They are selling EXPIRED skinnygirl margarita. This product has been hard to find since covid and Drizly showed it was available here. I grabbed a bottle from their cooler and noticed it was darker than usual. I thought, "maybe it's the lighting in here." Price = 20 bucks. WTF. That's 7 bucks above list price. Still, I was really craving skinnygirl so I paid it. Brought it back to my apt and it still looked very brown. Took a sip and it was truly awful. Like rubbing alcohol and bottled lime juice. This review is based upon a visit during Covid-19. Solid selection of drinks(alcoholic and non) and some snacks as well. Prices seemed a little high(more so on snacks) but I'm not from the area and I understand stuff is pricey in this area. Place seemed pretty clean but they had a few things on the floor and stuff as they seemed to be restocking. Gentlemen behind the counter kept to himself which is both nice and sometimes a negative. But in this situation I was fine with it. We found our items and checked out. It is very obvious that this place has premium prices. YES, you can get that same bottle of liquor at Costco or online for cheaper. Did you really come here to get a good deal on liquor? I would assume you're not a moron and the answer is no. You come here because you need something quick and you happen to be in the area. The area is unforgiving on the weekends (there really isn't much open late) so this place is perfect for a quick stop for some last minute essentials. Totally an over priced liquor store, if you need fine spirits do not buy from here even though I like to support the small guy. Whistle Pig 10 year Rye every where online is $70-$85, this place charged $110. When questioned if they would price match the answer was no, when I advised K&L had for $69, they basically called me a liar and said they called them and it was not true. Very disappointing experience, I can appreciate being small and needing additional markup but 38% is harsh. Will never go here again and work on your customer service. read more

Firstly, like many other reviewers mentioned, go here knowing you'll be paying more here than at many other (maybe larger) stores. That being said, it's just so convenient! Usually if I know in advance that I have an event to go to, I'll pick something up way ahead of time. Recently though, I'd forget or I'd be in a rush and that's where Soma Wines & Spirits comes in. It's close to my office, so it's easy to walk over and pick something up on the go. The intersection doesn't get too busy in the evenings (i.e., after rush hour) so it's easy to catch a ride from there afterwards. read more

Just got back to the hotel from here. The employee was super sketchy. My total was $77.49. I gave him $50 in cash & told him to charge the rest on my card ($27.49). I think he voided an item to keep some cash because he was messing with the register and was acting super suspicious. When I swiped my card, he only charged me $20.49. Plus he never put the cash inside the register. I asked him for a receipt. He was trying to act cool and smart by handing me the credit card receipt. The catch is, the guy working there every single time I've been in is DIRTY AND RUDE. Completely unreasonably overpriced. Expect to pay 40-60% more than anywhere else for the same items. TRASH SERVICE AND HORRIBLE OWNERS I order lunch from there yesterday. After I scanned the bar code there, the owner refuses to give me my meal. They said, "my confirmation page does not look like those from other customers". I tried to reason with them, but they were completely unreceptive. I've been coming to this neighborhood for the last 10 years and to the store for the last 6 years. These guys are great, work their butt off, know their customers on a first name basis and know the customers preferences. Some of the comments are unfair. This is not Trader Joe's: I don't know what the rent is but it is safe to assume it is very high. Nevertheless, their 6 pack of Bass is not even a couple bucks more than at Trader Joe's. You pay a little bit for convenience on some items and you support your local merchant. There are also items you don't find anywhere else: Maltesers, Lion, Bounty, all sorts of Swiss Chocolates , healthy organic Frozen dinners, Premium ice creams, Organic Milk etc. Regarding the comment on the fact they don't ship wine to other States, I wouldn't even ask a neighborhood liquor store and deli whether they ship wine to other States. You clearly started the closing process at least 20 minutes even before your posted closing time. And this is not the first time. This is the third time I have run down there to find you randomly closed before 12am. Being a small store, I figured maybe someone had an emergency the first time, or the second time, hey, maybe it was someone's birthday. Now it's clear as day that you cannot be relied upon to be open during your posted hours. I will not bother to even consider coming down there for anything ever again. You are a neighborhood store that does not appreciate nor serve your neighborhood customers. You have a convenient location. I like the guy who is usually there, who told me, at least, he keeps it open till 2am, who truly does seem to keep it open till 2am. He seems to be the owner perhaps? 2 am is great, 4 hours after Whole Foods which is just an extra block. albeit long block, away. But did they recently change their hours? Now it's only open till midnight. Which is still not too bad, I guess. But as I have come to discover, it's not even open until midnight. They just close and go home whenever they feel like it. So when you run down there, in the rain, already resigned to pay double just to find they decided CLOSE EARLY? I don't care if it's only 4 minutes early, that is LITERALLY what you are there for. There is no point to your store anymore. So forget it. Know what? Rather than pay double for whatever, I'll just make it to Whole Foods by 10pm. No biggie. Consider that I live nearby and this place is always good in a pinch. No doubt overpriced, but you pay for the convenience. Soma Wines doubles as as the Marriott's Courtyard's convenience store with many guests from the hotel stopping by. For me, I don't mind paying a little extra for staples such as milk, butter, etc as opposed to driving to Safeway. This place is no longer Zains. The new owners know their customers and treat you well. The wine selection is good but as noticed steep in price. On weekends, they sometimes don't open on time. read more
