The guy running the shop was caring for a street guy who had a minor head injury, bleeding from a temple and behaving erratically. I was moved by his efforts, even though I was just there to get a few more beers before bed. This shop has a decent selection of everything, although it's very small. read more

I go here quite a bit to get a soda and some snacks because it is so close to my home. The items are not very expensive and hardly ever gets crowded here. The owners are nice and friendly. If you are on this side of Broadway and need a soda, smokes, or "booze-n-snacks", this is the place to shop. read more

Christmas evening and Broadway Liquors is not only open, but home to $5 highballs to go, 8 different It's It ice cream cookie sandwich flavors to choose from, and a faux eyelash selection better than any beauty store I've ever been in. Commence our final Hoodrat Holiday of 2014. It's Christmas and all my family is 2500 miles away but it's totally cool because I hate holidays and my partner-in-crime, Dana G, and I have planned a Festivus for the record books. Outside is miscreant central but inside is pretty friggin clutch for booze on the run and a number of other really rad items for the anti-holiday of your dreams. We were actually on our way to a really nice orphan x-mas dinner with the nicest group of lesbians you've ever met and their super cute dogs and needed some booze-y provisions (and It's It, naturally) to ensure the evening was a success. They have plenty of wine and bubbles, chilled or room temp, and a decent selection of high gravity party beer. Just be sure the 6er you grab is full as they do sell singles, apparently, so it took us a few tries and a case re-org to get a full pack. They sell these little things called BuzzBalls that look like a mix between a grenade and something you'd stuff your bra only they're filled with 20% alcohol cocktails that fit in your palm. The green one tastes like a margarita you'd get in the suburbs (actually not that bad), the chocolate creamy one is actually delicious and as gross as it looks I'd totally get this again, and there's a red one called a 'Strawberry Rum Job' that we didn't try but got for the party strictly based on name alone. The counter guy was totally with it and new his inventory like the back of his hand. We walked up asked for bobby pins (located behind the counter) and her knew exactly what we were talking about. That paired with the (literal) hundreds of faux eyelashes makes this my favorite one-stop shot for a Hoodrat Holiday with bonus hot mess pre-game. read more

Whenever I'm out and about and need to pick up some booze this is where I stop, great deals and the atmosphere for a liquor store is awesome. This is the spot to go to for quick cheap liquor if you're on Broadway. The store is ran by a nice Asian couple (assuming they're together) and this definitely is the place to pre-game instead of blowing all your money at a bar or restaurant. Will definitely be back for more cheap liquor when the opportunity presents itself. read more

It's funny how perfectly located this place is for the pre-partying crowd. They have a very good selection of bottled drinks and even the Honest Ade I've been trying out. I picked up a Pomegranate Blue Honest Ade drink and some other organic juice here. I think it was just like $2 for each drink which is great. I would love to tell you a story in which I was questionably rude and the whole narrative could be misconstrued. But here's the thing, I walked in to this place, I bought 2-30s of Bud Light up and they charged me $65. When I asked them "wow $1 a beer? Is that a competitive rate?" The guy behind the counter responded with "SHOW ME A BETTER RATE AND THEN WE CAN TALK." I put it all in caps because that's how it was said. He yelled it is what I'm saying. Then he continued to challenge me to "find a rate for $15" and he would talk with us, I responded "I never said that someone would charge $15 for this. All I said was you are over charging for this amount of beer." He insisted that we get out. Even after I had already paid the money for this. That's the kind of place this is. A place where a horrible human being possesses the ability to say "pay for this and get the fuck out." So yea. I would say don't go here. Go to a place that charges a reasonable rate. read more

This neighborhood has so many liquor stores around that its hard to compare any one to another, but I have to say that this particular store does have many good qualities. I like that this store stocks many quality craft brews from California and surrounding states and that more than 90% of them are available in both bulk and by the bottle, it definitely makes it easier to try new brews. Also, I like that this particular store stocks a variety of sizes for their liquor selection, many others around only carry 5ths and maybe one other size, but here many are available in both pints and half pints. I rated this place only 3 stars because some of their items are heavily over priced, its hard for me to pay $5 for each buzzball; when others are selling them for around $3.50 each or even 3 for $8. read more

This place is good for 40's but that's about it. Their wine is way too marked up; you can get a much better deal at any of the other shops in the area. Not much of a selection of snack food either and the ice cream is marked up quite a bit and appears to have been thawed and refrozen. read more

The parking meters outside only take quarters and cost $2/hour with a maximum of 2 hours to park there. I exhausted the eight quarters in my purse and needed another 8, so I walked into Broadway Liquors and kindly asked the woman working there if I could get change for a dollar. She told me I had to buy something, which I assumed, so I did. While she was ringing me up, I politely asked "can I get two dollars in quarters?", and she immediately said "no". I actually thought she was joking because of her tone, she said it like that was a ridiculous request. She gave me my change in dollars with only four quarters. I smiled and said "you can't spare me four more?", and then she lost it on me. She started yelling about how I need to go down to the bank if I want quarters and why don't I carry quarters on me, etc. I was downright floored because I never gave her any sort of negative energy that would escalate her to the point of yelling at me. From someone who has worked in customer service for many years, I'm appalled that she felt like this was okay, and I hope whoever runs this store reads this post. read more
