This is a smaller store with plenty of space to move around and explore the excellent selection of wines. While the selection is not huge, it is filled with wonderful options that we have not seen in other stores. The prices were on the higher end, but were suitable to the types of wine they sell here. At Broad and Franklin, an easy walk from Marriott Custom House Pulse and steps away from Hilton Boston Downtown. (Not their fault it took us five days to learn how not to get lost marching up, down and around Broad, Batterymarch, State, Franklin, Milk, Congress, Pearl and Water.) Lots of interesting wines to choose from, many of them pricier than we wanted for our takeout pizza. I could have had a $22 chianti but I was happy to find a new-to-me cannonau red from Sardinia. Cheaper too! An older person at the register, maybe the owner, told me "good choice." Maybe she says that to everyone, but I chose to believe it. read more

Wow, What a great little wine shop in the heart of the Financial district. Brix is directly below my best friend's apartment and is so convenient to have so close. We went in for some wine and left with 6 bottles. The prices are very reasonable and the selection is great. This is not your ordinary wine shop, you can tell the owners take pride in what they do. The employees are very nice and helpful. After letting us look around for a bit she came over to ask if we had any questions or were looking for anything in particular. We asked what she had that was new and she made several great recommendations. Besides a collection of great wines, the shop also sells vintage barware. I was completely impressed with this shop and really liked the look of the tags they hang from the bottles with the price. Much classier than the little price stickers most use... Our day started (or the day before ended...) with a Red-Eye flight from San Francisco. So, by the time we strolled into Brix Wine Shop the first time at 4 PM, we had been awake for nearly 36 hours... we randomly entered Brix because of its enticing front entrance. Once inside, we glanced at several bottles of wine but decided that we didn't want to add a heavy bottle of wine to our load of purchases... Before we left, the sales women let us know they were hosting a wine-tasting and appetizer event from 5 to 7 PM that evening. I inquired about the ticket price and was pleasantly surprised to hear that the event was free. A chef would be signing his book in the back and providing the food samples paired with wines... Needless to say, we decided to head back to Brix at about 5:15 pm. We felt like quite adept travelers having discovered a classy free wine and appetizer event within 12 hours of landing in Boston... The wine samples were delicious and food was scrumptious! We tried salmon served on special spoons, grilled shrimp with grapefruit, and endive leaves with veggies and cheese. Yum! I know I should have bought the book to be signed and all of the tempting wine but I will have to come back to do so next time... Brix Wine Shop definitely deserves my business and yours! read more

I come here every day I get back from work in time. It's right in my neighborhood but it just closes so darn early. Really great selection and Jessica who works there most days is super nice. I went to the first BRIX by Night here earlier this year and had a great time sampling some '05 burgundy wines The prices are a bit steep, and I did notice that a case of wine I wanted to buy there was available at another retailer for half the price. It is a great little store though and you can't go wrong when you stop by. read more

Upscale wine store without the pretentiousness. You know those stores you walk into all giddy because you know you will be walking out with something amazing? That is how I feel every time I come into Brix. Whether you are looking for a high end wine,or scotch, or craft beer, or tequilla (they don't just sell wine!) or something more reasonably prized to have with a pizza, the staff at Brix are always incredibly knowledgeable and more than happy to make a suggestion. I planned parties using the staff's selections on a few occasions and they have always made me look good! The craft beer selection is pretty outstanding as well and is sure to impress the most hard-core enthusiast. The prices are much more reasonable than you would expect when you walk into this gorgeous shop. The Brix Six is a selection of 6 different wines, packaged together in different themes, for a discount price - they make fantastic gifts or are a great way to fill up your wine rack. I have discovered many great wines that I might not have had the opportunity to try if not for this awesomeness. I am not by any means a wine person. Give me a cold beer any day and I'm a happy camper. However, some times an event calls for more than a six pack and a slap on the back. That's where Brix comes in. The selection is fabulous - there are wines of various types and price ranges. Sometimes I just wander through and make a selection based on a fun looking label. But when I am presenting a hostess gift to a self proclaimed wine connoisseur, I always ask the friendly sales staff for help. I love that by naming what meal is to be served and what types of wine I know the host/hostess likes, the staff can present me with a multitude of choices. They have always suggested wines within my budget. One time, the saleswoman's favorite choice was half the price of what I was willing to pay! Score! I was their third customer and although the guy in the three piece suit (I think they were just dressed up because it was their grand opening) did make a face when I asked him what bottle would go with chicken sausage pizza, he picked a splendid syrah. The prices are a little high but this isn't Barefoot people. Went with a friend to their Alsace wines tasting...real wine glasses and the guy who was serving really knew his stuff. Conveniently located in the financial district, extremely knowledgable staff, and broad selection of mid-priced and pricey-priced wines from around the world, especially given the relatively small size of the store. Absolutely perfect if you want a nice bottle to bring to a friend's house, or don't mind indulging in $15-$30 of cheer for night at home. They also do free tastings on Thursdays and Fridays, and (although I did pick up a bottle) there's very little pressure to buy, unlike some other places. Edit: Lowering to three stars. I went back to buy a nice bottle of Riesling, specifically said that I liked dry Rieslings with lots of bright acids. Bought a bottle based on the seller's recommendation -- brought it home, and realized it was 8 years old. Didn't age well at all either. It was like drinking orange pancake syrup. I don't think I would have even liked it when it was young! I mean... what the heck guys? read more

This wine shop is nice and always has an interesting rotation of wines. I don't ever find deals here but they give good recommendations. Although overall (the store is close to my office and I've been here at least a dozen times) I like Brix, I've got to say that the staff is not particularly friendly. Come on people! You work in a beautiful freakin' wine shop! Smile! I've been to a couple of their wine tastings and the wine experts delivering the tasting is always knowledgeable and fun. Cheers! It's an upscale wine shop with some very reasonably priced and tasty options. As long as you remember that a large price tag does not always mean it's a better wine, you can find some very good bottles with or without the help of the incredibly knowledgeable and friendly staff. And, of course, the Thursday tastings. The store is basically across the street from my work, so I just stop by at least 3 weeks a month. The selections have always been interesting (regional/national focused, from just one vineyard, non-corked wine). And sometimes they have special non-Thursday tastings, like the incredible Champagne one they did in early July. They also have a "six-pack" deal, which I for some reason find pretty amusing. read more

I really enjoy going to Brix Wine Shop. For me it is very convenient as I work in the Financial District. The ladies that work there are always helpful and pleasant. The wines are all from small producers. Pricing is reasonable , you can get nice $20 dollar wines and go up from there. I have never been disappointed even gambling with the monthly Brix Six. They have remained open during the whole coronavirus fiasco, so drop in or have it delivered, lets support these small businesses, you lose the right to complain if these restaurants, and wine shops don't survive and have to close down. read more

They have wines from $10 on up to the high end stuff and also have a selection of craft beers. I went to the Broad Street location and if you work or live near the Financial district this would be the place I recommend. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I told them what I enjoy drinking and what my budget is and they made some GREAT! recommendations. I was very happy with the selections they suggested. I went to the wine tastings they have on Thursdays and had a blast. I picked up 3 bottles and will certainly go back for more. You cetainly wont walk away empty handed after visiting their shop. 5 stars for service, knowledge and selections. read more

A bit pricey for the bottles they carry. Seem to be interested in selling you what they have on shelf rather than matching what you want with the right bottle, at least for Bordeauxs. The shop is nice, staff pleasant and they have a reasonable selection of widely available wines. read more

Brix is horrible. If you want a good wine buying and/or wine tasting experience then avoid this location at all costs. The staff are arrogant, snobby, and unhelpful. They act as if they are doing you a favor by doing their job and answering questions or providing service. The wine merchant conducting the most recent Thursday tasting even exhibited this snobbery! If you like over paying for things and being treated poorly than this is your place. As a patron of many wine shops in Boston, I assure you that there are many shops in Boston that are much more deserving of your business than Brix on Broad. Many of the reviews for this location tout it's convenience and it's free tastings. Let's face it, if something is convenient and free it's hard to find fault with it. However, this location is only convenient to a minute subset of people. Furthermore, most people attending the tastings drink the wine and leave without buying anything. This is a testament to the overpriced nature of the wine and the poor service. I remember when Brix opened it's first location in the South End. The zest for wine and for service that made that location a success has been sadly lost on the Broad Street venue. Do yourself a favor, find a better wine shop. It isn't be hard to do. read more

Wine selection was not very interesting, and I was puzzled at some of the wine bottles they had for sale. Prices did seem good on some of the bottles, however many were over priced. It would be fine to come here if you were in a bind for a bottle, however. read more

I have visited the store on Broad Street at least six times now and have yet to be disappointed. They have a wonderful selection of wines and are always willing to help me make a selection that fits my needs and budget. Plus, I joined up for their monthly emails and really enjoy the "featured" wine and write-up they send along with it. Great store! read more

This is an absolutely beautiful store. I work in the area and this is my go-to wine shop for gifts and for those days when the only thing to cure the long work day is a bottle of really great wine. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is because of the pricing. I bought a bottle of wine as a gift for my boss one Christmas, and when I was home for the holidays, I saw the same bottle in my hometown packy on sale for less than half the price. A little annoying for 2 reasons - 1) I could have paid under $10 for the same bottle of wine, and 2) what if my boss knew that I bought her cheap wine as a gift??? But all in all, I highly recommend this store. I've found some really great, cheap wines (for myself) and the staff is always willing to help. read more
