My daughter has been attending Broadway Arts Studio for about six years. She started training there with very little vocal and dance experience. In that time, she has completely transformed from someone who came here to explore the arts and have fun, to someone who prides herself on wanting to be a performer full time and I could not ask for a better home or team for her to develop that passion. I say home specifically because that's how much she loves this place. If she could, she would spend every waking moment at Broadway Arts and that's a testament to Darcie, Troy, and the entire staff. The level of trust, warmth, dedication, professionalism, acceptance, fun and passion living in that building goes beyond words and saying I'm grateful wouldn't begin to describe it. My daughter has been in classes, MTC, BDC, summer camps, showcases, musicals; she's been cast in ensembles, bit parts, and leads; she's created best friends, danced in competitions, sung on her own, and formed memories that will last a life time all because of Broadway Arts Studio. My 10 year old daughter asked to be signed up for an experience of acting in a play, so we chose the Broadway Arts Studio for a two week camp with the play, The Descendants. A couple of days before starting she was sent a script to practice for the audition, which she did. It turns out she was never asked to audition, instead she was give a minor, brief dance role for the play. Needless to say, she was disappointed, and I felt somewhat deceived having paid nearly $1000 for this two week training. It certainly appeared to us that they signed up way too many kids for number of parts available in this play. So in summary, I don't feel this was a good use of our time and money and I would not recommend this business. read more

My 11 year old daughter has been begging to do musical theater, so we signed her up for the 2 week descendants camp this summer. Right away, we made sure she understood that having no formal training in singing or acting, she was likely to be in the ensemble, and that this would be a fun experience where she could be part of a show and learn from her peers and teachers. She got a small speaking role and was in the ensemble for part of the time, which was great, and she came home from camp every day so happy. The performances were excellent. The kids clearly put in a lot of work to learn an entire show in just 2 weeks. Were there some mistakes? Of course! But we had a great experience. I came to this non profit performing arts studio to watch a kids' musical. The daughter of a close friend was performing and I felt obligated. As an audience member I initially thought my rating would be lower due to a number of factors. I mean, it was a kids' (age 4-12) 40 minute musical, many of whom had never performed before. The seating was not sloped for optimal viewing plus the janky sound system made for poor audio and was made worse because all the kids were masked. But I quickly realized this was not about how good the actual performance was; it was not about the audience experience. It was about the development of the children. These kids developed their talent, yes, but also developed confidence, discipline, courage, responsibility, and positive values. They also learned teamwork and communication skills. I was there to view the culmination of their growth, the overcoming of fears, and the joy of performing in front of adults. This rating is for what this studio gives to the kids who come here. The production itself wasn't the point. Despite its faults it was fun to watch even though I wasn't a parent. I applauded vigorously at the conclusion for these children who had put weeks of hard work into bettering themselves and obviously had a lot of fun in the process. read more

I was a little disappointed with the summer camp at Broadway Arts Studio. First, the interface to sign up for classes was a little confusing. I had a hard time figuring out what camps were appropriate for my kids and had to go back and forth texting the studio. They were happy to help. When I signed them up, nowhere did it say in the parent portal that the performance would be on Sat. (Some camps perform on Fridays.) After I signed up my kids and paid the fee, I got an email about the performance in the middle of the week and had to cancel plans I had made beforehand. Also, I wish there was a description on the website as to how the summer camps are run. The musical camps are not your typical musicals that you would expect. My kids were in the musical Annie. It wasn't a traditional "Annie" musical like we were expecting. I wish I would of known that it was an adaptation. No one had speaking lines and the kids just sang songs from the musical with some dance moves. Also, I felt like this place was way too expensive. I did NOT get a sibling discount. I paid $700 for my 2 kids to go for only 3 hours a day. In addition, when you go to the performance, you have to pay $15 per ticket just to be there. Talk about price gauging! Also, be prepared because during the performance, there are no costumes, which my kids were very disappointed about. They got free tee shirts that they wore during the performance, that will go straight to my Goodwill bag. Also, you need to watch a full hour of other students' performances. You'll only watch your own kids perform for 15 minutes. My kids said they did have fun, but we won't be back. There are better camps. read more

Even though I probably drive past over 10 dance/music studios just to arrive here, attending Broadway Art Studio is worth the 35 minute drive, way out of my way, because I honestly think it is the best studio for my kids and our needs. I found BAS during the pandemic when they were offering online classes and some kids at my daughter's school actually did a Zoom talent show hip hop performance and I saw they were wearing Broadway Art Studio t-shirts. We signed up for a ballet class online only with Ms. McKenzie and my daughters loved it so much that once things got back into person, I just decided to make the drive for me and keep having my girls attend BAS so that they could keep doing ballet with Ms. Mackenzie because she is such a wonderful fun teacher and my girls truly enjoy it! My kids go to a really academically intense trilingual school so it's important for me that they have fun doing their extra curricular activities and don't feel tons of pressure - just fun- and BAS totally fits that - it's fun but they learn great technique too and also have the opportunity for multiple recitals/shows! We do a bunch of activities and whenever anyone asks my daughters what is their favorite activity they both say ballet! We started off doing Pre-Ballet with Ms. Mackenzie and now my daughters are in Ballet 1. In Ballet 1 they get to use the bar now a lot more and do more advanced things - however the big fun factor is still there. I also like how Ms. Mackenzie gives the kids a little time during class for their own creativity to do something of their choice so they get creative input too. The other kids in the class are lovely - everyone always wears their mask (the policy here at Broadway Art Studio is that everyone - adults and kids - wear a mask even if vaccinated - and hence we always feel very safe here and the other parents are nice conscientious people so I don't worry about germs like I did at other studios we've been to). Most of the students take multiple classes because BAS offers so many fun classes. My girls also love the Broadway Playhouse class which is musical theater and they also offer all of the different types of dance. My daughters also take private singing lessons with Ms. Darcie and I was so lucky to be able to get them signed up with her because she has the most incredible voice and is such a wonderful, patient teacher! The owners of the studio: Darcie & Troy are the nicest people and they are both super talented with experience dancing and singing professionally in many acclaimed venues - even on Broadway (hence the name of the studio)! Overall, my family loves Broadway Art Studio and it is totally worth the long drive to go here because my kids and I love it so much! read more

Broadway Arts is a very special, warm place. Upon your first visit, the owners welcome you with open arms. I was looking for dance and acting/speaking classes for my 9 and 7 year old. I am a single mom and wanted a one shop shop, so that I didn't have to drive all over town on every day of the week. A friends' 4 year old recently spoke so confidently before a group. Her parents told me that she was attending Broadway Arts. When I saw the list of classes, I was hopeful. There are a variety of classes, offered on different days and times; so there something for every child and every schedule. The opportunity for my kids to take acting (which builds their self-confidence), ballet and tap, under one roof is priceless. My kids participated in their first recital in Dec. This was no mom and pop show. This is a professional production. I was thrilled that my kids were given this opportunity! It was incredible to see the range of talent. We saw kids, just being kids and forgetting a line, as well as amazing, singing, dancing and performances. Even though there were lots of youth, acts, costumes, etc.; everyone was kind and patient. That is a feeling that is generated from and radiates from the top. This is a nurturing place that genuinely cares of the kids. Everyone is treated kindly and with respect. Over the summer we signed her up for several musical theater camps and she not only had the best time, she really blossomed. The teachers are so caring and everyone is so positive. I was so excited to see that a studio opened nearby that specializes in the performing arts. My daughters love to perform and their Moana Jr. musical was the perfect opportunity for them to sing, dance and have fun! I was so impressed at how much they learned - the songs were all intricately choreographed and even had amazing harmony ! The resulting video was awesome and so fun to watch!
