Visited the Cadillac Palace Theatre to see The Phantom of the Opera, and it was an unforgettable experience. The theatre itself is gorgeous--grand, elegant, and filled with intricate details that added to the beauty and drama of the performance. We were seated in the Left Dress Circle. While the view was slightly obstructed, we were still able to see and enjoy the show without it taking away from the overall experience. Stunning venue for an awesome production. 5/5

It had been a long while since I attended a play at the beautiful Cadillac Theater, and I was not disappointed in the slightest! The return to this historic venue was wonderful. The historic venue was a wonderful experience. The architecture remains as stunning as ever, providing the perfect atmosphere to see Phantom of the Opera. I have seen Phantom several times and this production was top-tier. Isaiah Bailey's performance as the Phantom was rich and commanding, The famous chandelier and the underground lagoon set were just as stunning as I remembered. We bought tickets the day before and the tickets were reasonable and we had a clear view of the stage. A memorable performance!

We bought last minute tickets to see the Phantom of the Opera. We sat on the balcony level, which made it hard to see the stage if you don't have eyesight like a hawk! I would recommend bringing some binoculars or viewing glasses. The acoustics in the theatre were great! The performance was phenomenal.

Saw Phantom of the Opera at Cadillac Palace. The palace originally opened in 1926. It is a stunning building inside. The show was absolutely amazing. The acoustics of the building are fantastic. I couldn't see how many musicians were playing, but it was perfect for the phantom. The staff helping us to our seats were all friendly. The costume's and the sets were magnificent. The actors and actresses were very impressive. I could hear the music again and again for days after the performance; so rare!!! The leg room in the balcony seating was tight. But the overall experience, Amazing!!!

Brought my daughter to Chicago to see Phantom of the Opera for her birthday. It was our first experience at the Cadillac Palace Theater and we were in awe of the beautiful theater! The show was phenomenal and the staff was friendly. They seemed well organized and were able to get people where they needed to go without it feeling too packed in any one area. We did get the VIP access that provided light snacks, drinks, and private bathrooms! We got to skip the incredibly long lines of the general bathrooms! If you know you know! We hope to travel back to Chicago and catch more shows in the future!

Came here with a large group to see The Phantom of the Opera. I don't think I was prepared for the absolute grandeur of this location. It is breathtaking. I can only imagine the stories this building could tell given its history. The location was clean as were the bathrooms. I really hope that I'm able to come back in the future.

This is a beautiful venue with good staff. We went before the play to know where and when we would be able to go in. They were very nice about this. Security is good but you will not be able to take in any sort of drink. I was able to take in an empty disposable water bottle (I have medical issues but I would not count on this). Inside the theater is amazing. The sound is perfection. We saw Phantom of the Opera, which I had wanted to see for 30+ years. It did not disappoint.

Great experience seeing Moulin Rouge at the Cadillac Palace! We arrived at the box office the morning of bright and early to get rush tickets, and were seated in the orchestra for the matinee show. AMAZING SEATS! The bathroom line during intermission was incredibly long, but the usher assured us it was a quick moving line and we would all be able to make it back to the show on time (she was correct!). No outside food or drink were allowed, but they sold drinks, candy, and water inside the theater.

Beautiful, ornate, classic theater. Great seating from every angle! Beauty and the Beast was amazing! Love the Chicago theater scene and this place is a jewel!

I watched Phantom of the Opera, front row, on Thursday night, Jan. 15th! What a spectacular show!! This was the first time I had ever seen Phantom --and what a GREAT experience this was! Powerful, enthralling singing, moving and suspenseful plot line, and mind-blowing, beautifully crafted stage sets and costumes!! The theater itself was incredibly spacious, clean, well-appointed, and well-staffed by friendly and efficient employees, too! I look forward to returning for future performances and hopefully finding someone who can come with me next time!

I love this theater! It's so gorgeous . It's Chicago, so of course drinks and snacks can be priced high. On my recent visit, a signature cocktail and a cookie cost $19. My biggest complaint is the size of the bathrooms. Not like they can do much about that. I appreciate the helpfulness of the ushers to not only find seats but to call out patrons who are on their phone or blocking view of others. Plenty of parking garages nearby. I recommend using spot hero to find a spot!

This was first time visiting the CPT. It is such a beautiful venue. We had center orchestra seating. The perfect view for an Amazing Show. The cast did an amazing job. Everyone was talented. Even when a curtain was hung on the door by accident they improved thru it. I wish I had more time to take interior photos. We parked on the street around the corner and were running close to the start time. W Luckily we had enough time to purchase drinks and snacks. I wouldn't suggest buying more cups than you can carry. No cup holders and I placed my cup on the floor and it was kicked over by accident. Definitely a must see show and perfect venue to attend. Thank you to my niece and her husband for inviting me.

Definitely one of my favorite theaters in Chicago. I just love the charm and the vibe at the theater. I'm always excited when I notice that a show is set to be at Cadillac Palace. So far I have enjoyed Aladdin, Ain't Too Proud, A Wonderful World and The Company. The theater is right in the heart of the Chicago theater district with plenty of food venues and parking nearby. I always try to grab something with spothero as I can normally get a good parking spot for a decent price. In the self fortunate to view a lot of shows with the Broadway in Chicago seasonal program and I am never disappointed when I see a show at this theater. I appreciate the ease of getting to the concessions and purchasing items at the merchandise after the show. This theater has plenty of restrooms and they also have elevator to assist with patrons that need some additional help getting up to the higher sections. I also like that they have electronic board that reads the lines for the hearing impaired. This is amazing...sometimes the performers talk to fast and I can look at this board for a refresher. Lol All in all a very nice theater and I cannot wait to see the pre-Broadway release of the Wiz that will be happening at the theater very soon!!!!

Can I bring my baby? Is the stroller is allowed?

The policy is no kids under 5 for most shows... I've never seen anyone with a stroller

Best way to get to the Theatre, and is there parking? What about Metra, will it get me close?

Use GPS, I drove as there are parking garages nearby. Use SpotHero app for cheaper parking rates, I parked one block south for $10

Good place to eat with kids around theater?

Any of our restaurant partners are a great option, though Giordano's might be the most appealing for families - http://www.broadwayinchicago.com/plan-your-trip/restaurant-partners/

My 13 year old granddaughter wants to know what to wear to Cadillac theater matinee?

Since this is the main goto theatre for tourists, there are a lot of people that come in jeans. Make sure to bring a coat because it gets real cold inside.

I like its ornate décor, the stadium style seats set-up which offers good stage view, the acoustics, and the overall aesthetics of this venue which makes it an ideal place to watch live events. On my recent (late June 2026) visit to see The Human League, Soft Cell, and Alison Moyet for the Generations tour, overall, I had a good experience. There were couple of issues that we had such as lack of cool air circulation inside the auditorium (it was hot and sweaty) and a couple of people standing throughout the show to dance, blatantly blocking other peoples' view and not caring about being inconsiderate and uncourteous to people behind them to which the theatre ushers had no problem with it. Otherwise, I have not had issues at this venue. So, 4.5 stars but rounded up to five. I look forward to going back here.

Somehow, I learned about a children's production presented through their educational wing. I'm not sure if their education & engagement was this strong in years past or perhaps I simply wasn't dialed into their offerings, but that's definitely changing now. We went to see Splish Splash. This was a 50 minute long story about a blue heron and friends who are seeking to repair the moon after it fell into Lake Michigan. There were songs, there was play, and it was highly interactive. The kids--fellow "sailors", along with three of the cast members--learned a song to sing along at various parts of the show. There were several times when the kids were invited onto the "stage" (it was in one of their lab/classroom spaces, so there wasn't a raised stage) to help or participate. It was so well done, and kept the kids engaged. I really loved how this experience was designed. Upon arrival we were checked in and pointed to one of the classroom spaces. I was surprised because I wasn't sure how actors could be safe there, but it was actually a room for the kids to color and read books or play with toys and stuff before we were taken into the room where the performance took place. I've only seen something that was meant to keep kids busy like that before showtime is at Filament Theatre, and we've gone to kids shows at two or three other theaters by now. It was a great touch. This production was specifically geared toward children aged 0-5, which is atypical and felt so special that it was written with the littlest theatergoers. One of the important pre-show reminders was for adults, reminding us that it's a no-shush zone! I'm so excited that one of the most important theaters in the city, and the oldest non-profit theater still in operation in Chicago, is so committed to developing young audiences in an exciting way and meeting them where they're at. We'll be regulars at their Theatre for the Very Young programs.

I was reminded of the same issues I mentioned in my earlier review, issues that persist after almost a decade. Like many theatres, they make you wait outside (in this case, in the cold), while they get the theatre ready. Maybe they don't want to pay for the workers to be there for too long beforehand? It makes for a crappy experience. You are then funneled inside while security guards bark orders at you, even when all you're doing is trying to find your way inside in a polite manner. Luckily, the guard in our line was nice enough and joked around with the kids. The lobby is tiny, unlike the other major theatres downtown, so that is something to be aware of. There's really zero room to breathe, and the intermission bathroom line snakes up from the basement into the bar line. Luckily, I got there earlier on, but that's a bad experience. The bathrooms aren't that nice, sadly, and they could use extra care. There are a lot of stalls that don't lock, don't have purse hooks attached anymore, etc. Worse yet, the attendants are on a power trip, though they're not quite as mean as others in similar theatres, and the line moves quickly. I just don't appreciate them yelling "up against the wall!" It's a bit much. The orchestra seats were pretty comfortable and even have good sight lines for short people! From what I saw, the snacks weren't as expensive as one might imagine, though not cheap. Frustratingly, there is no public wifi here. What year is it?

Sharing a letter that I wrote to Broadway in Chicago and the Cadillac Theatre for which I never…read morereceived a response: I am writing to share a concern regarding audience management during performances at your theatre (Cadillac). I attended The Phantom of the Opera last night and unfortunately, the experience was significantly disrupted by a visibly intoxicated family seated nearby. They spoke throughout the performance and, most notably, sang very loudly during the final song--directly over the performer during what is meant to be a pinnacle and emotionally powerful moment of the production. This behavior was disruptive and diminished the experience for many audience members in the surrounding area. This was not an isolated incident. Last year, while attending Moulin Rouge at your theatre, I experienced a similar situation involving two belligerent and intoxicated audience members who talked, sang, danced, and cried audibly through much of Act I and part of Act II before finally being escorted out. I paid $250 for my ticket last night to see one of my favorite musicals, and it is deeply disappointing to have that experience compromised by behavior that should be unacceptable in a professional theatre setting. Audience etiquette is essential to preserving the integrity of live performance, and more proactive intervention would go a long way in protecting both patrons and performers. I want to emphasize that the theatre itself is beautiful, and the productions you host are outstanding. It is precisely because of the quality of your programming that I feel compelled to raise this concern. I strongly encourage you to consider stronger audience management practices to ensure that future performances can be enjoyed as intended.
