We were lied to. As we tried to put in an offer on a home, we found out that none of our pre approval paperwork was ever submitted. Also Mason Carrigan had ran 2 unnecessary credit checks, which had lowered our credit score below the qualifications for VA. He was insisting my wife's credit activity was to blame for my score dropping. During this time Mason could not be reached at all, whether during or after business hours or on weekends by us or our realtors. Subsequently we were not able to put in an offer and lost out on an excellent home. There are so many great things I can say about Broadview Mortgage and especially Mason. My wife and I had struggled qualifying for a mortgage. We spoke to a number of banks, including some of the major names, but unfortunately we could not qualify. We then spoke with one of the largest online lenders. They were able to get us approved via FHA, but this required a large private mortgage insurance payment every month. Mason at Broadview Mortgage was able to get us approved on a non-FHA so I do not have to pay for the monthly insurance fee. This helped us get a larger loan for a lower monthly payment. Mason Carrigan is the person you want to go see. I didn't realize how complicated getting a mortgage is these days. So much documentation is needed, especially since I am a business owner and self-employed. But they did help me navigate through this complex process. The highlight of my positive experience with them was when Mason Carrigan took the time to really go through my credit report in detail. By doing so, he found errors and inconsistencies in my credit report. Mason showed me that line item 8 on page 6 contradicted with line item 12 on page 10 ( the page numbers may be off a bit, but you get the idea). Attention to detail, who does that these days? I had shown my credit report to numerous other bankers but none found the errors Mason found. Bottom line, I was able to qualify for a house that I would not have otherwise. Got an extremely nice house that we love for and I believe we have even seen some appreciation on it already. I highly recommend Broadview Mortgage. The worst company I have ever dealt with. Its impossible to get through to anyone and calls are rarely returned. I worked with Steve Carrigan and his guidance as a mortgage broker was poor to none --- wrong information, delayed processing, sloppy file keeping, and RARELY received call backs or return messaging. I was steered to believe that we would go through the loan process quickly --- but it took 6 MONTHS --- at which time, after extensive documents were sent, paperwork, and more, I was told that I did not get the loan. Why? Because Steve gave me the wrong information that was critical to Underwriting's requirements. I made decisions based on his so called "knowledge", and got screwed in the end. Terrible intraoffice communication with these guys. I was referred to Broadview thru my real estate agent to get preapproval for our VA home loan. During preapproval they hard pulled my credit twice, and not within a 30 day period. Just far enough apart that they both will stay on my credit for 2 years. I don't know why you even need to do a hard pull once if we weren't planning on buying for 6 months anyway. A soft pull can give you a general sense of where my credit is at. At this point I was very clear with them that they should not pull my credit again without my approval. 4 months later as we are getting closer to put an offer down, I asked for hypothetical monthly payments if we were to put down an offer. Next thing I know, they pull my credit a 3rd time without running it by me. The best they could come up with was sorry, we screwed up, which was the exact same thing I was told after they pulled a second time. So now I'm stuck with 3 dings on my credit that will be on there for the next couple years, potentially affecting any future loan rate. They clearly don't know how to communicate with each other, or respect requests from their customers. Buyer beware. read more

I can not recommend Broadview enough!!! Especially Mason Carrigan!! We are first time home buyers and had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. I literally have nothing positive to say about this company. After 4+ months of calling, trying to get in touch with someone to assist us we finally got in touch with Steve. My husband spoke to him on the phone, explained our situation and Steve said he would send a link for us to fill out an application. He never sent the link, my husband had to e-mail him to get it. Once we got it, in September of 2015 we filled it out within days. We havent heard a word back from them since. We tried calling and we told his brother would give us a call. stay away from these people, MASON IS A know it all and thinks hes the king of helping people out, infact, he hurts people at the end. to him its all about the dollar. he will tell you thinkgs like, dont worry about paying your delinquint bills, just pay the small onse and i will get you your house. little that he knows that your credit rating does not go up that high after 3 days. he deters people from paying their bills and they mom and dad, Stephen and Carrie, should be aware of this. because I bet its hurting their business. just not fair for all read more

Terrible, do not use Broadview. We decided to go with broadview mortgage because Mason was listed on the calhfa website that he did those loans. When I first talked to Mason he was super nice and sounded very knowledgeable. He told me how much everything would cost and assured me that they are very quick in closing loans. We'll after a few months and a few rejected offers and 3 weeks of purchase agreement negotiating we had an offer accepted. We then paid the inspection and had a plumber come take a look as well. The day after that was done and we had the inspection contigency removed Mason tells me he made a "goof" in estimating our part of closing costs, a $6,500 "goof". Me and my husband discussed it and decided to proceed. Then I had to ask if closing was on track, Mason never told me anything until I asked. Then he said closing would be a week or two late and of course just like a used car sales men he tried to say some reason of why it was not his fault. We had a perdiem fee that we had to pay $100 every day it went past the original closing date. When I said we wanted broadview to somehow compensate for the 1,000 perdiem fees and 6500 "goof" he actually laughed and said he would see what he could do. They ended up paying the $450 appraisal fee. 450 compared to 7,500 is a drop in the bucket. Everyone makes mistakes, but it is how they handle it after they make a mistake that tells the integrity of the person or company. How they handled our situation let's me know they are not a reputable company. We were talking to a different lender, and we were going to switch, but there were some extenuating circumstances that made us unable to. read more
