We changed from one hospice provider who was not good at communicating after checking on Dad, to…read moreGood Shepherd. I wish we never would have changed. Good Shepherd is worse at communicating and even more terrible at responding. Dad's catheter was "backed up" for days. The nurse removed it altogether because she didn't have the right parts. Now Dad is uncomfortable and wet due to his incontinence and he doesn't want anyone to put a catheter back in. Because of his catheter being blocked for days and his confusion and agitation, we believe he has a UTI. We were told by the people answering the phone at the main number that it will take days to get his urine checked. We requested an antibiotic and some pain medication because Dad says he aches all over. Nope. We need a doctor's order. Again, lets just wait. I thought the main goal for a Hospice service was to keep the patients comfortable? Maybe they should think about changing their name... Update: I just spoke to Brandi Cooper who is AWESOME! If everyone was this thorough and communicated this well at Good Shepherd I couldn't recommend them enough. Hopefully, she was able to get everything between my Dad and Good Shepherd unstuck. We'll see.

It is with great gratitude that I write this letter in regards to Good Shepherd Hospice. We were…read morereferred at the right time to them and they were truly a blessing to us. I live 200 miles away from where my Mom was and they communicated with me on a regular basis and I was able to visit her a couple more times before she passed. Good Shepherd was vital in assisting her with pain control in spite of the nursing home not being prepared with her pain medication when she arrived there. I feel like they really cared about her and her well-being. I cannot say enough good things about all of the people who cared for her during this time and what a tremendous lifeline they were for me and my family. I would highly recommend any family that is in need of hospice care for a loved one in the Oklahoma City area to contact Good Shepherd Hospice.

My mother has been here for a year. I'll be honest, it's hard caring for another person. I cared…read morefor my mother for 3 years. However, knowing that, it's still hard not to expect more out of a facility that's existence is based solely on caring for those with memory concerns. But I will say that the facility is always clean. The staff are always nice. Communication isn't always exactly what I would like it to be but I understand that they care for many other people. Somehow her walker was lost and she didn't get a replacement for a while. She is now in a wheel chair. They have recliners that are comfortable and are placed in front of a large screen tv. The facility is composed of two buildings. They have a recreational staff member that coordinates crafts, outings etc. They also have a stylist that comes in and does hair for an additional charge. My mother pays appx $7000 for all inclusive care. So there are no tiers of care. It makes it simpler this way. The hospice company that they utilize, Frontier, visits her & offers physical therapy, a social worker, and other aspects of care. They are also very kind and will call us and give us updates. Overall, I am glad that she's here and is being well cared for. I was unable to offer the level of care that she needed so Iris was a great solution for us.

Bradford Village does not supply washcloths or towels but they offer pillow cases for washcloths and bed sheets for towels. If you have an emergency after 11 pm, they may take 30 minutes to respond. The staff was given instructions for the first night to be sure they put my CPAP on as I have severe sleep apnea. They finally put in on at 6 am. As per McBride hospital, since my blood pressure has been very low at times, to take my BP before administering my BP meds. They repeatedly give me meds before checking blood pressure. My left arm was in a sling do to shoulder replacement surgery and was delivered a pork chop for dinner. No one was there to cut up the chop. I could go on and on but I would not wish my worst enemy go to this facility. Breakfast was just OK. No dietitians to plan menues. Might get fried fish with baked beans. Offered Spice Cake for desert 5 nights in a row. I could go on for quite some time but just don't go here. If so, please have a family member closely watch over your care!
