The Cadillac Palace Theatre is stunning! I feel so lucky to have such a nice theatre in my city. This place runs like a well oiled machine. Once doors open, they get everyone in and to their seats quickly. I'm impressed by how clean everything is from the seats to the bathrooms. All of the employees are very courteous and knowledgeable. Although the actual performance and show were great, what a horrible staff that works here (sans 1 person who actually helped). When we first arrived, upon checking our tickets, our tickets wouldn't scan/verify. The usher was getting frustrated with us for this, and made us go to the ticket booth to get our physical tickets. We showed the person the tickets on our phone, and she printed them out for us -- after several rounds of confusion on her part. She was so soft spoken (in a noisy theatre entrance) that it led to much confusion. After this, we had to "cut" back into the entrance line (the security guard was helpful here) and we got thru the gates, finally. Then this usher/ticket checker who scanned our tickets (the 2nd time) was literally yelling at us on which direction to go (not a yelling as in being loud, but yelling like we were stupid). I go the way he yells at me because he won't stop yelling at me to go the direction he points me in -- which is the wrong direction. We had orchestra seats and were headed there, but this usher/ticket checker was yelling at us to go up the stairs. Fine, maybe I'm wrong. We get upstairs, and the 2nd usher again points us in the wrong direction to go further upstairs. This is again incorrect. We are flustered and confused, and not sure what is going on. We finally reach the 3rd usher at the top of the stairs, and he finally points us in the correct direction. The ushers here (Sans the 3rd one) were incompetent and rude. read more

05/12/26 - My wife & I went The Cadillac Theater to see Les Miserables. The show was inside Cadillac Palace. This was the first time I have been inside this theater. We were seated on the balcony in the third row so we had a pretty good view of the stage. The Cadillac Theater is a beautiful theater located @ 151 W Randolph Street. There's is a parking garage 1/2 block down on Wells where there is a discounted rate for theater goers from 6pm - 11pm during the show. There's Cadillac Theater opened in 1926. It's a beautiful theater w/2300 seat venue supposedly modeled after The Palace of Versailles. I say supposedly because I've been there and I don't see the similarities. That being said the Cadillac theater is a beautiful theater. The seating is spread out so all of the seats have a good view of the stage. The theater is beautiful, the staging for the musical Les Miserable was very impressive w/the props & stage items changing seamlessly. We had a great experience at the Cadillac Theatre. Originally opened as a movie theatre, the beautiful Rococo inspired design instantly transports you back into the 1920s. The theatre hosts some of the most desired Broadway shows that come through Chicago. The only critique I have is they need more staff for drinks and snacks. This was an obvious issue before the show and during intermission. Considering they sell drinks at a separate counters than snacks, you do not have enough time to do both during the intermission because all of the lines are so long. Now mix in trying to go to the bathroom, too. If you're alone it is one or the other or miss part of the show. Highly recommend coming early to grab snacks so you can avoid that line later. read more

It had been a long while since I attended a play at the beautiful Cadillac Theater, and I was not disappointed in the slightest! The return to this historic venue was wonderful. The historic venue was a wonderful experience. The architecture remains as stunning as ever, providing the perfect atmosphere to see Phantom of the Opera. I have seen Phantom several times and this production was top-tier. Isaiah Bailey's performance as the Phantom was rich and commanding, The famous chandelier and the underground lagoon set were just as stunning as I remembered. We bought last minute tickets to see the Phantom of the Opera. We sat on the balcony level, which made it hard to see the stage if you don't have eyesight like a hawk! Saw Phantom of the Opera at Cadillac Palace. The palace originally opened in 1926. It is a stunning building inside. The show was absolutely amazing. The acoustics of the building are fantastic. I couldn't see how many musicians were playing, but it was perfect for the phantom. The staff helping us to our seats were all friendly. The costume's and the sets were magnificent. The actors and actresses were very impressive. I could hear the music again and again for days after the performance; so rare!!! The leg room in the balcony seating was tight. Back to 4 stars but still recommended! What you'd want - great sight lines, comfortable seating (at least in the orchestra section), and a good sound system - are all there. It is a fitting venue for touring and other musical productions. The grandeur has been kept up tremendously, with marble everywhere you look, yet it doesn't feel tacky or OTT. The restroom lines are still a prison yard spectacle, and it's a bummer. It's fine to keep things moving and have a somewhat intense system for doing so. But I really dislike the power trip and lack of coordination. I was there early on in the intermission, thank goodness, and one woman told me to stand alongside the wall. Sure! Then about 20 seconds later, another woman working there told me to stand against a different wall while I waited. As I was in the stall, I heard one woman shouting directions at everyone - the crazy thing was that she didn't seem mad or rude, but she was at such an obnoxious volume with extremely repetitive shouts! It was honestly annoying, between that and literally being told "up against the wall" like we're criminals. It's also downright stupid that there's no wifi here. What year is it? read more

This theater is gorgeous, as many classic theaters in Chicago are. But I also loved the size, because the back rows of seats are still not far from the stage. Staff was excellent at their jobs. Seats were comfortable. And the cleanliness was impecable. Phantom of the Opera was an amazing performance, and some of the scenery changes were astonishing. Brought my daughter to Chicago to see Phantom of the Opera for her birthday. It was our first experience at the Cadillac Palace Theater and we were in awe of the beautiful theater! The show was phenomenal and the staff was friendly. They seemed well organized and were able to get people where they needed to go without it feeling too packed in any one area. We did get the VIP access that provided light snacks, drinks, and private bathrooms! We got to skip the incredibly long lines of the general bathrooms! If you know you know! This is a beautiful venue with good staff. We went before the play to know where and when we would be able to go in. They were very nice about this. Security is good but you will not be able to take in any sort of drink. I was able to take in an empty disposable water bottle (I have medical issues but I would not count on this). Great experience seeing Moulin Rouge at the Cadillac Palace! We arrived at the box office the morning of bright and early to get rush tickets, and were seated in the orchestra for the matinee show. AMAZING SEATS! The bathroom line during intermission was incredibly long, but the usher assured us it was a quick moving line and we would all be able to make it back to the show on time (she was correct!). No outside food or drink were allowed, but they sold drinks, candy, and water inside the theater. read more

This is the absolute worst theater to watch Broadway shows! The security lines are always terribly slow and they have not figured out how to speed up the process. People are literally crowding the outside public sidewalks trying to figure out which lines to use with no direction from the staff at all. Bathrooms are horrendous! They have 4 stalls to accommodate an entire theater level, so you're spending the entire 25-minute intermission waiting in the bathroom line hoping to get back to your seat in time. This theater is so disorganized that they are walking people in during the middle of a show with flashlights. Last thing is this theater acts like a sports stadium with selling concessions. People are scarfing down popcorn and candy like animals during the middle of a Broadway show in their seats. As soon as the show is over the aisles are filled with trash like a Cubs game. I've never seen issues like this at the Lyric Opera, Symphony Center, Auditorium, etc. Avoid if possible. read more

Sharing the letter I wrote to the Cadillac Theatre and Broadway in Chicago for which I never received a response: I am writing to share a concern regarding audience management during performances at your theatre. I attended The Phantom of the Opera last night and unfortunately, the experience was significantly disrupted by a visibly intoxicated family seated nearby. They spoke throughout the performance and, most notably, sang very loudly during the final song--directly over the performer during what is meant to be a pinnacle and emotionally powerful moment of the production. This behavior was disruptive and diminished the experience for many audience members in the surrounding area. This was not an isolated incident. Last year, while attending Moulin Rouge at your theatre, I experienced a similar situation involving two belligerent and intoxicated audience members who talked, sang, danced, and cried audibly through much of Act I and part of Act II before finally being escorted out. I paid $250 for my ticket last night to see one of my favorite musicals, and it is deeply disappointing to have that experience compromised by behavior that should be unacceptable in a professional theatre setting. Audience etiquette is essential to preserving the integrity of live performance, and more proactive intervention would go a long way in protecting both patrons and performers. I want to emphasize that the theatre itself is beautiful, and the productions you host are outstanding. It is precisely because of the quality of your programming that I feel compelled to raise this concern. I strongly encourage you to consider stronger audience management practices to ensure that future performances can be enjoyed as intended. read more

I love this theater! It's so gorgeous . It's Chicago, so of course drinks and snacks can be priced high. On my recent visit, a signature cocktail and a cookie cost $19. My biggest complaint is the size of the bathrooms. Not like they can do much about that. I appreciate the helpfulness of the ushers to not only find seats but to call out patrons who are on their phone or blocking view of others. Plenty of parking garages nearby. This was first time visiting the CPT. It is such a beautiful venue. We had center orchestra seating. The perfect view for an Amazing Show. The cast did an amazing job. Everyone was talented. Even when a curtain was hung on the door by accident they improved thru it. I wish I had more time to take interior photos. We parked on the street around the corner and were running close to the start time. W Luckily we had enough time to purchase drinks and snacks. I wouldn't suggest buying more cups than you can carry. No cup holders and I placed my cup on the floor and it was kicked over by accident. Definitely a must see show and perfect venue to attend. Definitely one of my favorite theaters in Chicago. I just love the charm and the vibe at the theater. I'm always excited when I notice that a show is set to be at Cadillac Palace. So far I have enjoyed Aladdin, Ain't Too Proud, A Wonderful World and The Company. The theater is right in the heart of the Chicago theater district with plenty of food venues and parking nearby. I always try to grab something with spothero as I can normally get a good parking spot for a decent price. In the self fortunate to view a lot of shows with the Broadway in Chicago seasonal program and I am never disappointed when I see a show at this theater. I appreciate the ease of getting to the concessions and purchasing items at the merchandise after the show. This theater has plenty of restrooms and they also have elevator to assist with patrons that need some additional help getting up to the higher sections. I also like that they have electronic board that reads the lines for the hearing impaired. This is amazing...sometimes the performers talk to fast and I can look at this board for a refresher. Lol All in all a very nice theater and I cannot wait to see the pre-Broadway release of the Wiz that will be happening at the theater very soon!!!! read more

Today, we enjoyed a new musical about the amazing life and loves of Louis Armstrong called "A Wonderful World" This theater has been around since 1926 and has been the location for many great shows. This one was outstanding. I'm so happy we saw it. Today's show was incredible from the performance of each and every one of the artists to the music and story told of this incredible man named Louis Armstrong. I applaud loudly for their work in telling his story, the artist James Monroe Iglehart, who sounded just like Mr. Armstrong, along with all the performers, were superb a must see show. read more

It's a spectacular theater, no doubt about it. The decor and chandeliers are gorgeous. Everything is red and Gold but the bathroom and bar service is so small compared to the amount of people who attend these musicals. We were just there to watch Annie the musical. The bathroom line was so long. I stood in line during intermission and was never able to use the bathroom.. The Annie backdrop for photos was right next to the bathroom so you can imagine the drama of entitled patrons getting angry because you got in their picture. Not fun. Maybe don't put the Annie backdrop next to the bathrooms? Also, the ushers are not helpful. They should be telling people where in this giant theater there are more bathrooms. The ushers are just standing around looking speechless. If you go to the Cadillac Palace go to Starbucks next door before or after your musical. read more

I've been here several times and the last time I was here was to see Aladdin on broadway. I really like the venue - there's so much character and charm to it. It's stunning to see all the details on the ceilings, walls, etc. everywhere you turn there is something beautiful to look at. This spot is kept clean and well maintained. My mom and I went to see Book of Mormon at Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago. This wasn't our first time to this theatre, but we like this theatre a lot because it's easy to navigate, they have nice employees, and there is a lot of space for people to move around. We got orchestra seats to see the show and the theatre is small already, so we were up close and could watch all of the action. The seats were comfortable too, so my back didn't hurt like it does at other theatres when I'm sitting there for two hours. The bathrooms are easy to find. If you're in the main lobby, you just go down the stairs, and there are multiple bathroom stalls, so the line is never too long of a wait. I'm not sure if there is an elevator to get up and down the stairs in the theatre, though. After the show, my mom and I went to the stage door, and the employees of the theatre and the actors of the show were very nice and the employees made sure we were safe walking to our car. Great, beautiful venue! My one issue is that if you're sitting to the side the acoustics are not the greatest ever. I struggled to pick up dialogue/songs without perfect annunciation and I have never thought/been told I have issues with my hearing. The seats to the side are cheaper though, so I guess that's what you get... but I have visited other theatre's and sat in similar seats and have not struggled to hear a word. I'm not sure about the alcohol prices but the other concession prices weren't outrageous which is appreciated! read more

Me and A Friend came to see The Hip Hop Nutcracker. This is my first time coming to The Cadillac Theatre. You can tell it's been around for a long time by the structure of the building. But the agriculture of this building has a modern look. The seats werent comfortable and I got a leg cramp. The seats doesn't allow you to have enough leg room to move your legs. Every seat section had a nice view of the stage. Which was nice to have a clear view and the sound system was loud and clear to hear the performers. Besides the seats not having enough leg room. Went to the theatre last December for my bday. Had an amazing time. We saw the Lion King on Broadway. One of the best performances I've ever witnessed. We arrived right before the play started. Ushers escorted us to the seats quickly so we didn't miss the beginning! Thanks!!!! I really appreciate good, comfortable seats at a theater especially when the performances are long. They got us in the door, checked, and checked in within minutes. The bathrooms were well stocked and clean. The concession/bar were able to get we home taken care of before the show began.
