Good Shepherd is worse at communicating and even more terrible at responding. Dad's catheter was "backed up" for days. The nurse removed it altogether because she didn't have the right parts. Now Dad is uncomfortable and wet due to his incontinence and he doesn't want anyone to put a catheter back in. Because of his catheter being blocked for days and his confusion and agitation, we believe he has a UTI. We were told by the people answering the phone at the main number that it will take days to get his urine checked. We requested an antibiotic and some pain medication because Dad says he aches all over. Nope. We need a doctor's order. Again, lets just wait. I thought the main goal for a Hospice service was to keep the patients comfortable? Maybe they should think about changing their name... Update: I just spoke to Brandi Cooper who is AWESOME! If everyone was this thorough and communicated this well at Good Shepherd I couldn't recommend them enough. Hopefully, she was able to get everything between my Dad and Good Shepherd unstuck. We'll see.

I live 200 miles away from where my Mom was and they communicated with me on a regular basis and I was able to visit her a couple more times before she passed. Good Shepherd was vital in assisting her with pain control in spite of the nursing home not being prepared with her pain medication when she arrived there. I feel like they really cared about her and her well-being. I cannot say enough good things about all of the people who cared for her during this time and what a tremendous lifeline they were for me and my family. I would highly recommend any family that is in need of hospice care for a loved one in the Oklahoma City area to contact Good Shepherd Hospice.

    August 2023 I recently had very bad experience with…read moreCrossroad Hospice... A very tall man who said he'd be my case manager came to home. First day, was all medication, etc. Second day he was explaining nurses that would be coming in next day or so, etc...He did a count of my medications, I was fine with him being a little bit scornful telling me the prescription was typed in on numbered blister pack, top right, instructions all typed in. When Crossroads first came my medication was to be dispensed every 6hrs. Well I had experienced some new pain and discomfort in my throat and last Hospice had dropped me for 'non-progression of Lft Lung Cancer tumor' I let my Oncologist know and she of course said, how could they say that without a current 'Pet Scan'. Dr. ordered a new Pet Scan, and appt with her office. Sadly the new Pet Scan showed my tumor had doubled in size and moved into my throat. So, needless to say, it was way worse...on that day my Dr changed one of my medications frequencies from every 6 hrs to every 4hrs. So this took place on 2nd day of Crossroads Hospice. When man came and did medication count he instead of checking new orders typed on top of new pills that were delivered night before he started accusing me of overtaking my one medication and refused to look at typed orders on medication. Change made prior to new hospice from 6 to 4 hrs apart. Yes I know when you go on Hospice you no longer see your Dr, etc. You go fully under the Hospices care, no one elses. They have their own Dr who takes over your case & all desicions about it. I was in shock the way this man from Crossroads refused to look at my Oncologists change of every 6 hrs to every 4hrs on medication frequency when man with Crossroads just seemed joyous to accuse me of overtaking my pain meds and jumped up, refused to look at orders and treated me as though I was a drug addict and proceeded to leave all medication Crossroads had, had delivered and was extremely rude and left my home. He said prior to leaving I had overtaken 20+ pills! No, I had not! Dr changed frequency of pills to every 4 hrs from every 6. If you do the math it adds up! Not hard, but this guy seemed excited to accuse me and refuse to look at Drs change prior to Crossroad Hospice. Needless to say he gathered his stuff and ran out of house. After my experience with Crossroads that was a blessing. He was rude, condisending and refused to look at new orders made by Dr prior to Crossroads, etc...Not a good Hospice. Crossroads had a rep available…read morevia virtual chat to answer my questions in regards to possible service set up with my mother at 4AM on a Sunday and then was able to set up an evaluation with a nurse by 9 AM that same day. We were able to admit her immediately and by that afternoon had the hospital bed, bedside table, medications and supplies/equipment delivered. Their aides were professional, courteous and set my dad at ease. He is a tough ex-military, non demonstrative man, so that is saying quite abit! The chaplain, social worker, RN and aides were with us every step of the way. I would highly recommend using Crossroads for your hospice care and support.

    I've had Interim's nursing service off and on for the past 3 years. I've had several nurses,…read morephysical therapists, physical therapy assistants, and a social worker. I've had nurses I like better than others, but I've never had a single healthcare worker from Interim that was not completely competent. The agency itself is also very responsive. Since I see the nurses several times a week, when I find one that I feel very comfortable with, and I've asked to continue with those nurses, my requests have always been honored. The two nurses that I feel like have gone above and beyond their jobs to help me, are Rosalynda, and Yolonda. They've both gone out of their way to be helpful, accommodate all my little quirks, and simply make me feel safe, during these times of crisis. They also hold me accountable for doing my part in improving my conditions, but not in judgmental ways, but in trying to help me find ways to be more consistent. I can honestly say they've helped keep me out of the hospital, and to make sure I get the care I need from my other health care professionals. I would recommend interim to ANYONE needing home healthcare.

The patient in…read moregreat pain. 2 nurses, RN's, came out and told the aides to give the morphine-- this means, the aides were required by the nurses to draw up the morphine in the syringes. WRONG! First of all, aides are Not allowed to give meds from bottles. AND... aides are NEVER allowed to give morphine! This is a narcotic! Dangerous! I told this agency that the nurses HAD TO DRAW UP THESE MEDICATIONS IN SYRINGES which they finally did... well, sort of. The two grown children were in their mother's kitchen saying how there was so little morphine in the syringes. I had been a nurse so I asked them if I could look at what they were talking about. First of all, the 2 medications were mixed, put together in one bag. This should NEVER be! They should be kept separate. Then, the morphine bottle said one dose is 0.5 ml. What was in the syringes? 0.1 ml. The nurses had drawn up and the patient was given one-fifth the dose of what she was supposed to get! No wonder she was in pain. The son decided to give 0.4 ml since they had just given her 0.1 ml just before my arrival. It was then the patient finally was able to relax, out of pain, and she went to sleep. Her son and daughter told me their mother had not been able to sleep for 3 days. One nurse showed up soon after I notified the office of this. She had terrible attitude.
