Loved the play and the facility. Biggest complaint is having to use Ticketmaster to purchase tickets. Ticketmaster made me reset my password numerous times, rejected brand new unique passwords as compromised. Had to call customer support to finally be able to proceed to purchase tickets, risking the seats I wanted being sold in the meantime. After literally hours spent to purchase my tickets, they cannot be printed but I am forced to install their app, which of course, in line at the theatre, wanted me to reset my password. Ticketmaster absolutely detracts from the whole experience. read more

Sharing a letter that I wrote to Broadway in Chicago and the Cadillac Theatre for which I never received a response: I am writing to share a concern regarding audience management during performances at your theatre (Cadillac). I attended The Phantom of the Opera last night and unfortunately, the experience was significantly disrupted by a visibly intoxicated family seated nearby. They spoke throughout the performance and, most notably, sang very loudly during the final song--directly over the performer during what is meant to be a pinnacle and emotionally powerful moment of the production. This behavior was disruptive and diminished the experience for many audience members in the surrounding area. This was not an isolated incident. Last year, while attending Moulin Rouge at your theatre, I experienced a similar situation involving two belligerent and intoxicated audience members who talked, sang, danced, and cried audibly through much of Act I and part of Act II before finally being escorted out. I paid $250 for my ticket last night to see one of my favorite musicals, and it is deeply disappointing to have that experience compromised by behavior that should be unacceptable in a professional theatre setting. Audience etiquette is essential to preserving the integrity of live performance, and more proactive intervention would go a long way in protecting both patrons and performers. I want to emphasize that the theatre itself is beautiful, and the productions you host are outstanding. It is precisely because of the quality of your programming that I feel compelled to raise this concern. I strongly encourage you to consider stronger audience management practices to ensure that future performances can be enjoyed as intended. read more

Joined Broadway in Chicago subscription plan in 2021. I have signed up for three different seasons. The plan is not required to attend shows but does offer a very good discount and ensures that you will get a seat at each of the 6 performances playing that season. For instance, I wanted to see Tina and MJ. I knew those could be hard to get, so I paid for the plan. Each ticket came via Ticketmaster and the plan allows you to change dates. Broadway in Chicago does a great job of brining diverse plays, musicals and dance performances to Chicago. I truly enjoy supporting the arts and visiting different theaters. Chicago is home to some of the oldest auditoriums and it very neat to visit all of the different venues. Many of the performances are Pre-Broadway so the talent is amazing. Tip: Join their social media page and every 25th of the month they have discount tickets. This is a good option if trying to be economical but also want to catch a last minute show. read more

I rarely write bad reviews but I have never witnessed such incompetence as what was happening at the Nederlander. So people show their ID and vaccine cards and go in and make it over to the will-call area if they need to. Do yourself a favor and just go in the door to the West of all the other doors. There were 3 windows and no lines. It was just a cluster of people trying to tell other people that the line starts in the middle and spirals out like a conch shell. Yes, I kid you not. That is not possible for obvious reasons. What kind of incompetent people are running things?? Common sense would look something like one line for each window meeting a line that goes out the door next to the will-call area. Rub a couple brain cells together people. So it was just a lot of angry people. There was also no real spiral anyway, not surprisingly, so people were probably just cutting in everywhere. It is unfortunate when a company like this takes over managing multiple theaters downtown because then you have to deal with their idiocy repeatedly. If you need to pick up your ticket, do it hours before the show because it is so not worth the hot mess that it turns into right before start time. Also, once you get your ticket you need to go back outside and wait in line again to show your ID and vaccine card that you already showed someone. Security is also a waste of time and money because all they do is shine a light in your purse. So you can keep whatever you want in your pockets, jacket, and zippered compartments in purses and no one cares. It makes no sense. I also already discussed with someone in management at the theater about how some of their shows do not show a will-call option. You cannot force people to use mobile tickets only, as many may not have the type of device they would need for it. It is the job of a box office to make sure you can get the ticket you paid for. It is a discriminatory policy that keeps out older and low-income people who lack access. It also holds up the line when people cannot access their mobile tickets and the box office unexpectedly has to print them out. Their written policy that says they will not print your tickets also contradicts the Ticketmaster policy saying that all box offices will and the correspondence with their customer service agents about the whole issue. They need to get together and figure out what their actual policies are because what is in writing is what matters. I've never had any issue dealing with obtaining tickets via Broadway in Chicago. Best advice - make sure you have a flak jacket and medical insurance when going into the Loop to see a Broadway in Chicago performance. In addition to ticket prices, paying over $30 an hour for parking, worrying about getting carjacked on the way to from a theater, you have to worry about getting shot in the loop and having a performance mysteriously canceled because of a so-called "disturbance" This is what happened when we went to see Moulin Rouge and two theater employees were shot at the theater & the performance cancelled. Lots of great entertainment at the theaters in the loop however we won't be back until it becomes safer. Businesses need to step up and pressure the mayor & the state's attorney who obviously is not doing her job keeping the people they serve safe. After years of cubs games, bulls games, and wildcats games I decided to purchase seasons tickets that both my husband and I would enjoy. That's right...season tickets to Broadway in Chicago! Ok, well i'm enjoying it more than he is, but he owes me after all those Bulls games! I'm not sure how it took 10 years of me living in Chicago to discover this! They make it super easy! You just choose the area of the theater you'd like to sit in. My husband I paid approximately $350 (total) and that was for 2 tickets to 5 different shows. Not bad considering we paid about that for just 2 tickets for Jersey Boys the year before. Some of the shows are better than others (Avenue Q- yay, Sweeney Todd- nay), but you can sell your tickets for the shows you don't want to attend...and perhaps even break even. And the lineup for the upcoming season is uhmazing. While a Bronx Tale and Xanadu doesn't do much to excite me (hello StubHub) I can't wait for Chorus Line, Grease, and Mary Poppins! read more

Okay so... Broadway in Chicago isn't perfect. They have plenty of things they could improve. Their entire online booking system is through Ticketmaster which goes down constantly and often doesn't let you search by seat map. Having to pay the TM fees annoys me so I try and buy my tickets in person at any of the box offices. And some of the employees are pretty curt and unwilling to help, although I have met plenty of nice ones too. It really just depends on the day I guess. But, in spite of my complaints, how lucky are we as a city to have so many incredible shows pass through? I mean, we were the second place in the ENTIRE world to have Hamilton. And the quality of productions is top notch! Even the shows I haven't cared for have still impressed me. My favorite theater is definitely the Oriental-- there really are no bad seats. The CIBC can be tricky so do your research before making a purchase that way you don't wind up sitting behind a pole or something. I have been a Broadway in Chicago subscriber since Winter 2016 I and have been thrilled with both the overall price and the customer service in the subscriptions department. The subscriptions department is consistently very helpful and courteous whether it's via phone call or email. I have to rank them 5 stars because I feel so lucky to have a Broadway program so strong in my city. It's not perfect but NYC isn't perfect, the West End isn't perfect. This is not about your shows. I love them. I completely and wholeheartedly agree with the poster who commented about ticketing on mobile phones. I use a laptop for virtually everything. DO NOT tell me to transfer the ticket to a mobile phone! Are you not at all aware that many seniors and low-income residents do not own a smartphone? The good shows are great, but for my interests there aren't that many cutting-edge shows: definitely geared to the popular type of shows and cash-cows with flash. I try to see most shows once, and there is a nice rotating flow of shows, however only a third of them are things are ones I want to see. Therefore I can't bring myself to get a season ticket, I just do a la carte. The involved theaters are generally good, the best shows you have to buy 1-1.5 years in advance unless you want to fork out way more than it is worth. Ticketmaster is a ripoff, you end up paying way more than you expected by the time you check out, but the good shows are worth it. read more

The customer service is unbelievable. I don't think I can recall ever being treated with such disregard. I never really write reviews on purchases.. Or for services. I feel compelled to do so in this instance as the customer service Department of Broadway in Chicago was... And is entirely frustrating. In 2013 I purchased tickets for the play, Book of Mormon. When I arrived with my friend, I found that they had placed us in a wheelchair accessible section, meaning there were no seats for us to actually sit down on. Two women who are across the aisle from us had the same issue. They must have complained better because they actually had theater seating brought in prior to the start of the show. As for me and my friend. We were simply given kitchen chairs to sit on. I accepted the chairs as there was nothing else to do. I purchased these tickets for my friends 50th birthday. They were premium seats, at a very premium price. As we were given the kitchen chairs to sit on, the woman who provided them said that she would have the situation rectified at the intermission. That was the last we saw her. Following the play, I spoke with staff there, and provided them with my phone number as well as an explanation of my complaint. It was incredible that we were not even given an apology. Their customer service department of Broadway in Chicago never called me nor contacted me to apologize. Yet for the last two years they have sent emails offering me tickets to shows that I have no interest in as if this would somehow resolve my complaint. I made it clear several times that I only wanted replacement tickets to the show I had paid for. I will never again purchase tickets to see a play through Broadway in Chicago. It's crazy how after 2 years this situation still astounds me. I finally decided to write a review after so long as Yelp has been very helpful at guiding me in making purchases as well as warning me away from places that have very poor customer service . I absolutely love Broadway In Chicago. I am a season ticket holder. I frequently have to buy tickets to shows outside of the season, which tend to be better than the selection of shows in the season. It's frustrating but not a huge concern. However it seems like the last few shows I've seen I have had to struggle to hear them. Mind you I have no problems with my hearing. I tend to get front balcony seats and spend a bit of money on tickets, why can't the performers mics be turned up? I saw Evan Hansen, wicked and Chicago and struggled to hear them. Don't even get me started on Devil Wears Prada. While everyone else was complaining about the show most of us on the balcony had to struggle to hear what was going on. My next show is Les Miz in a couple of weeks. The greatest part of that show is the music. I sure hope I hear and feel it in my core. Bad experience at the Cadillac Palace theater on 10.29.2019. First night of the John Leguizamo show. There were technical difficulties about 15 minutes into the show with sound cues. Hey, it's live theater--this happens. Mr Leguizamo seemed frustrated with the people running the sound booth. He was gracious and funny about it. But that's not where the problem lies. The men working the sound booth carried on a normal conversation for the duration of the show. We patrons sitting near the booth complained to the ushers and house manager (Miquela). They were unable or unwilling to have the techs quiet the conversation. Unacceptable for the sound board men to loudly talk during the show, and unacceptable that their inconsideration ruined what seemed a good show. I left after an hour. read more

Went to the ofc for subscription. Receptionist was pleasant and had us wait until the next available subscription staff was available. Less than a 5 minute wait. Bethany greeted us and asked what we wanted for show dates and time. She came back is less than 5 minutes and told us what was available and the pricing. Really terrible customer service. Wanted to switch my tickets to an early show on the SAME day, didn't care if my seats were worse than the ones I paid for. They didn't care at all and immediately said you have to be a subscriber to get any of those benefits. Clearly on their website there are a ton of seats open for the earlier show so it's really just because they don't go out of their way for customer service that they don't allow people to exchange their tickets. I'm a big fan of the performing arts. I consider attending musicals as a hobby, but this hobby can be quite expensive!! Thats when I decided to become a season subscriber so that I can continue collecting my Playbills while enjoying my musicals and paying much less than what it would have cost me to buy all the tickets separately. Broadway in Chicago makes it super easy as well. You simply choose the theater area that you would like to sit in and choose the dates and times you'd prefer to attend the shows. The cost for the shows includes taxes and all processing fees. If you'd like to sit with friends who are always purchasing a subscription, you can tell Broadway in Chicago your friend's name and/or their subscription number and they will try to seat you together or within close proximity of each other. If you can't make your scheduled show, you just call their customer service number, tell them your subscriber number and the date you'd like to attend. They will reschedule you and mail you out your tickets for the newly rescheduled show. Super easy! Sometimes the cost of the show may cost more depending on what particular day/night you reschedule, but I still think it is worth it. Its definitely better than losing the money you already invested into the ticket! I've had to reschedule my tickets a few times and they mailed my ticket with the new dates. I received the new ticket within 3-5 days. If you have special accommodations or disabilities, Broadway in Chicago will try their best to accommodate you. Sometimes they have previews of shows that you get invited to and its free! I attended a preview for Shrek and it included a free tote bag, cookies, and a sneak peak of the show. I loved it! I'm a big deal seeker so I've scouted for tickets at Hot Tix, Goldstar, and Travelzoo to check out tickets available for shows that have not sold out. Sometimes the deal is better, but beware of all the taxes, processing fees and handing fees. Travelzoo recently offered a $36 orchestra seat deal, but after all the fees, the cost ended up being $54!!! Ticketmaster is such a rip off! I definitely recommend becoming a subscriber if you are a musical lover like me! read more

There's nothing that makes me happier at work than putting my earphones in and listening to musicals. When I lived in Texas it was a rareity that anything decent came along. It was all of the tame shows and aimed at older crowds. Here Broadway in Chicago does it right with a great choice of shows! So far I've had the pleasure of seeing Wicked, Phantom of the Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar (with the original Jesus himself, Ted Neely!), Spamalot, and a few others. They're bringing in the Rent tour with the original cast members which I've had tickets to since November. One thing that makes living in the city that much better is that you can go to any BIC theater and buy tickets. NO CHARGES! That's right. Stick it to Ticketmaster and take the train over and buy them right at the box office. This is also better because you can talk to someone who actually knows the theater and can make sure you get the best seats for your money. With Ticketmaster, you just get the draft choices. I learned also that you can buy tickets for any BIC show at any theater! So for Jersey Boys you can get to the Cadillac Theater and buy them if it's closest to you! They bring a great assortment to Chicago for all ages. I mean this season we're going to be going through Mary Poppins to Adams Family Musical (with Nathan Lane?) and then on to Spring Awakening. There's always something for everyone. The theater choices here sealed the deal when I moved to Chicago that this is where I need to be! Can't wait to see the line up for next season1 read more

They didnot inform this when i purchase tickets for this season'Charlie brown Christmas show. I am still looking forward to seeing the show in few weeks...but the level of customer service for exchanging dates or cancelling is really really below average... Broadway in Chicago is extremely difficult to work with for large groups. They only accept checks, and you have a limited amount of time to produce the check, which is usually eaten up while you're waiting for your contract to arrive in the mail. I now have a staff member hand-deliver the check because I've repeatedly had checks "lost in the mail" and tickets canceled because they never received my check. The shows are always great, but it's pretty clear that groups are a hassle for them to deal with and they'd rather not deal with it. read more

I know that the Adams Family has received some less than stellar reviews but I think that a lot of the kinks have been worked out. Yes there are a lot of solos throughout the show but it was really rather charming as a whole. Nathan Lane was well... Nathan freaking Lane. He was fabulous. And he plays a horn dog oh so well. Muah Muah Muah Muah! He gave a great performance and didn't disappoint. Bebe was okay. I agree that she doesn't really have to opportunity to really shine but damn does the woman look good. Not everybody could get away wearing a neckline like hers. All an all, it may not be the best musical I have ever seen, but it was still very charming. I recommend it to just about anyone. read more

I'll start by saying I'm not a musical fan & belong to American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco because I prefer my theater experience without singing & dancing. That being said, I really enjoyed A Chorus Line and easily see the appeal. I went with friends who already had tix, so I bought one 10 minutes b4 the show. The advantage of buying a single ticket is that I was sold a fabulous seat 7 rows back on the aisle. No weirdness at all sitting by myself...in fact the woman next to me was obviously not with those on the other side of her. I didn't always think the singers were on key, though I'm no voice aficionado, but the dancing and sheer physicality of dancing 2 hrs straight was impressive. A plus before/after the show is the lovely Ford theater. I just sat there with my head back staring at the gilded ceiling. read more

We haven't gone to the show yet, but this organization gets 5 stars from me for Customer Service already. My father is in remission from prostate cancer and because of the treatment he did he can't hold his bladder longer than 30 minutes. He has to have an aisle seat to be able to get to the bathroom. To make matters worse he has Distonia in his neck so he can turn his neck to the right easily, but not to the left at least not for a long period of time. Broadway in Chicago has a Special Needs line - 312-977-1700 x 5. I left a voicemail last night and 20 minutes after they opened this morning at 10 am, I got a call from a wonderful person named Nancy. She was not only personable, but very understanding. She got us set up in a location that accomodated my dad's needs, I was able to buy the tickets over the phone, and she's mailing them to me. Huge relief as I would have spent the night worrying about my dad the entire show or we just would not have gone. read more

Anything Goes is a revival of the 1934 Cole Porter musical. It is a first-rate production with a professional cast playing at the beautiful Cadillac Palace theater. The singing, dancing, and acting were very entertaining. The story line and the songs, which were evocative of simpler times, were thoroughly enjoyable, and the scenes that included the songs "Anything Goes" and "Blow, Gabriel, Blow" were sensational. Overall, it was well paced, however, a couple of parts seemed to drag on a bit. Anything Goes was a lot of fun and the cost was reasonable. If you like this type of music, you will definitely like this show. I highly recommend it and give it a rating of a solid four and one half stars. read more

This is a review for the Broadway in Chicago Suite Service in case anyone is interested in what to expect. It's not really worth the upcharged price of a ticket. My cousin and I were seeing Rent and wanted good seats, but the only ones left on orchestra level were ones where you also had to buy the suite service with them. So we thought ok, why not. The suite is located in the lower lobby and is a simple room with couches and a bar. They offer light hors d'oeuvres before the show - mini ham/cheese or grilled chicken sliders plus vegetable skewers for a vegetarian option (?). They were just okay, nothing too special. The open bar is probably the best part about the deal. But our bartender thought we didn't realize the cup out on the bar with five dollar bills in it was a tip cup. She pointed and said, and this is for tips. At intermission, we came back to the suite to pick up our jackets and grab another drink. They have out a plate of cookies that were not great either. At the bar, the bartender made it clear again that the tip cup was out and said, they need to teach you how to tip better. I was very taken aback by this and not sure how to respond. So while having an open bar and place to store your coat during the show is nice, the off-putting customer service and store bought food platters don't enhance your show experience too much. **EDIT** I got in touch with customer service and they let me know they resolved the issue on their end. The representative I spoke to explained this particular bartender was an anomaly for them and not how they train their staff. I appreciated their reaching out and the person I spoke to was very friendly and professional. read more

The producers have subscribed to a mis-placed delusional belief in a certain formula completely disregarding the need for a compelling plot, original tunes/style and well-cast talent (Lithith from Fraiser is no Morticia by any stretch). I enjoyed The Addams Family musical. I do believe that it will be successful in New York because it is entertaining. I went to see The Addams Family, but was sad to see that Nathan Lane did not perform in the performance I saw. However, Merwin Foard who presumably is the understudy did a fabulous job and -- except for missing the opportunity to see Nathan Lane who I greatly admire -- the cast and the show were very enjoyable to watch. Please understand that theatre is a matter of personal taste and some will like some shows and others will not. What they seem to have done in The Addams Family is produce what I think is a reasonably enjoyable play that allows its actors to shine. While I will admit the plot is somewhat thin, I will also say that this is not South Pacific or Showboat. This is light entertainment and it is very entertaining to me. The cast is tremendous -- every one of them -- and you can see them giving it their all on the stage. The theatre is a treasure that would not be possible to build today. I understand the show is here in Chicago until January 10, at which time it goes to New York. If you can still catch it in Chicago, it is fun and worthwhile. The staging is just fantastic. I regret missing Nathan Lane, but I certainly am glad to have seen the show and I believe it will be well received in New York simply because it is entertaining and that does sell these days. read more

Nathan Lane was fantastic (as he always is) as was the rest of the cast. Morticia's part does not take advantage of Bebe Neuwirth's immense talent although she looks the part perfectly! Overall the story and play is just OK. There isn't anything memoriable. I left scratching my head saying what were they thinking?. The story lacks adequate flow to keep my interest. It seems to jump from 1 character's solo to the next character to the next character. It was closer to a random set of songs. Some of the songs have individual entertainment value, but put together it doesn't make a good story. Additionally, all the quirky parts of the Addams family are forced (the snaps, kissing up the arm, sword fight, Thing and It.) Feeding the wild plant was the best integration because it flowed naturally, the rest seem like afterthoughts that they needed to squeeze in. I don't want to complain too much becuase the talent on the stage is amazing, but the story needs to be heavily edited if not rewritten. This show could be very good . Not every character needs to be spotlighted, they could cut many of the solo's (including Morticia's and Alice's). They could also tighten the story line. They can keep the zaney-ness like Fester and Lucas' story line (althought I wonder about Lucas' story line), but these themes might work if they tighten everything else. The producers are trying to do too much. The story line is simple so keep the show simple and amazingly entertaining through good music and performances. Don't force it through zaneyness that is contrived and forced. It's in preview so this is the time to rework. I am looking forward to seeing it on broadway as a new show....I hope they keep working on this, as they almost have a really good show. I have typically had good experiences with Broadway in Chicago. The venues for all the shows are beautiful, so classic and elegant. Chicago has a great history of theater and it really shows in these structures. There are historical tours available on Saturdays usually around 10 am if memory serves correctly, and I think that would be a really great experience even for locals. Pricing can be a bit expensive, especially if you are looking to bring your family, and some of the theaters' balconies are A LOT higher than you would think, but bring some theater glasses and you will be just fine. If you are a student, most shows do student rush prices and those are AWESOME. I paid $25 to see Phantom of the Opera three years ago and sat in the orchestra seating. Some shows are harder to get rush tickets for than others, but call the box office a few days in advance and they'll let you know the procedure and the best way to secure tickets. I decided to rate Broadway in Chicago a 3/5 only because I wish there was more variety to what was coming to town, but that's personal preference. If you're looking to catch a decent Broadway show, you'll certainly get what you want. read more

Based on their website and customer service, so far I am not impressed. I went to purchase season tickets online and somehow ended up purchasing last year's season tickets (I'm not sure how that is even possible). But after a month of receiving no information aside from a confirmation number, I decided to give them a call After calling several times and being put in an endless loop of automated messages, I finally was able to reach a customer service representative. Aside from a 'sorry' and the offer of a refund, I was told there was nothing they could do unless I wanted tickets for the current season (different shows than what I thought I purchased) at the same cost. we just saw What the Constitution Means to Me. i do not believe this show is worthy of being in the subscription series for annual shows. Maybe one of the Theaters on Belmont. The Office would have been a much better choice. the lead actor was great, the play was well done but very disjointed, with jumping subject matter and why the "American Legion person" needed his time in the spotlight was just odd. Lots of personal stories that had nothing to do with the constitution. the "High Schooler" who debated was hard to understand, had a lisp? why not use microphones on all talent? it's 2020, they are small and help the audience hear. the debate with the audience was odd and seemed all scripted. This show was in the playhouse and for sure was not worth the same cost as shows at the grand theaters on Randolph street. read more

Literally the worst company. Just a heads up, buying tickets to Broadway in Chicago shows could be a much more difficult process than expected! Here are a few tips that could cost you your job, or even a few thousand dollars, but at least you'll have tickets. 1. Make sure you take off an entire day of work to purchase tickets! - Are you interested in seeing a Broadway in Chicago show? Make sure you aren't at work, or their ridiculous ticket limits will result in a loss of your tickets. Their limit of 6 tickets over the ENTIRE run of Hamilton (which was not clear if it was per performance or over the entire run) will result in you losing your tickets if you purchased your tickets on the same IP address as ANY other person buying tickets. If you're in an office building, you're out of luck! Be sure you skip work, no matter the consequences, in order to buy tickets to one of their shows. It's the only way to keep things fair and secure after all!!! 2. Make sure you don't live, and have never lived with anyone who has ever purchased tickets! - You might need to get a new house for this one! If you purchased tickets, and your billing or mailing address was EVER the same as ANY other person buying tickets (ex. family members who have since moved out of the house, someone who is in the process of going to college, etc.) your tickets will be TAKEN! This includes living at a mailing address that another active account has ever used! It doesn't matter if you don't live there any more, or if you are making a move, they treat their ticket purchasing like a matter of national security. Obviously nothing could be more important than limiting the number of tickets people have to a show, especially when it has an open ended run! 3. Don't try to reach out to customer service. The only concern of this company is to pretend they are a part of the real Broadway community, when in reality they are glorified booking agents. They will push everything back on Ticketmaster and Hamilton in general. Every step of the process places the blame instead of trying to help prove that purchases are legit. You're the worst, Broadway in Chicago. You claim to be helping bring experiences to Chicago, but you have now cost my family members thousands of dollars in travel fees and hotel rooms spent in plans to see this show during the holidays. I hope nothing for nothing but the worst for you. P.S. Congratulations on making the second-hand market for Hamilton Tickets even WORSE, as now all of us who purchased tickets the legit way will now pay more than double to try to see this show on a third party site. read more
