Visiting relatives in Jackson, they recommended Broad Street for takeout lunch so I treated and picked up the order. This review is strictly based on my Shrimp Po-Boy which had the worst fried shrimp I've ever experienced. It was cooked beyond belief and felt like chewing rubber. Breading was probably tasty had the order been properly cooked but could not tell. I had my wife taste a piece, she confirmed my opinion. Bread was buttered and grilled but did not have the feel of a real po-boy bun as if it were on the old side which is strange as the place is a bakery. I don't know what dressing was used, tasted like plain mayo. This is a strong do-not-ever-order recommendation. Fries were good, probably cut fresh. If I ate in, the order would be sent back to the kitchen. My replacement would likely have been better but QC on the takeout was lacking. I understand it's a popular spot in Jackson and was certainly full when I picked up the order. My meal, sadly, was quite forgettable. Come in for a late breakfast. Have not been here in a while, and was disappointed with the visit. Place was dark and filthy. Many tables not cleaned. Floors were dirty. Ordered at counter and the person taking order seemed to care less if I was there. Food was good. It always has been solid. But this visit, it was nothing special. Broad Street is a staple whenever I visit back home. In fact, it was one of hubby and I's first date spots before getting married! We are both fans of fresh food and Broad Street has it, not to mention the lovely bookstore upstairs you can visit before or after a meal. My most recent experience was setting up catering for little sis' bridal shower, and communication was swift with both Aven and Jaime. When party planning it can be very hectic, even for a smaller group, but the catering team was very helpful and answered all questions we had. We had at least 100 items altogether including sandwiches, pastries, and wraps and timing couldn't have been more perfect. Everyone enjoyed everything, except one thing I did notice was that the muffins and scones were the last things still left on guests plates, including mine. They were lacking luster in some area, and I am not exactly sure what. Flavor, texture, and moisture all could be culprits. But! Every single sandwich flavor was delectable! Why have none of my Jackson friends ever mentioned this jewel when I have been in town for conferences or other Convenient location, great vibe, customer service and food. Will make sure to stop in when coming this way for sure. I had breakfast. I had multiple options but ultimately decided on the hash-brown bowl over the spinach and mushroom omelette with goat cheese- next time. I'm not a cheese person anymore and forgot to tell them no cheese so I was really disappointed when the played arrived covered in cheese. To my surprise it was not throughout the dish but on top of the eggs that were done just as meticulously as I had requested- and it was a terrific tasting blend with the ingredients all being well seasoned. I added a side of multigrain sourdough (they have many bread options). I enjoyed my meal in the atrial of the building listening to music and various people come and go. Not too loud- I was able to have a conversations on my phone without it being too loud or intrusive on others. There are various dining locations inside and out for your dining preference. I absolutely love Broad Street! The desserts are divine and breakfast is really good too. Bakery - The cheesecake is to die for! No seriously, the turtle cheesecake is divine. My friend loves the classic New York style. I've also had KingCake here! It was so good and fresh. I'm typically picky about King Cake, but I definitely recommend. They also have cookies, muffins, scones, and more. Food - Breakfast OMG! So many choices - Biscuits & gravy, omlettes, low carb bowls with plenty of protein and veggies, avocado toast, breakfast burrito, etc. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong. Atmosphere - It's chill depending on when you come. Just know the weekends are super busy, so make sure you get there early. You can post inside the cafe, on the patio, or in tables throughout Banner Hall which houses Lumeria book store and some other boutique shops. Prices on food are reasonable. One slice of cheesecake is a little pricey, but it's a large slice and honestly worth it. Overall, this is my favorite place to get breakfast in Jackson! read more

I made a quick stop the other day on my way to New Orleans. It's been a long time since I've been there and from what I remember the food was good. I was promptly greeted and helped , I ordered a serving of grits and 2 turkey sausages. The Christmas decorations were pretty and you could feel the holiday spirit. I ate once I boarded the train to NOLA and my grits were still warm and delicious. Whoever they have making grits needs to teach a Master Class on Cooking Grits! Came to Jackson to visit some family and they recommended this place for breakfast. It's in this nice little building with other stores inside so after you're done eating there's a few places to shop at! At 10am on a Saturday it was pretty busy but it didn't take long for them to take our order. We got the Philly Cheese Omelette, French Toast, chocolate croissant, and an iced latte and vanilla mocha. The cashier was very nice and recommended us one of the danishes so we got a cheese danish as well. They also had a sample of kings cake that was very good! We really enjoyed the croissant and the danish! The croissant was very sweet and crunchy! Wasn't the warmest but we came kinda late so that was understandable. The cheese danish was also great! The icing was very good and the cheese was very creamy. The pastries both had a great flakiness and we really enjoyed them! Definitely a 5/5 for both The main dishes, the omelette and the French toast, were alright! Not our favorite, but we understand that this is a baking company first. Both dishes were probably a 4/5. Also our waiter Jade was extremely nice! Overall I really enjoyed my experience and we would definitely be back when I'm in the area! Broad Street is a local mainstay in Jackson whose service is only rivaled by the food! The owners are super nice guys who go to bat for their city while providing great food to locals. They have a new menu for breakfast and lunch and I am tickled pink about it. While keeping several local favorites, the new menu items are exciting and I decided for this visit to give one a try! I ordered the jalapeño popper melt and I was given the choice of bread (they make all of them in house). I selected the honey whole wheat and the house cut fries as my side. The sandwich comes with macerated balsamic strawberries. It's smelled heavenly when they brought it out to me. It was grilled perfectly but it wasn't spicy as I expected. With jalapeños and pepper Jack cheese, one would expect some heat but I got none. I did like the macerated strawberries but can only imagine how great it would have been if that sweetness was used to balance out the heat I was looking for. But I'm a trooper and left a review and the owner replied he thought the same thing and they plan to revamp the sandwich to ensure it has the heat the name promises. And this level of customer service is why I like to support local and will continue to support Broad Street! read more

So disappointed in the highly recommended Broad Street King Cake. It was a 3/10. The pastry seems to be made with a form of puff pastry/croissant type of dough which is fine, but we had LAYERS UNDERCOOKED. The doughy layers were easily seen and oddly not even throughout the cake? You can see some of the dense wet dough in the slice photo. This created a very dense and chewy experience. Cinnamon flavor was very subtle/lacking. The icing, sugar, and cream cheese tasted good but serving undercooked pastry is really tanking the score. It was still edible and overall an OKAY cake, but for a whopping $37 price point (the most expensive of local king cakes) I can't recommend their cakes off my experience. Is was in a very nice shopping mall spot. The parking lag was a little confusing and if you have a large vehicle, I would not recommend drinking that. I was expecting 5 star food and desserts but to me it wasn't hitting it. The service at the register was friendly but the servers weren't the warmest. I ordered a blackened chicken sandwich that has pepper Jack cheese, roasted peppers, alvacado and honey mustard Mayo on it. It was not very flavorful. I think it was the blackened chicken. It was kind of dry and bland on taste, and that's what brought it down. I also got a sticky bun and that was pretty good, but again, I feel like it could have been more boastful with flavor. My daughter had friend chicken tenders with fries and that was actually good. And my husband ordered their bourbon chocolate pecan pie dessert and it was alright. Very heavy on chocolate, kind of covering the other flavors. That's all we ordered. We went for breakfast but was too late for it. So it may have a better breakfast or better food on the menu.
