I told her our situation and she was very understanding about it. I chose the 30 mins massage for us so we can take turns and it won't take so much time for the both of us. It was a great massage in general. She really did her best to relax my muscles since it's been all tight and I haven't had a massage for a while now. I am so happy I chose this place. Im not sure how such a small woman was able to apply so much pressure (i asked for hard) or how she tossed me around so easily but she definitely got all the knots out that I didnt even know I had. She walked on my back which was another new experience for me (you can opt out of it) and again used her feet better than some places use there hands to find the areas that really need it. Every step of the way they explain what youre getting into and say you can cut anything short that isnt for you. Also most importantly the place was super clean. I came in initially for just to relax and warm up on a winter day after recently moving to Winthrop. I've since been back 3 times and she is helping me with a shoulder injury. She spent time with me to better understand my injury and we did a whole session just focused on my shoulder and I've noticed a huge improvement. Even though it was a short appointment just to work on my shoulder, Donna spent a bit of extra time on other areas to make sure I also got a relaxing experience. My mom offered to take my 1 year old for the night unexpectedly. I was in serious pain from moving all day and I had a night off from my kid so I called 11 different massage places hoping somewhere could fit me in on short notice. By the time I called Serenity I would have been just as happy to pay a neighbor or a child to give me a massage; I was DESPERATE. So I took a chance even though this place looked sketchy from the moment I saw it. The woman tried to push me to get a longer massage than I wanted, obviously to make more money. I was not about to spend $80 on a massage here. I was really not keen on spending $60 for 30 minutes but like I said, I was desperate. She made me pay first, including tip, which I hate because how am I supposed to give an accurate tip without knowing how the service is even going to be? When she asked what I wanted to tip, I told her, and she said it wasn't enough. I was REALLY annoyed at this point so I said "add whatever the hell you want". She gave herself $5 more than I originally told her to add. I timed her massage and she ended 3 minutes early. I doubt she's licensed because I mostly felt pinching the entire time. The instrumental music she had on was annoying to say the least. She talked through the first 15 minutes of the massage even though I could barely understand her and I offered no response. I get massages often and usually at MUCH nicer places. I told myself not to be a snob and to give this place a chance but NEVER AGAIN. This woman honestly might be on drugs if she thinks her massages are worth what she charges. If she charged $30 MAX, I would have been a lot less offended by the whole thing. I'm not a cheap person; it was just that bad. Do not go here. There is not ONE redeeming quality.
