Yves did an excellent job with my Mercedes car seat with a quick turn around. Friendly service as well as quality service.

    Upholstery By Ron/Fredricks

I wanted to write a glowing review. In fact, it's taken me months to figure what to say because I…read morewas so disappointed with my experience w/Ron/Fredricks, a place recommended by a furniture restorer. Let's start at the beginning: I gave Ron a check for fabric in July, with the understanding that my 8 dining room chairs would be done by Thanksgiving. We shook on that and I was confident this experienced man would live up to the agreement. I know upholstery work takes time and I didn't want to bother him but by Oct, I was getting nervous; I had a houseful of company coming for Thanksgiving & I was counting on the chairs. When I called him, the first thing he said was, "Oh, I'm so glad you called, I lost your phone number and couldn't get hold of you." Yes, this is an old-fashioned shop w/o a computer in sight but I gave him a check & I reminded him of that. He forgot. Then, I learned he had shoulder surgery and wouldn't finish the job in time - 4 months from the time I dropped the chairs off, which would've meant completing 2 per/month. His surgery wasn't my fault but now it was my problem. I had no chairs, so I spent $300 on a secondary set of chairs to get me through the holidays. When AT LAST the chairs were done in February, you bet he kept calling to get his $. Did he give me a deal on work that was supposed to be done months prior? Hell no. Even after I explained that I forced to buy another set of chairs to use for the holidays, he wouldn't give me a break. Even after I reminded him that he'd given me his word. Nope. Nothing. I left swearing I'd never return & I promptly tore up his business card. I've had upholstery work before & never dealt with such un-professionalism. He apologized for the break downs in communication, for going over the date for... but this man wasn't concerned with me being a satisfied customer and I won't forget that. He got his $2400 and weeks later, two of the chair seats of my chairs buckled, something he assured me was fixed. It wasn't. Save yourself money & frustration and bring your work elsewhere.

Without being asked they said "feel free to take as many pictures you would like". In an "old money" colonial New England town where some shop owners can be prickly or even hostile this was a wonderful experience. The textiles were beyond beautiful. If you know and enjoy top tier fabrics you will lose your mind here. Silk screened linen, pure silks, embroidered rolls in EVERY style...this place is a creative persons dream come true. And with friendly, casual, giving staff? It really doesn't get better than this. The prices are FANTASTIC! Strangely, we ended up buying a vintage painting they had. I wish I lived near this store so I could visit weekly. However, if you're looking for something specific and you're far away they will send pictures to you. I wouldn't be surprised if they offered to send you a swatch too. It's a true gem and rarity, if you're ever within driving distance to this shop GO THERE IMMEDIATELY !

They didn't require a deposit. The chairs look SPECTACULAR. The craftsperson removed some tufting, created new seat pillows and a denser cushion as well as new springs in the seat. My only complaint is that they never called me with the estimate and it ended up being more than I expected by about 30%. But, in a Safavieh catalog the chairs would have been much more in a lesser fabric, so I'm happy.
