I came to Galveston to attend UTMB, and now that I have graduated, I will be relocating to Houston for my new job. While I'm thrilled to be working my dream job, I am also incredibly bummed because I ended up falling in love with Galveston and my HOME at Broadwater! I NEVER in a million years thought I would have loved Galveston this much, and Broadwater only made my experience all the more pleasant. I have had many friends who were either too far from school or their apartment complexes made their living experiences a nightmare (smelling weird smells from vents, noise, mold, flooding, etc.). Broadwater has been an absolute breeze to stay at, and I hope whoever is reading this will consider it! I'm shocked that there aren't more reviews about this wonderful apartment complex. The staff is always so kind, and that does NOT change throughout your time living there. My apartment is a newly renovated one bedroom with vaulted ceilings and granite countertops, facing Central City Blvd. I LOVED it! It is so nice and cozy (and I'm NOT using the word "cozy" to mean small, because it was perfectly spacious for me AND my dog!). To make this post easily readable, I'll do some highlights. Pros: * Super kind office staff * Super kind / nonthreatening maintenance workers * BEAUTIFUL kitchen * Huge bathtub * PET FRIENDLY! and plenty of space and grass INSIDE the complex so that I can safely walk my dog * SO quiet! The apartment is structured so that there are only about 4 apartment doors per floor - so you won't be hearing a lot of people walking back and forth since it's only 4 apartments on your floor * The model I lived in was actually NICER than the model I saw upon the tour! * The pool is BEAUTIFUL and during my summer semester my friends loved to come over and tan and relax during study breaks * Speaking of studying, their clubhouse is AWESOME and the most perfect place to do group-study-sessions, or even just for when you need a change of scenery when you study. * Galveston FLOODS and some of my friends would actually be trapped and not able to get out of their apartments because of the flooding. Not Broadwater! I never had an issue with flooding in the complex and my route to UTMB was always clear * Never ever smelled my neighbors' cooking or smoking or anything of the sorts Cons: * Paint job on my baseboards and bathroom trapped in some muck -- so it looks like the baseboards / bathroom were not cleaned before they were painted and a few hairs were actually stuck in the dried paint. It sounds gross, but it was no big deal to pull it out. If you're a snot about paint jobs, this might irk you, but I personally didn't care. * Upon moving in, my apartment was super dusty -- but wasn't an issue to clean myself * With the change in temperature, my doors would settle and become harder to lock/open - but a quick call to maintenance fixes that issue * My old apartment in College Station had the option to set up an autopay for rent and electricity -- Broadwater does not have this option. However, it's no big deal to walk down and pay your rent. It was only a problem when I wouldn't remember until the day it was due and realize that the 3 days I had left to walk in and pay it were also the 3 days I had late classes and 12 hour shifts in the med center. * Not all of the units have washers and dryers in them, so that is an additional charge if you don't want to use the on-site laundry room (I opted for the hookups in my apartment and do not regret the convenience of that) * Facing Central City Blvd was fine, but sometimes if cars were honking and being obnoxious or if people were yelling, it would wake me up. But really, it was rare and a non-issue. Overall, my needs were met, which were: safety, quality, dog friendly, convenience in commute to school/groceries, and overall just enjoying where I am. It felt like home, is a well maintained property, and I always felt respected and safe :) read more

Just a note to commend the new team member Chris. I spoke with him about the communication problems and he immediately implemented written flyers in the tenants doors. That is so helpful for our older tenants. I spoke with him today about the poor hygiene habits of some of our smoking tenants and he said he would communicate my concerns to them. Do not get fulled by the prices of these apartments, they're a coin flip at best that you have minimal problems with your apartment. Maintenance is nonexistent and any problem you have better hope they actually come and fix it. Twice now I've have my AC break at 7:00 pm and called the emergency hotline to which broken HVAC is considered an emergency, but maintenance won't even show up until the morning (if you're lucky) or they'll show up two days later and just put a bandaid on it and then the cycle repeats itself. All the leasing office and maintenance care about is getting the vacant apartments ready to be leased out, that's literally it. Do not, I repeat do not get fooled by this company. Just go pay the extra $200 a month somewhere else on the island that has an actual maintenance staff and leasing offices that takes care of and fixes problems. Depending what you are looking for... If you are looking for a sloppy drunkin- party- place with loud obnoxious people at the pool at all hours, who do not live here, then your $1,000 - $1500/mnth will be well spent. If however you actually work for a living and are going to school @ UTMB, you will hate it. There is ZERO peace or quiet but for maybe a few days of the week. The office will do nothing about it during the day or after hours, (we're talking all the way up until 4 am). If you have to work @ 7 am to pay for this SH, or go to class, forget it! You can do it for a few days out of the week, but after that, it's physically impossible. On the grosser side, people (who don't live here) actually put their kids into the hot tub and the pool which isn't that horrible before they get there, it's normal usage by those that live here. But they are so inebriated disgusting and lazy that though they don't live here they have changing rooms they don't even use. Instead, they rip of the diaper and wash the kids butt right inside the water. It's a public pool at this point, and Fire Ants everywhere so you can't walk on the grass. Don't let them sell you on those amenities! There are better places and ways to live that are better and well worth the money, if you have to rent. Overall, if you live here you will be living with a nightmare with black mold, bedbugs and fire ants! read more

I wrote a negative review a few month's ago based on one tenants actions and it's not fair to hold the complex responsible for an "entitled" neighbor. I just want to say we finally have a manager who really cares about the people who live here.. The environment is very pleasant and safe The landscape is beautiful. I've lived here about 9yrs. I do not recommend staying at Broadwater Apartments in Galveston. I lived there for almost 6 years (May 2015-March 2021) and found this place to: lack professionalism and privacy; have poor or no communication with (maintenance) requests; making unethical decisions; and putting residents and themself in situations that should not happen. (A) If you reside on property, your privacy by management is not obligated and could be repeated to other residents - and/or gossiped/rumored about. (B) Protocol, by the leasing staff, indicates that you e-mail maintenance requests. However, you have to follow-up on those requests repeatedly before any of it is addressed (even months for leaks). This can lead to mold and other infestations and creating health hazards. (C) The office can and will draw up a contract four months prior and make you sign it four months later - while also making you backpay amounts that were not ever talked/agreed upon (fraud). (D) Forget making a complaint through Sheng-RAAMCO Management in NJ, the company who owns Broadwater Apartments in Galveston, they do not care and are "too busy" to address you with respect or any care. Best way to start anywhere with a complaint is through Galveston County Apartment Association and making a formal complaint on the record, especially on violation/s of your rights. I love living at The Broadwater, very quite charming property. I love that it's near everything. It's beautiful and proud to call it home Love my pool, hot tub, gym and if I could or they would let me, I would live in the club room! Gorgeous room. It's nice that the have free wifi in that area of the property. Laying out near the pool and getting on my social media is awesome. My little France's loves it here too, it's sweet that they accept pets. Actually the girls in the office are fantastic and love pets I can't say enough about this property. P.s. Really convenient and welcoming place to live. Is a gated and well maintained property and staff are very friendly. A lot of parking spaces available. Is walking distance to Walmart, grocery stores, the beach, and Seawall boulevard. About 10 minute drive to UTMB campus. Also is close to the highway via 61st street. My wife and I moved here longing for the beach. We love Broadwater apartments and the location of our apartment. We get up in the morning sit on our terrace with our coffee and enjoy the sound of the ocean and watching the island come to life. We have sunshine in the morning, midday shade and sunshine and sunsets in the afternoon and evenings. All of the neighbors are friendly, wave and say hello. The complex is Pet friendly to a fault. They provide nice grass areas throughout with convenient disposal stations so you can easily care for you animal. The staff here is truly amazing, from the office to the maintenance, ground crew and cleaning staff. Rose and Doree, in the office, can't seem to do enough for you and will go out of their way to provide information and service. The grounds are kept in such fine shape you would think you were staying in a five star resort. There is coffee, tea, hot chocolate for you and treats for your pet in the office. I go down to the office at least every other morning and I am greeted with welcome smiles and friendly hellos. I am never treated as if they don't have time for me. They are a busy staff and crew and I respect their time. My wife and I are enjoying our time here and we would recommend Broadwater to anyone. read more

The apartments are nice, luxury at an affordable price. The staff on the other hand, not so great. I filled out an application on Monday. Thursday still I had no answer from them, so I called them and they say that they were busy. Friday around 5:30 pm they called saying that they lost my application fee and still are processing my application. They say it only takes 24 hours. Why are they taking so long? read more

When I reviewed this place, websites said that it was quiet and the office staff was nice, but I have experience neither. The office staff is cold and aloof and clearly plays favorites with certain residents. Apartments are cheaply made and painting was clearly rushed to finish. I understand that construction is required to address update to the complex but the noise is ridiculous! It never stopped! Jackhammering sidewalks, cutting down trees, renovating areas...all is fine, but they DO NOT notify residents of these renovations ever! So I wake up early to random noises on my days off without any expectation. To get rid of birds in trees, residents have started blowing AIR HORNS during the evening. Even as late as 9 p.m!! When I talked to the office about this, nothing was done. There are multiple people that live in the complex, but the office treats it like only a select few matter. Avoid this Place. These apartments have major mold problems. During the summer I was unable to keep my apartment mold free. I even bought a large dehumidifier and it was unable to hold the mold at bay. They had to have the mold cleaned out of the ac ducts multiple times. The ac cleaner even told me the ac system design is very poor and i will continue to have mold problems. At one point my girlfriend got so sick from the mold the dr had to put her on 4 different medications. The ac in my apartment has gone as high as 87 degrees during the afternoon this summer. They never want to fix maintenance problems correctly but rather go the band-aid mickey mouse route.
