Excellent place to live. The complex is very clean and offers many sidewalks and available parking. I lived in a 1bed/1bath 650SF unit on the third floor with my girlfriend and (small) puppy. It was small, but cozy; we even had family (7 people and 1 dog) come stay for the Christmas holidays for 1 week; it was just enough space to be comfortable too. No problems throughout the move-in process; not to mention the unit was SPOTLESS when I moved in. The only problems we had: out-dated appliances and 20+ minute drive to our place of work (downtown). read more

My experience at Lakeside at Campeche has been horrible. Management has been extremely disappointing and maintenance issues are not handled properly. I have dealt with roaches, unsanitary conditions, and ongoing air-conditioning problems. The A/C was reported, yet the issue was never properly fixed. When you pay to live somewhere, you should not have to repeatedly chase management just to get basic living conditions addressed. Poor management, poor maintenance, and a very frustrating experience. I would seriously recommend doing your research before moving here. read more

UPDATE 8/14: The day AFTER my daughter moved out, they replaced her AC unit. She has been complaining about it since she moved in last September. And it's been broken more than fixed during the summer. Apparently, you have to move out to get things fixed. That is not good service. UPDATE 8/12/24: My daughter is moving out. The AC is still broken. They put in a window unit that keeps her apt. at 87 degrees, and then tell her that they are working on fixing it. Enough is enough. read more

Managed by thieves. Reported me to collections (my credit score was 870) for $104 after moving out without sending a bill or calling or texting me first. The apartment was left spotless. They stole the deposit money paid instead of applying it to whatever incidentals. Basically did a hit on my credit score without giving me the opportunity to pay though I actually owed nothing. If anything, they owed me the deposit money. They do not answer phone calls, nor emails. They refuse to return my phone calls. I have reported them to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. read more

I accompanied my friend to the lease office to help her as an interpreter because she doesn't speak English. They rented her an apartment where there are cockroaches, the soap dish in her shower is broken, and worst of all, her bedroom window is broken to the point that when it rains a lot of water gets in and it is very dangerous because the apartment is located on Galveston Island where the danger of strong winds, rain, and hurricanes is obviously latent. The maintenance staff finally after many times of my friend reporting to the lease office all those inconveniences were supposedly to repair the soap dish, they were rude and threatening against my friend who was on the phone with a client because she works from home and the maintenance guys were making too much noise and she asked them if they could please come back later because she couldn't hear her client and that's when they treated her badly, which is too wrong first because she is a tenant, she is a lady and she is 65 years old. My friend needs to leave that apartment first because she doesn't feel safe and is scared because of all this and everything that happened and that still hasn't been resolved. My friend then decided to go to the office to give the 60-day Notice to Vacate because they haven't fixed the soap dish, nor have they fixed the window that they supposedly hired a specialized company to do, nor have they fumigated to get rid of the cockroaches. And she feels very unsafe in that apartment where she's been for two months, and despite the fact that the apartment is not in good condition and after everything that happened, they want to make her pay a fine, and not even the property investors have responded to her logical requests in the case. After all this, the manager told her that she would look into the possibility of my friend not having to pay the fine and my friend asked her if it would be possible to cancel the Notice to Vacate if the manager could not get her to not pay the fine, the manager told her that it would be possible to cancel it and my friend insisted that she does not have the money to pay the fine, but the manager did not respond if she managed to get my friend not to pay the fine, then my friend sent a letter where just as the manager told her, she decided to cancel the Notice to Vacate, but after several days and almost reaching the time limit of the Notice to Vacate, my friend has not received a response from the manager as to whether or not she managed to get my friend to not have to pay that fine or any other response. I hope that in the end my friend does not come out more harmed. read more

Where do I start..... broken AC for over a month which took a threat of legal action to get them to fix it, a window ac unit mounted with cardboard as insulation for open window, roaches I have to spray for frequently, hazards in the lawn around property, a month to receive washer and dryer I had been paying for, fake niceness from office, no word on reimbursement for heightened bills due to improper insulation, window leaking because you know, cardboard.... Broken sliding door fixed improperly, leaking water heater, damaged windows, extremely loud drawers when you open them, nothing is level in the apartment either. Hot tub has been broken for months and they state they were getting a new part months ago. Hot water heater is leaking and they haven't fixed it. Unable to paint a part of balcony that's unpainted 2x4's. Maintenance gets snippy with you In your own home and I was told my AC didn't work because my bathroom fan was on.... Just don't move here. Many resident friends of mine have expressed interest in moving elsewhere. read more

My opinion of management and employees of this apartment complex is horrible. RCMIs upper management doesn't respond to residents in regard to harassment by their employees. The 1st floor apartment have issues with water damage and had been told it had been fixed and was forced to move because floor was still damaged. They patch and temporarily fix and tenants are forced to pay more to move to a new apartment. Let the buyer beware. Also lots of fraternizing of management and tenants. Management also knows that this is going on during work hours. Horrible Work Ethics: Need more Diversity Classes!!! They are stealing from their own Company. Shame on them!!! read more

I have lived here a few months now and so far it has been a wonderful experience!! I leased a small apartment here on the Island to have a place to stay when I am working down here. I didn't have the highest hopes for what I was going to find in my budget in Galveston, but this place is amazing!! The management was very friendly and helpful. Krystal happily showed me almost almost every available unit and helped me decide on the right one. I love the pools and the lake is gorgeous! Apartments like these would lease for 5 times this price in any other major city. Beats my over priced Houston Bungalow all day long lol ;) read more

Beware Management Lies! While I lived there there were foundation issues with my apartment, electrical sockets did not work at all, cracks in my roof, cracks in my walls, lack of weather stripping at the bottom of my front doors, AC system would cut out on me because the condenser would freeze over, gnats everywhere, stupid huge speed bumps and the management is a joke (I will get to that later). During my year of solid and responsible tenancy, I paid my rent on time all the time, followed my lease to the letter and it was not until a couple weeks before I moved out that the BS started happening. The problems began because I had bought a new car due to my job, and I still had my old car. My brand new car had a parking tag in it as per the apartment rules, and so did my old car. Mind you I was 2 weeks out from moving out. I get a call one day while I was in another country for work saying my cars were parked too close to one another (wtf my personal vehicles can't be parked next to each other?) and was asked to move one across the complex to ease other tenants convenience. So I had to tell the office employee I was out of the country for work and they needed to wait until I get back to move my car. The manager then gets on the phone to inform me that she will have me towed if I do not move one of my cars by the end of the day. I repeat myself saying there is no possible way I can move the cars, as I am 6 THOUSAND miles away for work and will not be back until the end of the week. Then the manager says I am in violation of the lease because cars are required to move every 72 hours (my cars had been parked next to each other for 4 days at this point as I was out of the country). To make a long story short I had to get my parents to fly in from Virginia (as they had a spare car key for my old car), and move one of the cars so I would not get towed while in Europe for work. When I returned at the end of that week I overlooked the lease agreement again and had found out that the Manager had LIED about the "72 hour" rule as it was nowhere in the lease agreement and no official parking regulation amendments had been issued. I was so glad to move out at the end of that month. I read the entire lease, and just driving out with my Uhaul I saw 30 lease violations, but they go after me with some rule they made up because they weren't getting any more of my money. These apartments tried to screw us. We are active duty military and they gave us 0 respect. Shows a lot of a business how they treat their active duty military member residents. I LOVED living here! My husband and I ended up having to move out due to our family expanding and needing to move into a 2 bedroom apartment. Although lakeside does have 2 bedroom apartments however we felt they were too or of our budget. The only cons I'd say we ran into was the limited parking, and water bugs in the buildings. If you come home after 6pm (depending on what building you're in) there's literally no way you'll find a parking spot close to your apartment. Because you are on the water the chances of you seeing water bugs (roaches) in your apartment is a lot higher so beware of that. I'm pretty ocd when it comes to cleanliness so our sink never had food or dishes left overnight, trash was thrown out every night as well, and we never ate anywhere other than the kitchen and found that roaches were still unavoidable. The staff in the office is very friendly and helpful, and maintenance issues were fixed pretty quickly (we lived here for a year and probably had 1 maintenance issue the entire time). Overall we had a great time living here! read more

My daughters apartment, beautiful, spacious 2 bdrm, recently remodeled.The lake view from her patio is gorgeous. My daughter is very happy. I cant wait to come back!! We have lived here for a few months and can't wait til our lease is up. It's just not worth the money. Plus, you can never get a hold of anyone. We had a problem with our stove not working along with other small things that need fixed. The next day I come home to find that they had already been in our apartment without letting us know. That really freaked me out. Plus, it would have been nice if they would have called us first so they could have fixed everything else. Everyone I talk to that lives there hates it as well. Plus no one cleans up after their pets. That's not their fault I know and they have PLENTY of dog clean up stations that ALWAYS has bags in them. We have a hard time finding a parking space too. You can just tell that past tenants just trash the place, I wish they would invest some of that money back into the place. We moved here from out of state and I really wish we could have seen it before we moved, because the bathrooms are just nasty. It does have an amazing view so that makes up for some things, but not all. They say that you have a gym membership included in the rent, not really the case. They have 10 passes for everyone there, my guess is about 1000 tenants and then you have to go to the office, sign it out, and then bring it back, but they are NEVER open!!! I also had some issues with not getting all my mail. I stopped in the office to pick up a package and they gave me another package that has been there for MONTHS without a call or notice. Not to mention the package EASILY fits in out mail box. If you have a problem don't go to the young guy that works there, he is usless and is always on Facebook. I lived here for a few months and it was a great experience. The office managers were always very friendly and helpful. When I moved out due to a divorce they were completely understanding and were able to help remove my name from the lease without a problem The maintanance men are hard to understand but they always did a great job. This is one of the only complexes on Galveston island that allow large breed dogs and they also have very reasonable deposit amounts. The grounds are well kept and the apartments were clean (basic appliances) and every unit had W/D connections. . I do wish they had more "dog disposal" trash cans and bags but other than that it was a pleasant move in/out experience. read more

I pay $680/month + utilities for my first floor 1bd/1ba apartment. I have one of the smaller floor plans and it's perfect for a single person or a couple with no children. Pros: Low cost for a very well-kept, "cute" and peaceful neighborhood. W/D hookups in each unit. Pets allowed and embraced, plenty of space to walk your dog with doggy-trash bins all over. Lovely clean pools. Quiet neighbors, sometimes forget I'm in an apartment. Hardwood floors throughout. Reliable management and maintenance. Spacious patios. The lake is beautiful! Cons: The bedroom is just the sliiiightest bit too small, we have a queen bed but if we had a king it would be cramped. The kitchen lacks counter space and cabinet storage. Parking is sometimes ridiculous. The complex itself is kind of a pain in the ass to get to if you're coming from Seawall. I've noticed some "characters" out and about, within the past couple months I've seen at least 3 police units with lights flashing on the property, people arguing outside, etc. but I never felt threatened or in danger. This is Galveston after all. Overall, I'd say if you're looking for a decent place to live at a great price, move here. I'm going to renew my lease, I'm happy, I always feel safe and comfortable. Management knows me & my S.O. by name and is always accommodating. 3 stars only because I hate the parking and the inconvenience of driving all the way out here. read more

I absolutely love living here at Lakeside! The management, staff, & maintenance personnel are always friendly. We have dogs and they love all of the green space available here at the complex. The views of the lake are spectacular, although it does attract mosquitoes. It's Texas though, what do you expect? Our 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment is spacious and fairly open concept, which we love! We do not have a balcony, but we have a sun room & that is my favorite room in the house. We had neighbors that had 2 babies and we hardly ever heard them. I'm not sure if it's because they have soundproofed between apartments or what, but I am thrilled to have not been woken up in the middle of the night by them. The only major drawback about this complex is up there's constant construction. Although this is great for people coming & looking at the apartments because they can say they've updated a lot of the complex, it's not so great when you're trying to sleep at 8:00 a.m.. I work nights so waking up early to people hammering roofs or what not is not the most ideal thing. But over all this is a fantastic complex to live in and we have loved our stay here! read more

These apartments are terrible inside and out. I was forced to sleep in a hotel the night I was supposed to move in because they weren't done with "renovations."(The apartment literally didn't have a kitchen sink). After that day I moved into the roach infested apartment in which they forgot to exterminate. Then when it was actually time to exterminate they couldn't because the staff forgot to make a copy of the key(just the beginning of their consistent incompetence). After a month of no sleep because bugs crawling on the ceiling, there became a constant problem with aggressive stray cats that lounged in front of my door. These cats would lunge at you if you attempted to scare them away. Yet, this staff did nothing because "there's an ordinance that says they don't have to remove them." Now that my nightmare of a stay is over there, I'm being charged for "apartment clean up," despite the fact that the apartment was literally in better shape when I moved out. These apartments are terrible, and highly over priced. Do not waste your time, energy, or money! read more

This apartment complex has great potential but unfortunately the staff brings the entire place down. Maintenance requests are a joke. They do come out and fix some things but you have to follow up constantly to get everything fixed. Not just small things, I'm talking about a leaking roof, my balcony falling apart, really really old appliances that sometimes work and sometimes don't. We have numerous electrical outlets that are old and the plugs do not stay in, the sinks and tubs are all cheaply refinished and they peel after just a year. When I asked about this I was told it was because we live so close to the water. Well, maybe you shouldn't put a cheap refinishing coating on them? My front door is rusting through on the bottom and I've been trying to get it replaced for a while now with no luck although it is a safety concern. I would never ever recommend this place to anyone. The staff is incompetent and they do not follow though with what they say they will do. Please, just look at other reviews before you rent here. read more
