One of my…read morebiggest concerns coming to Galveston was finding an apartment which was safe, clean, and a reasonable distance from UTMB. Village by the Sea is a gated complex which is very clean and well maintained. You have families and students who live here, making it very safe. During the year, it takes about 10 minutes to get to UTMB (more or less depending on if you hit all the lights or not) and anywhere from 15-20 during tourist season. The location is great, as it is near all of the grocery stores, Walmart, and less than a five minute drive to I-45. The management is very nice and extremely prompt. When I submit a work order, I usually hear back from them by the end of the day or the following morning at the latest. They will send out emails a few days before if they are working on the building and need to shut off the hot water or such. Bugs will always be a problem in Galveston no matter where you end up living. However, Village by the Sea does a very good job at spraying the outside of complex and the inside of the apartments the times I've needed it. The pest people come every Friday and if you put a work order in, they will add you to the list and you will get your place treated the following Friday. Lastly, the biggest deciding factor was the pet policy. Village by the Sea was one of the few places that I found on the island that accommodates for large dogs (up to 99 pounds). Lots of people have dogs here which is great and there are plenty of potty stations and places to take your dogs out so everything stays very clean and there's not poop everywhere. Overall, I have enjoyed living here the past year and will most likely be renewing for the next year.

One more thing, during the week I was trying to reach them, 2 other things occurred, first, when the phone went to ring, after less than 30 seconds it would disconnect the call. I did try from different phones to see if it was just mine but it wasn't. The second thing was I noticed they increased their prices. I guess that is why they ignored calls. Bad way to do business in my humble opinion.

The staff here is really friendly, the residents are easy to get along with, I have heard of the great things about the site manager, Jose, Petra, one of the newer secretaries here, is an incredible person for the residents to talk to, their public facilities are very clean and inviting, their restrooms are over-par, and their location is right next to the water. What a bargain, right? From the residents I have had the opportunity to speak with, they seem to enjoy themselves. One day I came by, there were a number of people enjoying the pool. Their community room is so well-done. There are a lot of computers for residents who want to use their technology room. Did I mention that the staff is excellent? Having worked with a number of apartment complexes in the past, this is one place I can say that community is really important to all. Everyone seems respectful to everyone. For those looking for an affordable place to stay on the island, I would recommend you look here.

Location: Its basically beachfront, and private. So it's not a crowded beach. It's also so close to the seawall, and to restaurants/ groceries/ conveniences. I recommend Seawall Coffee in the morning for delicious coffee and food (only about a mile away). House: We fit 4 kids and 5 adults very comfortably. It has great communal space for games, movie night, etc. The house feels well taken care of and up to date. Can't wait to go back!

I want to share our experience with Pelican Pointe as well as Sand and Sea rental management…read morecompany for the weekend of 2/19 to 2/22/2026. Pelican Pointe is tired and needs resuscitating. As you arrive you notice rusted screws, nails and bolts that are staining the exterior surface. This makes one wonder about the integrity of the structure. The living room chairs and rugs are stained and dull. The laminate floor is cracked near the dining table and an edge is sticking up. The windows have water and weather streaks. The skillets are terrible as food sticks to them and they are difficult to clean. The saucepans are nice. The dishwasher has parts falling out from under the machine. The primary suite toilet paper holder was loose and wiggly. The bar b que pit has seen better days. I would think Sand and Sea would insist the house be in better condition for guests but this lack of desire for a sterling experience spills over into their lack of guest amenities. I have stayed in many airbnbs, vrbos, and realty managed properties across the U.S. This is one of the worst. It is poorly cleaned. The refrigerator smelled like fish. Food crumbs and particles were found in the utensil drawers. Cobwebs were observed under the kitchen counter. It is not adequately stocked with basic necessities. Sand and Sea provided a welcome pack of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, bar of hand soap and a make up remover pad. They do NOT provide bath soap nor gel. While my husband was showering with the bar of soap, I was washing my face with shampoo. More alarming is the lack of anti bacterial soap in the kitchen. If one is to wash their hands before handling food, they will wash their hands with the soap they just used in the shower and cleaned their genitals with. Being a medical professional, this is not hygienic. I asked for anti bacterial soap and bath gel during our stay but was told they were not provided. Yes, the home does have a coffee machine but bring your own K cups, sugar and crème. These are not provided. Also bring salt and pepper. These are not provided. Bring your own insect repellant as mosquitos swarm the area. Guests are expected to take out the trash upon leaving but none of the bathroom trashcans had trash liners so the guest has to take the kitchen trash bag from under the sink and go to each bathroom trash can and empty into the larger trash bag. We stayed for 2 nights and were provided 1 towel each. Again, being a medical professional, a fresh towel after each shower is needed. Yes, I could have gone to another bathroom's towel supply but if all capacity guests were present, still only 1 towel for multiple nights. There were some positives about this property. The view of the water was nice. The beds were very comfortable. The downstairs lamps have touch on/off and have integrated charging stations. It was a short walk to the beach. The negatives fully outweigh the positives on this property. I will not be coming back. I will never use nor recommend Sand and Sea again.

Only reason its one star is they let you out of your lease on a 60 day notice which I submitted after my car was towed.(I sent emails asking about parking passes when i first moved in, no response and one notice was sent out a day before parking was enforced!). A small thing but ac units are connected so if your neighbor is cooking asparagus or smoking weed your apartment will smell like weed or asparagus.

I lived here for 1 year during my fast track nursing program at UTMB. Please if you care at all…read moreabout your well being and health DO NOT LIVE HERE. When we initially moved in it was very hot the AC was turned down but it never seemed like the AC could catch up I just put it off and thought maybe it's hot from all the moving and door openings while moving. I was very wrong about this as the weather got hotter it only got so much worse until we were living in an apartment that would not get below 85 degrees. When I would have friends come over or visitors they would be sweating just sitting on our couch. They tried replacing the condenser after months of documented complaints which did not help at all. Hurricane barrel arrived and that is when the worst of this place happened. I was in the kitchen after a long week of 12 hour night shifts when I noticed a mushroom growing from the wall. The office was notified of a mold issue and stated they were going to do something about it and never did. Later it was discovered that the support beam on the side of the house split open and of course that wasn't fixed but to make things worse we were the corner building meaning it was raining in our house and the ceiling then came in and it had to be removed. A large portion of the ceiling was removed and we could see the sun shining in our apartment. The roof was not tarped meaning it was raining in our living room. I bought a meter gun at Home Depot to test the walls and they were mostly all saturated with mold growing behind them. The walls were never properly cut out by the contractor team because the office stated "we don't have the budget to repair everything that needs to be repaired." The repair guy stated the walls needed to come out then was told to shut up by the office lady and that she would decide to what comes out not him. after the altercation the office lady was letting herself into our apartment with the contract guy and adjusting our thermostat that could not keep up with the hole in the ceiling make our bill outrageously high. The walls were never tested or treated for mold and were not cut out completely. Also when the walls were cut there was no insulation behind any of the walls or insulation separating the ceiling and the roof. When the whole was cut in our ceiling birds and other critters were welcoming themselves into our home and flying around. After seeing this company cut corners me and my roommate decided to terminate our lease and sue this company which we won the suit. The damages were not repaired contrary to what is responded to this review please know it was not done properly. Nursing school and life was hard enough no body should ever be allowed to live in these conditions and whoever owns this company should feel horrible for jeopardizing the health and safety of others while driving a range Rover and carrying Louis bag. I care about the health of this community that's why I choose to be a nurse at UTMB in Galveston . Safe your money and spend it somewhere else that actually cares for your well being.
