But if you want a true care team--literally two doctors who will know your children by name, provide thoughtful and individualized treatment, and actually keep you informed--this is the place for you. When I first called, Anastasia let me know they're a smaller practice. So yes, I may wait on hold for a couple minutes while they're helping another patient--but I'll take that any day over the rushed, impersonal care we've experienced elsewhere. At the other offices, they'd order multiple bacterial infection tests based only on symptoms I described over the phone--without even seeing my children. That's not care--that's just billing insurance as quickly as possible. Sky Valley is the complete opposite. Coming from Lifetime, where the experience could be rather impersonal, I was very gun shy. But oh, was I thrilled with this find! Dr. Hussny's office harkens back to individualized relationships between doctor and patient. The office is small--three staff members, I believe--and the experience has less of a "big box store" mentality as many larger medical practices do in the area. Dr. Hussny projects a teamwork mentality focused on overall wellness, rather than just strictly dealing with symptoms and transient illnesses. Seeing a doctor with an approach that looks at all aspects--short, medium, and long term--sometimes can seem a rarity given our 10 minute appointment times with healthcare professionals. I didn't realize just how much I'd missed a solid doctor/patient relationship until I had Dr. Hussny in front of me, giving me that time and never making me feel rushed. The waiting area is a little small, but with only one practitioner seeing patients, it shouldn't be too crowded. The call began without any greeting, and she immediately told me that I needed to reschedule my appointment for next year because Dr. Silveria would not be available until then. I explained that I needed my annual checkup completed this year, not next year. I was told there were no available appointments, and the only option was to see another provider. The issue was not the scheduling change itself, but the extremely rude tone and lack of basic courtesy during the conversation. When I asked her to please speak more politely--especially since my appointment was being canceled--she hung up on me and canceled my appointment without my consent. This experience was very disappointing and unprofessional. After being a loyal patient for years, I expected at least respectful communication and basic courtesy.

During the interview, Dr. Theresa Shupe was seated in a position where I could see her in my peripheral vision. Throughout the interview, while I was speaking, I repeatedly observed her appearing to speak and gesture to the HR representative across the room, including what appeared to be pointing toward me and making mocking facial expressions. When I looked in their direction, the behavior would stop, or she would begin fidgeting with her hands as though trying to make it appear that nothing had happened. Whether or not that was her intention, that was how the behavior came across to me as a candidate, and I found it incredibly disrespectful and uncomfortable. I have interviewed with many healthcare organizations and have never experienced anything quite like it. The behavior struck me as extremely immature and was something I would have expected from a child, not a medical professional conducting an interview. The interview itself also felt disorganized, and it was unclear who was leading the conversation or what the overall process was supposed to be. Unfortunately, the entire experience left me with a very negative impression of the office and its leadership. If this is how a potential employee is treated during an interview, I can only imagine how that type of behavior might affect the people who actually work there. Obviously, I cannot speak to the experiences of current employees, but my interaction with Dr. Shupe gave me serious concerns about the possibility of a toxic workplace environment. At this point in my career, professionalism, maturity, and mutual respect are non-negotiable.
