Moved into house and was told to use ADS. Set them up, signed contract (never again!) and then was told MONI was monitoring company. The panel is constantly being "tampered", and no one seems to be bothered. I'm thankful nothing major has happened as I don't think they would contact us or the police. I was robbed using Brinks. Then, after I changed service, they kept charging me for months. After being promised by multiple representatives, including Alex in Loyalty that I wouldn't have to pay for the time when I didn't have service, they kept billing me. Exhausted, I finally just paid the bill. Do not use Brinks. I suggest a local dealer if their is one in your area. read more

You will get offered a lower rate, only to extend the contract longer. You will try to get out of the contract, only to be told you missed the 'auto renewal' deadline not to renew. You will be told a different story from each of the sales people trying to get you to suckered into a contract. Nothing is free with this company. Rate reductions only further extend your contract. Transferring equipment will only extend your contract. I had been a customer for over 10 years TRYING to get out of the contract ... and finally I just paid the fee to have nothing more to do with this scam. read more

purchased my home in February 2022. A contractor came to our home offering us a great deal with Brinks home security. We signed the contract not knowing it was a 5 year contract. A couple days later a technician was scheduled to show up & install our home security. Everything was working fine up until April 2022. I would set my alarm on "away" mode & when I would come back home it would be on "stay" mode. After that issue, the alarm would go off on it's own. I called the technical support center several times & they would tell me to reboot it. I would do it & still had the same issue. I scheduled a technician to come to my house on May 24, 2022 & was told he would bring a new panel to replace mine. The technician came out was not aware that he needed to replace my panel and did a reset & the battery on the panel wasn't charging. Once he left my panel was still giving me the same issues so I called back & they again wanted to do their rebooting & when that didn't work they said they could have a technician out by June 8th. On June 8th Robert came to my house and told me the panel was no longer working but he didn't have a replacement with him. I was told by Robert that Brinks would drop ship a new panel & it would take maximum 2 weeks. It is now September 2022 & I haven't had a working panel since May. I called again on Aug 6 & was told that my drop ship was cancelled by Brinks & that technician would call me to schedule an appt. The technician never called me so I called customer support on Aug 7th they said "someone cancelled, we can have someone call you tomorrow" I have still been getting my monthly payments deducted even though brinks is NOT providing working service at my home. I've called so many times getting a run around The worst part is they won't let me cancel bc I have a 5 year contract & they also won't give me a refund until the issue is fixed. I am not happy with this service. I am paying $60+ a month and not receiving proper service from brinks. They said cancelling my service would mean I am breaking contract so they would need to charge me $3,000 to cancel read more

I'm editing my original review one day after the initial post because a company representative reached out immediately (see response below). Ashley was appropriately apologetic and blamed my nearly four months of frustration on a "processing error" on their end. She said the account would be closed, the overdue balance written off, and the phone calls to my mother would stop. My conversation with Ashley was followed up with a phone call from her manager, Jason, who likewise expressed his regret and said an investigation would be conducted to determine how this had happened. Good for them. I'll revise my original one-star review to three stars. I'm still annoyed at the unbelievably sloppy handling of my mother's account, but I must give credit to the Monitronics management for monitoring social media and stepping in to make the necessary corrections. And my sincere thanks to Yelp for helping me get this problem resolved. Here is my original post: This company is terrible. Repeat: Do not do business with Monitronics (or MONI) or whatever they call themselves today. My elderly parents had a Monitronics system at their home in Lincoln, CA. My father passed away in 2016 and my mother moved into assisted living in Feb. 2017. Their house has been vacant since then and listed for sale. But the Monitronics bills keep coming. I've called the company, I've emailed, I've sent letters via US postal mail just trying to cancel the service. Every time I follow up, a company rep says they never received the correspondence. The worst part is they call my mother on a near-daily basis trying to collect on the "past due" bills. I first asked them to stop, then begged them to stop, and finally I've demanded they stop. (Kim Jeffries and Tanya) and it was "taken care of" Now, suddenly, they "did not receive" the first letter that I sent in June or July of 2010 and only the later one. However, they refuse to return my calls where I asked them to search phone records for my fax number, which one of their employees (Brittany or Tiana) admitted that they have the capability of doing. So, despite the fact that I have all of this information, including names, ID numbers etc and I have asked them to review the records for my fax number (VERY simple process) they refuse to admit they made a mistake. Putting that aside they SOLD a 10 year old debt that was NEVER restarted. So, they "sold" my $200+ debt and even the first collection agency realized it was a JOKE when I explained what happened, so they could not substantiate the debt, to it was removed from my credit. FI VE years later the company with the Identity Company (Brinks Moni/monitronics) BM for short, called the FIRST collectors and they "took the debt back" and sold it AGAIN to the lowest scum they could find. (who tried to charge me 4 times the amount that they lied abut in the first place!! Mind you the debt is now 10 yrs old (from a 15 yr old contract) and I have not made any payment since 2010 to "restart" the debt, but why would a security company care about the law? I was given the number that was supposed to be for the "customer service" director, Michelle Ramos, and have not heard a word from her. I am a convert from a "wired/telephone" alarm system! The Moni system is small, unobstructive and VERY easy to use. Totally wireless. Easy to set up. Instructions were simple to follow. I called Customer Service to ask a question about my service (I also have their 7/24) monitoring service, and I was connected quickly and my questions were asked and answered efficiently. I am loving Moni. It can be controlled from your phone using their app. This feature is great. Reminds you to arm the system if you forget and asks if you want it turned off as you near your home! This company has the worst customer service. I have been with them for over a year and didn't realize how horrible they were until I actually needed them. My alarm panel began to malfunction and I attempted to troubleshoot with tech support but was unable to resolve the issue, so they sent a technician over. The first technician arrived an hour before he was suppose to - my appointment was from 1-4 and he arrived at 11:30, because he was unable to wait - the appointment was rescheduled (due to Covid my kids and I are working from home; I can't have him setting the alarm off before 12). The second technician, Emily, was extremely rude - said their was nothing wrong with my panel and that I needed to take anything their "tech support" and "customer service" said with a grain of salt. According to her my panel was perfectly okay and she seemed not to believe me when I explained that it went off at 4 in the morning for no apparent reason and Brinks never even called to check if my family and I were okay. Then this women had the audacity to want to charge me $50 for the service - that did nothing. Once Emily left I tried to contact a supervisory - to make sure I would not be charged for this none service and have been on hold on average 1-2 hours for the past 3 days and have been able to speak to no supervisor. This is the worst customer service ever - all these people are interested in, is collecting your monthly payment but have zero interest in customer satisfaction or even safety. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!! I have been attempting to cancel since May 2, 2016 (a date just confirmed by their billing rep on 07/30/17). They have managed to keep billing me even after a credit card account was closed due to potential fraudulent activity - they were rolled over into automatic billing with my new account. I was told today that I would have to talk to their cancellation department during normal business hours and that I would be required to send ANOTHER cancellation letter, with very specific things listed. I ALREADY DID THAT OVER 1 YEAR AGO! I do not have an email copy because I was told it had to be a physical letter. THIS TIME IT WILL BE SENT REGISTERED MAIL. (Plus - who doesn't use email communication this day in age? Someone who wants to be able to claim they "never received" a letter??) I will post this on any site I can. My home security service was sold to Brinks and the only thing they ever did for me was to auto debit my personal checking account and continuously raise my monthly monitoring fees without any notice. When Brinks first took over my home security monitoring, I requested the solicited free yard signs. Those were never sent. When I attempted to cancel my service, they continually tried to sell me continued service at a lower monthly fee. They disregarded my repeatedly declining of continued service and kept harassing me in trying to sell me their continued service. Additionally, they charged me a $25.00 returned check fee after my cancellation, because I had contacted my bank to block Brinks from auto debiting my account. They then threatened to send me to Collections for it. In my repeated attempts to just pay them and get rid of them, Brinks started charging me late fees in spite of my repeated attempts to pay them. They don't answer their phones, instead my calls were just dropped. Efforts to communicate with them online were unsuccessful. They are thieves! I never had an issue in all of my years with Protect America. Once Brinks took over, it was a nightmare. read more

I canceled my service due to military orders last month and they said September was my last payment then all of a sudden I'm charged in October and now they're saying because mine was canceled in the beginning of a billing cycle. Terrible, Heartless! I have been trying to cancel my parents service since February 2017. My mom passed away in September 2016 and my dad moved to a memory care facility. My mom was my dad's caregiver. He has dementia. Moni would not even accept the Power of Attorney. Thankfully I knew their code word. I sent an invoice from the memory care facility that included the move in day. Because the invoice was not signed Moni will not close his account. They continue to bill me. I am completely disheartened by the lack of human compassion. I am trying my hardest to do the right thing with their bills but I will not pay for service that he did not get. HORRIBLE SECURITY and CUSTOMER SERVICE! I would absolutely NOT RECOMMEND Brinks Home Security. I had their security service for 2.5 years. During the summer my home was for the most part unoccupied as I was on vacation for roughly 4 months. I would periodically return to check on my home and unfortunately had a break in. My system was armed and with the interior motion, window and door sensors, the system did not alert myself or authorities. After this happened decided to request a technician come to install more cameras on my home to further secure the exterior. The technician arrived upon schedule but did not have the equipment I ordered, he changed the 3g chip in my control panel for the system and nothing more. I was told by costumer service that a mistake had been made and my cameras would be mailed and I could reschedule a technician out with no other charges. The cameras did not arrive and again my home was broken into while I was away. Now I have been charged $400 for a service charge that included cameras and installation, which never happened. I am being charged for a faulty system that does not protect my home. I have called customer service numerous times to resolve these absurd baseless charges. I have received the run around and at one point was hung up on. This is all while spending hours on hold be transferred with absolutely no results! I have recently attempted to cancel service that has served me no purpose and was told that in order to do so I must pay charges equivalent to two years of service. I am by far unimpressed and furious by the lack of customer support! I would recommend a local security service. They trying to have me pay for a service I didnt ask for, nor was I aware that it was being done. You dont just fix something and tell the customer you owe ex amount of money. You see if its something their interested in paying for first. The technician was the worst and the install caused damages to my home. I called to cancel my service in May 2017 because the house had sold. I continued to receive monitoring bills for a service that was no longer active and a house I did not own. In July I called back to inquire why I was continuing to be billed for a service I had canceled. I was told Moni send me a document to sign, that I do not recall receiving and a search of my email including spam and trash did not turn up. They resent me this document which I signed and returned. Moni continued to be bill into August even after I had signed their required document. Now in September I have been turned over to a collection agency to pay a bill for a service that I had canceled and for a house that I no longer owned. read more

I have been dealing for a OFFLINE situation for FIVE days and when I finally got a supervisor and after I explained my situation to him, he told me that they don't have anyone to visit an emergency calls and they usually schedule the appointments a week before. Beware they charge for unnecessary things and doesnt let customers know through phone or mail. We were there customers for few years. and paid them every month on time because I had card on automatic payments. Due some changes in our home automation system I had to discontinue the service. I called and spoke to the employee and cancelled The service. I am not sure why they would deceive me in this way. The lady said my account is cancelled. And they conitnued billing and adding the balance to my account. NEVER they called me or send me any kind of email to let me know that there is a balance getting added to my account. Poorly managed company. Is a -10 rating available? Wife and I purchased a house in SC that had an existing Brinks system. After closing we called and signed up for their service and were told that we would not be able to use the system until they could send a tech out there to check everything and set it up for our account. Ok, sounds good so far. Then we are told that the first available appt. is a month a way. Ok so while we are trying to sell our house up north apparently we cannot access the alarm system or the cameras...somewhat of a disappointment...but we persevered. So a month later we drive down (8-hour drive) to the new property (we are still trying to get our old house up north ready for sale) to make our appt. with the Brinks tech. A guy shows up who can barely talk because he can barely breathe due to medical conditions. Long story short, we spend the better part of a day helping the guy to do the check on the internal security sensors, etc. since he really cannot walk up or down stairs. When I ask about the pre-existing (Brinks) cameras, he states that he can do nothing about them because either they were too far off the ground (they can only go up 2 steps on a ladder) or the internet connection was bad. Remember...this was an existing Brinks system that presumably they set up for the previous owner. We were assuming (and looking for) a turnkey solution. Far from it. Now we need to, on our own nickel, purchase and install several wifi extenders and then contract with a 3rd party to get the pre-existing Brinks-installed cameras operational. So far a total cluster-fk. We will be cancelling the contract with these chuckleheads and will go with a company that actually understands the concept of customer service. And with regards to our tech...nothing against him and I applaud his work ethic. But the fact that Brinks would allow someone with his medical conditions to be their only tech in the SC area is dumbfounding. The guy has put in years of service (and has tons of knowledge) and should be given a well-paid desk job at corporate headquarters. Instead they let a guy who can barely walk up a flight of stairs handle 2 or 3 installs a day for the entire SC region. Flat out, his bosses should be fired immediately. Stay away from this company! They installed a new system in January 2017. In July while I was gone the system quit working. The panel was blank, no power and a signal had not been set to the alarm company since July 2nd. I never received a call the system was down. When I called for a repair I was told it would take 10 days to get a technician out to look at the system. After hours on the phone, and several calls to complain someone is finally coming to repair or replace the panel. I live in Florida. I moved into a new home in March 2018. Two door to door salespeople with Allstate wireless security came by to sell me a security system. One of the benefits of their system was that the contract (5 years) would move with me as would the equipment, cost free. Over a year later when we did move I called the local office back. After looking in my file I was given a 1-800 number. Here is when the sales pitch started. Apparently, that "offer" of a free move was only valid the first year of the contract. Brinks (Allstate is an authorized dealer for Brinks) wanted to sell us all new equipment even though our new home had a panel and sensors and a motion detector, everything we had had in our first home. We were finally able to convince someone (after 3 different calls) to send a technician to check out the existing equipment in our new home. We were told that the visit would cost $99 and that if the existing panel could be used it would be, if not a new panel would be installed. This is what ended up happening and I fully expected to be notified of the cost of the new panel and to pay the $99 fee. Instead I get an email about 5 business days after the technician left informing me of a "service change" which added 18 months to our contract term! I still haven't been able to speak to a customer representative (during regular hours to complain but I will). I would also like to write that after the equipment was installed in our first home the technician would not leave until I had posted a review (presumably a favorable one) on their website. This was downright creepy. Once the contract term is up with Brinks I will never enter into a security contract with them again. read more

Beware, installers not hvac certified, they installed equipment including fancy thermostat, it was not on correct setting and my heating and cooling unit were running at same time. Brinks never took responsibility, as installers were subcontracted. I had to pay my own Hvac tech to correct issue, they NEVER reimbursed me. If I hadn't noticed right away, they wouldn't broken my very expensive hvac unit, and I highly doubt they would take responsibility for that either! read more

My alarm panel is showing a double image. This is a known problem with the QolSys iQ2 panel. Brinks acknowledged that it should be fixed with a replacement panel at no cost as a warranty issue. After 3 weeks of waiting for an appointment they called me back and said they had no one in my area to service my system so they can't fix it. They said I would have to find someone myself to fix it and that they would only allow me $200 for the repair. The replacement panel is near $500. I have only a couple months left on my contract and will go to someone else once the contract is done. read more

The last two times they said they need me to sign a docusign email to cancel but never send the email. Now I have to write a letter to cancel. An absolute joke!!! This company has no customer service. When you try to contact them you are on hold for at least 30 minutes. Cancellation is impossible. They do not allow you to cancel on the phone. They tell you they will send you info on how to cancel. Then do not send the info and then block you from getting into your account. Only way is to put a cancellation on your end. My advise it so stay away from this company. read more

Brinks Home Security was our choice among a few Alarm companies we'd interviewed for our home in Texas. The sales rep, installer and certain corporate office rep and supervisor were among the very best we've encountered. The cost of doing business is superior to other security/alarm companies in the city. read more
