new home was done by a completely unqualified individual, who said he couldn't even hook up our doorbell camera. The doorbell he brought never worked. I ended up calling and asking for a replacement doorbell for 3 months before it arrived after a Better Business Bureau complaint. I had to install it all myself. After all that hassle, our $50 a month agreement was quietly changed to $71 a month, which is over twice the amount for competing companies monitoring services. Additionally their sensors were going out and they wanted $90 a sensor to replace them. I finally decided I'd had enough and called to cancel. They tried to offer me a lower monthly payment at $39, but then I found out I would be forced again to extend my contract. I requested to cancel my contract today, and ended up paying $1,560 to buy out my contract, which they said was 29 months. I had no way of verifying what the contract is as their website doesn't give you access to your contract terms. They promised to send me a proof of cancellation by email, but it wasn't sent. I'm going to be watching my bank account to see if they try and bill me for another month after I cancel. These people are thieves and they need to be forced out of business. It will happen because 3-5 year contracts are absolutely absurd when most competitors can offer monthly service with no contracts whatsoever, which is what I'm doing now. I will never sign another contract for home security, and you shouldn't either. Brinks will eagerly steal every penny from you that they can. read more

They make appointments then a week before the appointment they cancel the appointment because not technician is available. Brinks is one of the biggest scam companies I've ever dealt with. 1 years ago, we took over the business and with it the Brinks security system. It was an analog device with no remote access. SO I was planning to cancel this service and replace it with new. They suggested me to use their new products and see if it works the same as before. I thought that it's the same service with new device, so we just have to pay for new device. We were looking for chime to work the same way as before but it didn't worked. The technician is like you need to call them and make another appointment. We asked him to take the device back with him. But he refused and asked us to call. You can say that calling president would be easier than getting hold of customer support team at Brinks (scam company). Upon discussing with customer support they said that the issue can be resolved and they transferred it to tech support. They assured me that during next visit they can enable the chime. That were already working well with old system. However, the tech on next visit could fix it as well. SO we asked him to roll back to old system. He is like I don't know how to roll back to old system and removed the new system as well. We were left out without any security service. At that point I decided to just cancel the service. The customer service asked me to return the device that we received and once it is shipped the service will be cancelled. So I did exactly the same. After a month they started to call me for remaining payment of 25 month contract. I was totally unaware of this contract. These people are thieves and they need to be forced out of business. This company is a SCAM. Do NOT under any circumstances subscribe! They acquired my pre-existing monitoring service from another company. They jacked up my rates without warning. The one time the alarm went off, they failed to notify the monitoring station, and when I called the monitoring station they said they had no record of my account. And then my system stopped working. When I tried to cancel they told me I had a multi-year contract I needed to buy out. I will be notifying the California Attorney General to report them for fraud. read more

If I could give NEGATIVE STARS, or at least ZERO STARS, that would be best! We had our home security system with Monitronics and were very happy with them, but Brinks Home Security bought them out several years ago and service has been ATROCIOUS since. We had a few sensors that needed to be replaced as well as the battery in our glass break detector and we requested a tech to come out around the fall of 2022. I took a day off work to get the repair done (which by the way you have to pay for in addition to your membership service, unlike ADT who includes it in their service), and the 4-hour window that they said they would come closed WITHOUT THEM CONTACTING ME. I had to call them to find out what was going on and they then made a call and found out the technician was running late. Unfortunately, I had a prior commitment so I could not wait any longer for them. Eventually, I rescheduled with them a few months later. The day comes and they, once again, did not make it. I was so frustrated and wanted to switch companies, but we were under contract for another year. I tried again for a THIRD time to get a technician out a few months later, just to give them one last try. I believe it was the day before the scheduled appointment when they called and tried to reschedule me. At that point, I said forget it, and decided to just wait out the end of our contract. In all this time, they never offered any compensation (although I had used two sick days from work to try to get this taken care of) or anything like sending out the tech for free since they mishandled it THREE TIMES IN A ROW. So, now our contract is finally up. I got a new system installed by a different company, then called to cancel the Brinks service the next day. I find out that they will still be charging us for 30 days' service AFTER we sign the cancellation! You would think the least they could do is waive that after the horrible customer service, but of course they won't. I finally wrote a letter to the CEO to discuss my situation and why I needed to cancel, with no further charges, and that didn't even warrant a response!! We made the switch to Brinks a month ago due to AT&T getting out of the security system business and recommending Brinks to us. The new system has not worked a single day yet multiple error messages no video recording override error codes and zero customer service. Called support spent a long time on hold and eventually got a live person on the phone. Told them about all the issues with the Brinks Security system and they refused to send anyone to fix these issues or even document the list I provided. Although I completed and signed their contract online to purchase their service I was told they would only talk to my wife since I provided her contact info when I signed up.
