Wow who knew this hidden gem was tucked away in the middle of a swanky Prospect subdivision?! There's about 4 miles of hiking trails and I would recommend you do them all!The red trail is probably the most secluded and the prettiest - they all are listed as "moderate" but they're really easy trails unless you are mobility hindered- standard dirt trails with roots etc. Pretty vistas of the woods and Harrods Creek itself with lots of kayakers. There's a really nice launch area for kayaks and canoes as well. Not really any picnic areas so it's mostly for hikers although there are three or four swinging benches along the orange trail to sit for a spell. Trails are well marked and maintained, you will not get lost. Parking area holds about a dozen cars and has restrooms. Pro Tip- if there's lots of cars along the street there's a good chance the lot is full. Park on the street and there's a side trail by the big green sign which leads to the lot and Blue trailhead. The road itself is very narrow to walk down.

Hidden gem in Louisville! I grew up here and never knew there was such a beautiful waterfall around here. We went over the summer and rented kayaks from Nachand Canoe and Kayak and kayaked down the creek to the waterfall. It's a long ride to the waterfall but definitely worth it. Once you get there you can walk up the waterfall- yes, through the water up the falls! It's an awesome experience!

The orange trail, starts out flat.

This is a beautiful space. The trailheads can be accessed near the intersection of Deer Creek Dr and Montero Rd in Prospect. Drive into the park to park. It's a short one lane road in and out with cutouts, be careful with oncoming traffic. The trails are well maintained and very well marked, I like both. If you have children this is the place to go. It seems quite safe with not many areas for a child to get hurt. Of course keep them on the trail and in your view. We did not have any snake sighting on our trip here but I'm told that had it been a warmer day, there might have been a few out on the outer edges of the trails. The blue and orange trail are relatively easy with the blue trail starting with more of an incline. One this trip we opted for the Orange trail then switched over the the Blue trail. On the Blue trail there are a couple of lovely little bridges, we stopped and had our lunch on one of them. Photographers this is one of those spots you just can't go wrong at, gorgeous photo opps every which way you turn. I will definitely be back as this is a trailhead that has it all, beauty, a well marked path and it is kid friendly too. I great plus when we want to take our grandkids out.

Everything about this park is unexpected. Its nestled in the middle of a nice neighborhood, even the entrance is underwhelming. Now when I read other ppl reviews they made it it seem it was a nice walk to this amazing falls. All lies! Okay so we took the path thru the woods. This is a very long path with no clear directions to the fall. It was not just a walk it had hills that were challenging. Then we came down to the beach area. No falls...walked along the beach no falls. What we did see was a huge foot long fish in the water by the rope that hangs from the tree across the creek. This large fish stayed in one area eating bugs on top of the water. Now as adventurous as I am nothing was inviting about swimming past that guy. Now along the stroll there is a butterfly haven. There were atleast 50 to 60 butterflies of different species. Beautiful. So we finally asked some other ppl that were chilling in the water. They poi Ted to the other side were this little trickle of water ran down some rocks. I was confused, is that the waterfall. They said no you must cross the creek and climb the rocks. So what do i know..I know there are large fish in the water, I know I dont have on a swimsuit, nor do i have water shoes. So I was convince as they said it wasn't deep. I tied my shoes around my purse which I tightened to make higher. The little rocks at the bottom hurt! Then the big rocks are slippery. The water came to my waist. Again not prepared for this. Got to the other side and found it difficult to continue like others up the rocks so I took the path. The park does not take care of the paths but i made it. The water was cold and refreshing. Very picturesque. I must say it was absolutely beautiful but what a struggle to get there. The straight field path has every step hill and the grass is tall. If you are disabled this is not the park for you.

Sandy beach, 1.25 miles into the trail.

This hidden gem is more hiking path then park. Nestled in the Hunting Creek Subdivison in Prospect, the 2.5 mile trail is easy and recommended for all fitness levels. You'll pass by creeks and deers will cross your path. There is a beach area at the end of the trail where the only sounds you'll hear are birds chirping and the gentle rush of the water. If you take a left at the split (instead of right to the beach), you'll head towards a small water fall. It was dried when we were there but has potential for a nice viewing when water there's water.

We rented a canoe for 4 hours and enjoyed every second of it. The lady up front was superrr nice and she was very open to rescheduling because of weather. My bf and I tried on life jackets while she grabbed our canoe and paddles and she pushed us out into the water. There are two paths, a scenic path and a path with food, both are very pretty though. We saw so many animals but I could only take pictures of so many. When you go to the restaurants you do have to tie up your boat yourself but that's super easy like even I figured it out. There are two restaurants on the path, a bar type restaurant and a seafood restaurant. We went to the bar and i'd definitely recommend it! Overall we had sooo much fun and I can't wait to come back again!!

We decided there to keep our original reservation since it there was only a small chance of rain. The staff on-site was super nice. They helped us load into the water & helped us get out. They had life jackets & various sizes so you could choose one that fit. Unfortunately for us, it rained about 45min after we got into the water but we found some trees to hide under until the rain stopped. It was actually pretty cool experience to watch it rain. Super relaxing. It was a nice kayak trip! Definitely will be back!

You can book your reservations online however we decided to pay up at the desk due to the weather. Didn't know if it was going to rain but it turned out to be a gorgeous day. First it is required to sign a waiver then you check in. There are several options. You can choose between the 2,3,6 or 8.5 mile trek. You can rent tandem kayak, single kayak or canoe. We opted for the tandem kayak $86.00 for the both of us and we did the 6 mile round trip. You pick your life jacket, wait for your name to be called out and you take a bus. From there they will drop you off depending on what mile marker you chose. The staff makes sure to explain where to not go and when you have to be back. Make sure you are back by 7:00 pm. Once you get to the river you pick your paddle and kayak/canoe and off you go. You may hit some rough shallow spots but for the most part, it was smooth sailing. Make sure to pack a small cooler for your drinks. Stay hydrated. We also kayaked to Little Miami Brewing and had a couple of libations. That was fun! Overall the whole experience was great and I had a blast. Coming back the staff was super friendly, helpful and laid back. I would definitely come back. This place rocks.

The location was easy to find on Round Bottom Road, big grass/field parking lot and well - set up registration area. Getting signed in and life jacket was a breeze. The shuttle to the put-in outside of Miamiville for our "Fletcher" paddle was a quick ride, and our canoe, kayaks and paddles were waiting for us. A staff member was on hand at the river for those needing a push in, but otherwise it was easy to handle on our own. And we were off! There were little rapids on the way for some fun, a few "beaches" for taking a break. It was a Tuesday and we saw people paddling the whole way, but did not feel crowded at all. Saw lots fish, a few turtles and a turkey vulture. We did stop at Little Miami Brewing in Milford for a break which was fun. Return to the car was easy and again staff on hand to take your equipment. Great time and we'll definitely do it again!

Their campsites are nice and right along the river by the ending of the kayaking trip. I love the fire things they provided. They are great for cooking on!! Bathrooms were a quick walk and I love the random decorations they have set out. I was unimpressed with the showers that they provide. I guess it is considered off-season right now because only one of the doors out of four was unlocked and there was poop smeared on the walls and on the floor... I understand not wanting to have to clean four separate showers but leaving one shower for everyone to have to use considering their isn't someone cleaning it daily is unprofessional and inconsiderate. Also, we asked for firewood and saw a pallet of it behind the building but wasn't allowed to purchase any. The hours on the store are flaky and I'm never coming in late April again. We wanted to avoid the crowds but that wasn't a good choice I guess. Also, tent camping left us hearing the neighboring tent guests sounding like hound dogs from midnight until 3 am. I went to sleep about 10 and woke up to sex sounds louder than anything I've ever heard. I was about to go offer them a pair of socks to shove in their mouths. Maybe I'm not meant for this lifestyle if there are no standards
