I would give 0 stars if I could. Brinks works with skyline management. They allow that company to scam people into contracts and they claim their hands are tied. They don't care that senior citizens are being tricked into 5 year contracts. Brinks does not care brinks continues to work with them. Brinks is not about family. I have called them to cancel my service and I have gone through the same issues as others here. I was even refused being transferred to a manager. I finally wrote a letter to the CEO to discuss my situation and why I needed to cancel, with no further charges, and that didn't even warrant a response!! I thought for sure if he didn't respond, he would pass it to someone to reach out to me and see how they could help! If you don't receive any kind of customer service or assistance from a company, you should be able to easily sever all ties with them. They are not providing you a service, they are automatically taking your money every month though! This company is an absolute disgrace, they are a scam and their customer service is absolutely trash. This is backdating to 2018. We got monitronics which is now owned by brinks, it's now October of 2022, Brinks changed the so called contract after monitronics went under in 2019. We were selling the house, tried cancelling and we're told we couldn't, because brinks apparently did something to make this contract which I never signed. So called our bank and had them block payment from coming out. Now fast forward to 2022 and now they want to sue me for breach of contract. This company says they emailed me to contract to show what I owed and what I signed and I never did. They just showed me the balance that I owe. No contract. Nothing from monitronics. The list goes on and on and on with brinks. They're unprofessional service and their downright dirty scumbag ways of trying to deal with people. If you want good security, get a gun. read more

I switched from AT&T Digital Life to Brinks and it's one of the worst decisions I've ever made! The first technician took a photo of my wifi password and stood at the keypad as I entered my pin. I was told I would have a two-way voice outside camera installed. I kept wondering why I couldn't hear anything. Later that day, I signed into the APP and noticed an additional user (I didn't add), I deleted the user; only for it to be added again later. I immediately changed my wifi password, personal pin and APP password. The cameras stopped working. I called Brinks and was told the cameras needed to be reset. It would be two weeks before a technician could come. Once the technician arrived, I made him aware the outside camera wasn't allowing me to hear anything. He stated, because it's not a two-way camera. Brinks hasn't had those cameras for months! I immediately called Brinks, for four days I was told to hold on. After being on hold for up to an hour, I hung up. Finally, I got someone in the cancellation department who stated, I'm under contract and I can either payoff the contract or payoff the equipment. I refused either option! I explained, Brinks breached the contract by not providing me with the correct equipment. The representative wasn't budging. Therefore I explained to him, if I go to a restaurant and order a cheeseburger, after paying I'm given a fish sandwich and I state this isn't what i ordered but I'm told, too bad eat it; that's a breach of contract! You can't just give people what You want to and they have to accept it! No one should do service with this company. I filed a complaint with the BBB and with a few other consumer complaints websites! I opened many tickets with Brinks to send me monthly email notifications for bills. I would never receive their email- although I receive bills from other vendors on the same email addresses that I have shared with Brinks. They would charge me late fee fine- sometimes they would waive and other times they would't. Every time I opened a ticket with them they told me that they fixed the issue and I will receive email notifications moving forward. They also sent me test emails to ensure that the issue is not with my email address. They have offered to enroll me in Autopay, although I told them I want to pay by check. read more

After closing our account, our account was sent to collections for $37.01 despite sending payment to them TWICE for our final bill. Every time I've called to talk to a representative they have been rude. I informed them the address I sent the payment to and was told that the address was their contract address. We couldn't pay our bill online like usual because they removed our online access after our account closed. Now, they're telling us SOL go deal with collection agency. They keep increasing my monthly payment and for last three months my system was disconnected from their system and they didn't even know but kept billing. An alarm monitoring company doesn't even know that their system is not connected to customers system and their billing keeps continuing. When I called for cancellation, they still charged me for another 30 days and gave me hard time. And charged me for another 7 days after cancellation with a $5 paper bill fee. Was with an alarm monitoring provider initially that got migrated into a Brinks Home Security account. Was on month-month for many years. In 2022, the 3G network went end-of-life and I began noticing long delays in setting the alarm. Brinks sent a letter in Sept'22 advising that they needed to come and install a 4G communicator to get the system working again. I immediately scheduled but they later canceled, so I rescheduled again and they canceled, and again, and again. In Jan'23 the 3G communicator went off line completely. After 4 months of failed/deferred/missed scheduling attempts, I finally gave up and canceled Brinks entirely. They then proceeded to charge me again in Feb 2023 for a "last month" after cancellation. After inquiring they explained that cancellation only started a 30 day window for the last month and that I had to pay a pro-rata into February. I explained that they were charging me for a system that was non-functional, that they had failed to upgrade as they promised, and that they had no way to monitor as the communicator was offline due to their incapability (failed to keep 4 different appointments). We started a contract with Brinks in an effort to keep our parents safe at home. They were clear that the contract was considered "lifetime" meaning we could only cancel when both parents died. The monthly fee could only be on auto payment - so I set it up through my bank. Both of my parents have passed ( most recently in December 2020). I have called, sent emails and sent the required proof of death multiple times. Every month they continue to take out the $53 monthly charge. They have now taken over $500 in charges out. When I call they put me on hold ( as I write this, I have been on the phone for 80 minutes). The person that I have spoken to is very difficult to understand and is obviously being told by her supervisor to tell me they wont refund any of the charges. They wont get a supervisor on the line. The doorbells cameras are faulty. We've had two break within 6 months. During the installation process the technicians check the voltage on your outlets to ensure they cans support the cameras. Now, brinks is refusing to send technicians to fix or replace the camera unless we have an electrician verify the voltage again. So now we're paying for both the equipment and monitor service that we can't use. Customer support reps are rude and will route you in circles like you're a hot potato no one wants to hold. The reps are trained to circumvent customer needs and offer solutions at the lowest cost to Brinks. Oh and they trap you in a 3 year contract. Buyer Beware! Brinks bought my security subscription from another company and I was told the charge would stay the same-$39.95 a month. In less than 18 months it went up to $55.20 so I called them to cancel. They claimed I signed a 5 year contract which I definitely didn't knowingly do, but they sent the contract to me and it was for $39.95 a month! If I had a contract then how could they charge me $55.20? I went to the Better Business Bureau and they have almost 7,000 complaints filed. Stay away from this unreputable company. read more

I DO NOT recommend Brinks. After contacting the company in 2021 and following protocol on closing my account, 2 years later they sent me to collections stating I owed them money. I had a paper trail to substantiate everything I did but they exercised muscle with the threat of collections. I have never been sent to collections in my life... I did communicate with the collection agency to see if they could contact Brinks because my telephone number was not allowed to reach Brinks. My calls were routed to the collection agency. They forwarded my e-mail with all the details and today Brinks' reply was pretty much pay up. I did report Brinks to the Better Business Bureau, although I do not know the efficacy of that. I had an old contract with Monitronics Home Security, which was purchased by Brinks Home Security. I've never had a problem with Monitronics, but now my family and I have decided to move and our nightmare with Brinks has begun. This old house started a foreclosure process in April, so my family decided to move out as soon as possible. I asked to turn off the electricity and water in the house, so since April the house has been empty, without electricity and water. I also called Brinks to cancel the service, but I could never talk to a real person, only to robots. I kept trying, as they had already debited the April monthly fee from my bank account (automatic debit). I kept trying to cancel the service without success so I decided to call my bank and cancel the automatic payment. And in the first week of May I managed to talk to a very rude lady, who said she would cancel the service. But I kept getting bills with interest and late fee. You guys are charging the month of May and June, with late fee, cost recovery fee, paper statement fee, etc... This is not fair! I haven't used the services of this company since April! The house has been without electricity and water since the end of April. This is the worst company I have ever met. I also have a company and I NEVER treat my customers like that! Nest users be warned! If you own a Nest product, the only option is to enter a contract with Brinks for 3-years. If you return those Nest products within 90 days after determining the product does not work for you, Brinks will still hold you to your contract. I'm in a 4-story home thus Nest did not work for me for a variety of reasons. Nest agreed, Best Buy agreed - and I got a full refund. This was less than 2 months after purchase. However, Brinks would not reason with me and would not let me out of the contract. I now have a different security service through ADT, which works great for my needs. However, I still have to pay a monthly service to Brinks for a contract I do not use. I could understand maybe if they had invested in equipment installation in my home, which is the reason many security companies require contracts. However, in this case, Brinks supplied zero equipment and zero installation time. The equipment was Nest which I installed myself. There is no logical or ethical reason Brinks would require payment on this contract. I would not recommend doing business with any company that operates this way. I am a Brinks Home Security Customer. When I had my alarm system installed the technicians said the garage doors would open by using our cell phones. The garage doors never seem to work. After repeated trips to fix the doors, the technicians tool the sensors. After a couple of calls the Brinks, people would say they was on orders. Several calls later no resolution to the doors issue. I gave up on calling them because to get through on the phone has taken over an hour. I eventually reprogramed the switches that came with the garage openers to work. I did not want my family members to have to get out in the pouring rain to open the garage door. Now, time has passed (1 year) Brinks has raised their rates. I asked them to fix the Garage to work properly. They said they will for $65 for each sensor. I said I thought that was unfair. I also informed them that the smoke detector also does not work. The representative seemed to be losing her patience with me. I asked to speak to a manager. She refused. She said someone would call back. They did not. I called the company a few days later. The representative said please hold. I got disconnected. I at no time raised my voice or used profanity while stating my case to the representatives. But I displeased that their system does not work right, and they are willing to charge me for attempting to fix it. Yes, I really do not trust them to fix the system. I hope everyone is having a great weekend and happy Mother's Day to all of your moms! I have had Brinks since May 2022 and prior to that had ADT for several years. I really love the Brinks system and interface but as of recently have not been happy with the customer service and support I have been receiving. Upon installation of my system, I was not made aware that the Brinks team did not replace ADT sensors with their own. Instead, Brinks leveraged some ADT motion sensors in my house and integrated them with the Brinks system. I kept receiving messages on my phone which state" low battery." I called Brinks to help guide me through this process. Brinks representative told me to change the specific battery for the motion sensor in my room but I told him that what he was describing was "off" with respect to the battery type and sensor unit itself. After much debate, the Brinks representative noted, "Ok it appears you have ADT sensors that are compatible with our system and have been there since when we installed your Brinks package. For us to change this out with a Brinks motion sensor we will charge you." The result of the call was that a Brinks sensor would be mailed to me but I would have to install it myself. I do not feel comfortable doing this and would like a technician to come do this for me such that I know that the system is working correctly. Incident #2 occurred a couple days ago and within a week of the last incident. On Friday, May 10th evening, I received a call from Brinks regarding a "living room motion" in my locked home while I was away. In addition, my emergency (family) contacts were also notified about the "living room motion." As a result, my daughter sped to my home in one car and I too left an engagement to speed home in my own car. After getting to my home within 15 minutes of the messaging, there was no incident at my home. However, the physical panel says, "bedroom motion detector." Thankfully there was no actual break in. Safety is our highest concern. I would appreciate a call and email from management to understand the path forward here and would love to have this result whereby my entire system is using Brinks technology (no substitutes) as well as evaluated with respect to working condition. I never had this issue with ADT and only made the switch to Brinks because I like the interface and panel better. However, if I don't feel secure, I will need to switch my service back to a working system. The most frustrating part is I kept repeating myself but it felt like I was talking to the wind because the support representatives were so focused on what they wanted to say versus actively listening. read more

It's not surprising from a company that has apparently decided it's worth making a little extra $$ selling a clearly fraudulent bill to a collections agency 15 months after we ended our account. That this practice is not regarded as criminal is an indictment of the consumer protection laws in this country. When I moved from one home to the other, I called and asked what to do so that my contract would be fulfilled and not extended. Was told to bring my motion sensors with me. There were already panels in the new house. I did that and the technician who arrived only charged $15 for a battery. Used the equipment I brought with me. Now they won't cancel my contract even though I moved out-of-state over two years later because they say my contract was extended at the prior move. They left me paying for 3 weeks of service with ZERO protection. Spent hours and days trying to work with them, and many hours trying to cancel service. The hardware breaks in a couple months and they want you to pay for the replacement AND installation again. And it's not just one thing. It's cameras, it's the main panel, it's motion sensors. Brinks 1 star rating speaks for itself but I'll share my experience. Such an awful company. Anyone considering using them should look for a different provider. Their customer service is terrible, your price always varies, and the service changes. When you talk with support they will do whatever they can to keep your business giving you a low rate saying it won't change only to continue creeping the price back up. Originally when I signed up I could lock and unlock my doors, change the temp in my house, set my alarm, monitor activity when doors were opened and shut right from my phone. If I could give a zero star review, I would. Nightmarish services, nonsense policies, and absurd technical "support" if you could call it that. This company is the epitome of living in the past, because they don't know a thing of how modern technical service works. Starting first with my issue, it all began with our Carbon Monoxide Detector. It had expired, and we needed to get it replaced. I had called and they informed us that they would deliver us a replacement, and that we were to call them back once we received it. Just today we received the system, and, for reference, I have wasted THREE HOURS TALKING TO THESE PEOPLE. THREE. THREE HOURS OF MY LIFE. I had to go through four customer service people. First one spoke slowly and didn't help, going entirely silent only a few moments into the call. Second one we did over text. If you told me that "person" was just an automated reply system ran by an AI they personally bought out, I would believe you. Grammatical errors right and left. Disregarding photos and information provided to them. Skipping steps. Thank God I stopped talking to them. Soon enough, they transferred us to a THIRD technical support call. Emisol, if that's his name, was mostly helpful. He was clear and fluent, and gave clear directions. It was clear that he was engaging with our issue and was determined on assisting us. Honestly, I thought that would be the end of it. Unfortunately, we failed to get anywhere after 30 minutes or so. He apologized for wasting our time, and transferred us to a level 2 support. At this point, I didn't mind. He was considerate and patient, and actively assisted in my issue. Good guy. It would only make sense for level 2 to be even more helpful, right? Wrong. When I reached level two, I got met with a shabby microphone, unclear voice, and someone who was clearly just going through the motions, because the moment I mentioned my issue, it was dismissed as "It is against policy to help you replace a carbon monoxide detector. We will have to request a technician." Even after explaining it, these braindead policy-lovers just went on and on about the same point as though they were a broken record. An automated machine that responded to input would have been better. Frustrated, I hung up on that one. Things were getting agitating, and I just wanted our security system to work. For context, Emisol left it in coding mode, not even bringing it back to usable state. So, if we get robbed in the next few days, it will be Brinks Home's fault. Back to where we were though, I am now at the FOURTH call. I was tired. I was drained. I just wanted to give up and call a technician, because they definitely succeeded at overloading me with B.S. and making me feel like nothing I said mattered; Everyone except Emisol, but that's a mere footnote to this nightmarish story. The fourth call was met with a deadpan woman by the name of Nadi, I believe. Despite also being a level two "support", all Nadi did was give the same answers and responses as Emisol in terms of fixing our box, but with an even WORSER microphone. We had our volume up to maximum, and she was still unclear. A testament to how outdated this company really is. Digressing from the deserved contempt however, she gave us an answer worse than not helping, NOR even offering a technician. Nothing. At. All. Damn sweet nothings. Vexed at this point, I asked why when I repeated to her the situation of replacement AND BEING TOLD TO CALL BACK. What did she say? Some mumblings about policy. The people here are incompetent at their jobs, and the company is living in the past with this kind of atrocious "technical support". In our case though, it bred more problems than it did solutions. Now we have a broken security system AND no carbon monoxide detector. Although this review comes off as a bit zealous, I hope you, the reader, will at least leave knowing this. Within the past month, the panel broke. I spent over tow hours on phone to try and resolve with tech help. This was not successful. They shared for $200 they could send someone out and I declined saying that it is their equipment and there should be no charge since the tech on the phone could not assist with fixing the problem. We have been with them for years and needed a change since my family was not safe and had no system to protect them or our house. WE have two boys with severe medical issues and require nursing and support around the clock so we needed the system. We switched companies and I called today to end services. I was advised that I had to buy out my contract (which I never agreed to) of around $1,000. They said when we moved in 2019 that this extended my contact by 55 months. WHAT? I never agreed to this and it was falsified and had a hidden agenda This is so infuriating. They are liars and manipulators and stealing my money. The refuse to close my account. I am in the process of having my bank cancel their info and deny access. I cannot take off the bank info unless you put in another payment form and they refuse to take it off so they can continue to steal from me. I do not want anything to do with them. Well lo and behold after one week when I tried to cancel the stall started... numerous calls... many hours on the phone and not been able to cancel. They sent technician to remove the systems but state that I still have to pay the five yrs monitoring fees. Complete rip off business... and they send me notices that if I don't pay they will ruin my credit rating. Complete disgrace of a company. I purchased a home with this system and tried to schedule an appointment but was diverted to create and sign up for an account first. THen I had to call multiple times to get a service appointment to even get the system working. I was "no showed" on once and had to call and spend several hours on the phone with a supervisor to only be told they never had my appointment and needed to reschedule. I agreed and made an appointment for the next week. Then I just received a cancellation phone call again? We recently discovered that we were being charged monthly for a brinks home security system at an address we hadn't lived at for four years. We also did not have a Brinks home security system at that address. We had a security system with another company. We are not sure exactly how this happened, but it has something to do with Monitronics and ADT both being affiliated with Brinks at some point. We contacted Brinks and they said there is nothing we can do because we had a contract, and we did not call to cancel. They couldn't even stop our upcoming payment because we have to give 30 days notice. We are out thousands of dollars for a system we never had. Awful customer service. Very rude and refused to give their name and also refused to transfer to supervisor. Installer left big jagged holes in walls when installing cameras. The wires run diagonally across the wall and arent hidden or run neatly. Cameras miss most recordings. They only record short clips so it is useless. You are only allowed so many clips per month then it stops recording. They do not disclose this. RUN AWAY FROM BRINKS read more
