I hired DFW Home Theater to "go big".... We had a single standalone garage that I wanted to turn into a home theater. When I met with many of the contractors during the bidding phase, many were reluctant to take on a transformation project, or, having heard my ideas they came back to me with a watered down simple cookie cutter approach. But not Dennis and Ryan. They drew up a plan to deliver exactly what I wanted, and we worked together to get it just right. I offered some minor changes along the way to future proof the space and Dennis and Ryan never got upset, often times they were pumped to give it a shot, and the room turned out terrific. Ryan is the GC who did the room buildout, he was organized, worked hard every day, kept the job costs in line with the estimate and can literally build a home from slab to finish with his own hands. Dennis made sure all the AV equipment and accompanying fixtures were installed and configured correctly including whole room automation. We set up. 5.1.2 Atmos theater with a laser 4K projector. For this small space the sound and video quality is amazing. We also wired an external port outside the room so you can spill the party into the driveway and hook up mirroring tvs or projectors so everyone can watch the big game inside or outside. The cost was in line with others but I'm sure the final product was top 1% of what any contractor would have built for me. I highly recommend this duo if you want to take a spare bedroom, garage, attic space or an old theater room and let your imagination run wild!!! read more

System sounds great, good clean work, and very polite. System has a few flaws that have not been corrected even when I called the crew back out. The receiver is behind the couch however I was told a sensor would be installed that would allow me to not have to turn around and point remote behind me in order to change channels/apps. In addition the system will turn off and on when starting up a couple times before working correctly. Again a crew was called out to fix these issues and I was charged for this visit even though issues were not corrected. read more

I would strongly recommend that you find another home theater company and not gamble on Dennis and DFW Home Theater. I had my system installed by Dennis' team in July 2021. It's now November 2021 and my system still doesn't work. I could give you all the gory details of people leaving his company, people not knowing what the right OR left hand is doing, people constantly late to our service calls and then rushing off with a "we'll be back as soon as possible (typically a week) to see if we can get it figured out". Best way to describe Dennis' business ethics is this: After promising that he would not charge me to "make it right", he had the audacity to send me another bill for $500 of consulting work done by the new programmer he brought in after the first one that worked on my system quit. Well intentioned but they bit off more than they could chew with my system. We agreed on a four day install in September. They worked on the system for over two weeks and it was riddled with issues. The lead tech ended up being fired and the replacements have yet (6 months later) been able to address the open issues. Factory reps and other 'experts' have been brought in, but it's been a painful, disappointing ordeal. After the entire system crashed a couple of weeks before my family came for Thanksgiving, the owner made repeated assurances that it would be up and running by Thanksgiving. Sadly, it was not. There was a lot of finger pointing of AT&T, despite them knowing that was the service from day one. Six months since they were supposed to have completed my install, my kitchen lights turn on randomly, one of my security cameras has a mind of its own and doesn't work in the dark. We're on the third doorbell which, of course, is manufacturer or AT&T related. On the bright side, the theater room has been working well for several months now. It has met or exceeded my expectations. If you just want a theater room that is not networked to the rest of the house, I'd consider them. If you want a whole smart home that is seamlessly linked and accessible remotely, I would go with someone else. My system has been cobbled together and I have five apps to access different parts of the system. When it works. Since moving here from California with thousands of my colleagues, I've referred countless LA transplants to my realtor, my landscapers, my pool designer / builder, blinds, closets, etc. The only company that I have not only not recommended, but cautioned against, is DFW Home Theater. It was time to pimp out the media room in our new home. Unfortunately pimping ain't easy and can require lots of money. After a visit to a furniture mart that rhymes with Mebraska, we felt quite defeated that we could not afford our dream media room. The hubby and I turned to our most trusted source...YELP...and found this 5-star rated business -DFW Home Theater. We contacted Dennis Mills in mid-August and right away he set up a FREE in-home evaluation within our time frame. Dennis worked around our schedules and visited our home on a Friday night. We discussed budgets and dreams and time lines for our media room and it was very clear that Dennis is an expert in theater design and equipment. He took measurements and made recommendations, giving us several options to choose from within our budget and never pressured us into stuff we didn't need. He broke things down into lay terms for me- cause this dummy doesn't speak Technese- HA! DFW Home Theater doesn't have a show room which allows them to pass on the savings to us rather than mark up prices to cover their rent. This worked out well since we had a tight budget and prefer to do our own online research. We had already visited an over-priced showroom anyway. With football season starting and family coming to town for Labor Day weekend, we really wanted to have the room finished by Sept 1st (this gave them about two weeks- yikes). No sweat! We also made some last minute changes along the way. Dennis and his team HAPPILY made it ALL happen seamlessly and smoothly even with our changes. I can't tell you how much I appreciated that. DFW Home Theater was so accommodating and they nailed every. single. detail. It surpassed our expectations of what we visualized it would be. Their professional installation team, Glen and Ryan, also went above and beyond and even loved having our little Welsh Corgi as their snoopervisor. They do immaculate work with precise, symmetrical measurements and created a super clean, sleek, flawless-looking media room. They invested additional time training me on how to operate the dang thing...which is surprisingly very easy as I expected 15 remote controls and 400 power buttons. Nope- only one remote for the whole shebang that controls the PlayStation, DVD player, cable, projector and whatever other gadgets the hubby has! We literally felt as though we made some new friends, that's how friendly everyone was. Dennis kept us in the loop throughout the entire process and even followed up a few days later to ensure our satisfaction. "If you are happy, I'm happy" were his exact words. Well, we're happier than a couple of fat rats in a cheese factory! Truly honest and reliable people that actually care about customers: This is why I love to support local businesses!!! Basically a Husband and Wife operation that has a really nice website giving you the impression that they are much bigger. I purchased a Home Theater package and it worked about a month and the Denon receiver went out. Dennis sent his wife and a tech that is no longer working for the firm. After 2 hours of calling around to Denon and Spectrum they came up with a story that my Xbox caused a surge to the Denon and broke it. I had also purchased surge protectors from this firm. I was told I had to send in the Denon by UPS, but also received a $250 bill for the time these two incompetent people called others for answers and then just came up with a lie. I called Denon and they said they never stated a surge caused the problem. I also purchased a new Xbox before finding out they lied and the old Xbox works fine. Dennis wife got upset that I called them on the excess charges and stated to her husband to not set up an appointment until a month out to somehow punish me for questioning their credibility. Short story, once I received a loaner receiver while mine went to Denon, and yes another large charge for gas. I finally received an appointment time for another tech to come out and install the receiver from Denon. After never showing up or calling a couple of times a new tech arrived. The service tech was so new he stated he needed to watch U tube videos on how to program a universal remote. However, he didn't do that and spent 4 hours calling for help with the Denon install and still couldn't get everything to work. Dennis then tried to send another $200 bill and my wife stated we are not paying that when you send a complete novice out to install a receiver. Dennis then complained that he has overhead charges and gas is so expensive that he needs money and was going to charge me $400 more and I should be happy. He also went on to state that Frisco TX, is so far from my house but never mentioned the distance when he sold me the package. Please, stay away from this operation if you ever have a problem with the system, they don't support you and lie. read more

We were so excited to set up a theater room in our new home, but had no idea where to begin. We called up Dennis at DFW and he came out and helped us plan out the whole system. We shopped around a bit and did a little more research, then went back to Dennis to see what he thought of the things we had learned. First off Dennis charged me $100.00 to come out and give me an estimate. After I agreed to use him he said that he would take off $100.00 of the package I selected. He did not. Next the installers came out and then said they could not setup me system and did not understand why Dennis agreed to do so. Then Dennis came back and told me that the company was having a dispute internally and he was sorry I was a victim of it. Next Dennis tells me that my setup will require an additional $300 to setup because its not wired. Why did he not tell me this when he came out for $100.00. Next he said he would split the cost with me but asked me for all of the additional $300.00. My system was eventually setup by the second installers and now keeps shutting off by itself and Dennis refuses to come out and fix unless I pay him $300.00. WTF Darius read more

He never once pressured to sell me on unnecessary equipment and only gave his opinions when I asked for them. I had my whole media room painted (ceiling and walls). The painter he used was courteous, very flexible scheduling a time with me and did a fantastic job. I am extremely happy with how the project was completed.
