Here's a cool tree we stumbled upon!

I love this park, it is huge and beautiful! My husband proposed to me here and we try to visit every time we're in the area!

My absolute favorite park in the city of Louisville. Massive park systems that connects to multiple parks, walking trails and amazing sights. Thai particular portion of the park has a very large spray ground that I've taken advantage of numerous times with my children. It also has a massive playground area. Fair warning though on hot summer days when going from the splash park to the playground to have the kiddos and adults put on shoes. They use rubber matting and it gets scorching hot on the bare feet. This park if you keep driving through does eventually connect to turkey run park and the brown foreman silo which is a cool sight seeing opportunity. I've yet to discover all trails and probably never will as there are so many options. The small walking trails towards the entrance are very peaceful, moderate difficult and beautiful. I can not recommend this park enough. Every time I go I fell like I discover a new part. Always lots of fun and adventure for all ages.

I cannot believe it took me this long to visit Broad Run Park at The Parklands of Floyds Fork! This has to be my new favorite park! I met with a new friend Sunday and walked about 5 miles. The paved path is covered with some shade and is very easy to walk. I think it would be great for someone wanting to rollerskate or rollerblade. There were many paths into the woods. My new friend showed me a few cool spots in the wooded areas. I'm excited to come back and explore even more!

Beautiful place to take the dogs on a hike, enjoy a bike ride, and enjoy the nature right here in Louisville.

Absolutely beautiful park! My dad wanted to show me some nearby parks in Fern Creek, and I'm so glad that he showed me this one! The ones I normally go to are fairly small, so when I visited Broad Run, I was astonished by its beautiful wide open spaces. It's got just about everything. Walking/running/biking trails, lookouts, and a fun, good-sized playground for children. Not to mention it's also got a small creek if you're into kayaking. There are multiple parking lots, and overall just a nice, safe family-friendly place. Can't wait to come back already!!

This park is absolutely wonderful! The splash pad is quite big where the kids have fun running around. There are two parks attached to the splash pad that can accommodate little and bigs kids. Covered picnic areas are available for families to eat and also to have celebrations but its first come first serve. Bathrooms and water fountains are available for use as well. Animals, skateboards, grills, bikes and scooters are prohibited. Throughout the park area there are walking/running/biking trails. There is a silo that you can climb and look at the beautiful view.

Great park for families. Lots of open spaces, playground, sprayground, and trails are well kept. Park is dog-friendly (except the playground areas), assuming dogs are to be kept on-leash. I love walking my dogs here. Beautiful all year with native plants galore. I have seen many birds and pollinators as well as a few snakes on my trips. Highly recommend!

Since this is located near our cabin, I'm sure we will be back at another time when the falls are full. Just not this time around. What is there to say? Well, they have a ton of walkways that were added, making it accessible for all types of people. This isn't ADA accessible, but it is an easy up and down for those who can't move strenuously. There are places to sit where you can go underneath the waterfall when applicable, and it offers a really pretty view from almost all vantage points. Upon arriving, we found a nice parking area, along with a port-a-potty. There were several little picnic areas and seating areas within feet of the parking lot. This is definitely one of the most accessible scenic areas we've been to. There are stairs with handrails heading down into the gorge. You can walk across the falls on a wooden bridge and then head down more stairs to the bottom. At this point, you can either turn around and head up, or if you're more adventurous and want to head off on a less groomed path and over some rocks, you can do that! Unfortunately, the waterfall was not flowing when we were there. I had assumed it always was, so was a little disappointed at that. I have since read up on it a bit and it seems rainy season is the best time to go to see the falls in all their glory! However, since it was dry, we could climb over rocks and explore rather safely. We hiked for a while and then turned back, as we weren't sure how far it went and we needed to hit the road. We spent about 30-45 minutes walking around and taking it in. You can make this stop in as a little as 5-10 minutes if you wanted. Longer to explore! It was beautiful! If you're in the area and have time to stop, I recommend it!

After an unusually cold winter, we recently had a day warm enough day to return to Bernheim, and we chose a shorter trail due to time constraints. We hiked the Knob Top Trail and really enjoyed the peacefulness on the trail (we saw no other people on this trail today). The Knob Top is not one of the more popular trails, but we really enjoyed it. It is rated by Bernheim as "Difficult," but I would say it is moderate. It can be hiked as an in and out (this is what we chose to do) or as a connector between "Two Ponds Loop' and "Lake Nevin Loop." It is a short trail, only 0.5 mi in and 0.5 miles out. The terrain is packed dirt, and as expected, included tree roots, rocks, mounds, ruts, and other obstacles. The hike is a gradual incline to the top (Inspiration Knob) where there is a pretty, green, decommissioned water tank. This was a perfect, short hike to ease into hiking season! Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash. Photos added to my original review of Bernheim Forest.

The hikes are very approachable, even for families with young kids. The trails are well-marked, not overly strenuous, and give you just the right mix of exercise and relaxation. My kids loved exploring the paths, spotting wildlife, and getting the chance to just run and play in a safe outdoor space. It's a wonderful way to introduce children to hiking without overwhelming them. For families, this place is ideal. The trails are wide enough in many areas for strollers, and there are plenty of spots to pause, take in the view, or enjoy a quick snack break together. It's the kind of place where you can spend an hour or the whole afternoon and leave feeling refreshed and reconnected. Outside of that particular experience (and once I was on the return down-hill), I realized this trail is short, simple, charming , and easy, with a few spots offering really pretty overlook views along the way. About halfway in, a babbling creek starts to follow you, hinting that you're nearing the final destination. Then you can hear the waterfalls before rounding a bend to reveal them. The falls are fantastic with multiple levels and a very peaceful melody. Just a heads-up: the trail begins with a walk down a service road since the original trail is now on private property, roped off as part of a very interesting-looking old house/building. At the end of the service road, there's a short but steep uphill path path to rejoin the trail. After that--smooth sailing.
