My child has been taking classes here for several years now, and we have yet to have a bad experience. All of the teachers focus on technique, and advancing the kids forward in their chosen style dance. Through COVID, they have maintained Zoom classes and in-person classes have enforced social distancing throughout the studio. The office staff communicate well, and respond quickly to any concerns a family might have that needs to be addressed. Amazing, amazing school!!! Today they did something special for our class before Christmas break... they had the sugar plum fairy come at the end of class (3 year old class) and she danced for us and it was amazing! I have never seen a ballerina so close. They also let the little kids see her pointe slippers and touch them and learn about them. It was so wonderful. The teacher is especially good with the little kids and keeping them focused. I am so impressed. I was looking for a class that was not princesses and twirling ribbons... and this is it- a true ballet and tap class! Thank you! read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about this school. Both of my daughters go here (one of them since she was 4 and the other started at 8). All of the instructors are so talented and amazing with the kids. I will give a kudos to Ms. Jane, who has made the classes so fun and engaging and making my kids wanting to progress more and more every year. I came here after a one season round at another local studio where the instructor was looking more at her phone than the students and the competition vibe was not what we wanted. This studio took away the dance teams and competition track which has made learning here so stress free and the girls have developed some really wonderful friendships. If the girls want to compete and move forward in their dance future, they are encouraged and given help in many ways. The special 'events' provided by the Friends of the Conservancy is also top notch from the Pilates in the park to the nutrition classes which are free for all the students to participate in. We also love the partnership with the Pacific Theatre Ballet which gives all the students (at a certain level) a chance to perform in an amazing Nutcracker show as well. And it's not just ballet that is top notch. The tap, hip hop, lyrical/modern and jazz classes are also fantastic. My family and friends love watching the end of the year performances because of the quality of acts they get to see! It's very hard to write this review as I am pretty conflicted what to make of the events of today. I left this studio today quite sad for my daughter. I really liked a lot of things about this studio. It seems to offer great training and I was really impressed with the facilities. Unfortunately we were suggested to leave by Miss Jane. After spending just two hours with my four year old, I was told she was disruptive and that I could think about putting her in the class for 2-3 year olds or "maybe find another teacher". I think that's a gentle way of telling us we were fired. I'm not sure what is expected of preschoolers that are in a brand new environment. She came out once to get water and returned immediately, and then didn't want to hold hands at the end for the bow so she was asked to leave the class. There were no tears or tantrums or major events that I saw. I understand that ballet is a strict discipline--I danced for years. But really, my daughter is just about to turn four. She didn't throw anything or hit anyone or have a tantrum. I guess I expected a teacher of preschoolers to have more patience with young children as I have seen exhibited by our gymnastics coach and swim coach. Or maybe give us more than two classes to get used to the new environment. Maybe we just weren't a good fit for this studio. read more

This is a great school! My daughter takes ballet here and so far the staff has been very helpful and polite. The yearly recital was so much fun to attend and I was so impressed by how organized and professional the staff was before, during and after the event! Miss Sharon is a great teacher! My 3 1/2 daughter has attended since the fall. Her teacher is very sweet and patient which her students. She uses many props to help her teach class, including dolls during ballet dance which is the sweetest thing you will ever see. They put on a VERY nice yearend recital. This is my daughter's 10th year dancing with PBC. We are so grateful for all the teachers and staff who have taught, guided, encouraged and inspired my girl as she works toward her dream of becoming a professional ballerina. My daughter dances 6 days a week and the studio is her second home. The studio environment is safe and welcoming (for both student and parent!) and I feel comfortable voicing any questions or concerns. But most important, the training the students receive from the teachers at PBC is top notch! The teachers bring their expertise and love of dance to every class. My daughter, along with many other students at this school, have been accepted to many prestigious, professional summer ballet company intensives. (ie. Pacific Northwest Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Boston Ballet, School of American Ballet, ABT and Houston Ballet). My daughter has been dancing at PBC for almost 14 years. Her many years of training and all the wonderful teachers have truly made a huge impact on who she is today. I could never thank Maryann Bayless and the staff enough for the ballet training she has received. Perhaps even more important are the "life skills" she will take with her as she graduates from high school in June. We love this ballet school! My daughter has been dancing here for 7 years, since she was 3 years old. We started with one class a week and have worked up to 10 classes now. She loves all of the teachers and the variety of classes that are available to her. They have 4 nice-sized classrooms, healthy snacks, drinking fountain, and bathrooms. We tried two other studios before deciding on this one. My main reason for picking PBC was the inviting lobby where there are plenty of chairs in front of the classroom windows to watch your child. I didn't want to miss out on seeing my daughter trying something new. She immediately connected with her first teacher and has enjoyed every one she's had since. Also, the big show they have in June is amazingly well done. I was totally blown away the first year I saw it. I definitely recommend giving this school a try. read more

I started when I was 14, a little late, but this conservatory really helped me gain confidence in my dancing & taught me so much. Every teacher is there to support you and teach you something new. The staff there have performed with Juilliard, Disneyland, Russian ballets and many other places. Undoubtably the best decision I have made was attending this amazing & family-like conservatory.
