I enlisted in the United States Navy as a teenager young and naïve. I was a good soldier and gave it my all. I was called at 4.0 soldier because of my evil and I was also decorated. Unfortunately, during the first golf war, I was seriously injured overseas and brought back to the United States for treatment. I was given a series of nerve blocks 4 to 5 a week for 90 days. Every time needing to be sedated with heavy anesthesia. Today the doctors say this type of procedure should've only been performed three times a year. I was also heavily medicated. My grandmother, Author that raised me had passed away and I wanted to go to her funeral. 2 MP's at a commissary try to detain me and I struck them both I left the scene went UA and was also charged with not following orders. After my grandmother's funeral, when I turned myself, and they threw me in the break for 90 days, gave me a Special Court, Marshall, other than honorable discharge and took away all my benefits. Military attorney Dan Conway has helped me pro bono to apply for Justice in getting my discharge up, upgraded to honorable. I was a good soldier and being overmedicated led to misconduct that cost my career. This man has gone above and beyond on only to help me but many other veterans in similar situations. I hired Mr. Conway to do my rebuttal for a GOMAR expecting that at the least, the rebuttal would look professional and be submitted on time since I paid him on time and provided dates and information on time. The rebuttal draft I was sent multiple days after it was due was erroneous and sloppy and was critiqued heavily by many professionals as "something an 8th grader would have produced" and I cannot say I disagreed. I spent time reviewing and finding error in the draft that was already late and sent them back to Mr. Conway outline the areas that needed to be fixed and the character statements that were missing that I wanted included assuming I would see this in the final draft. Nope, the final draft was a duplicate submission of the sloppily, semi-professional, erroneous document that was sent to me late and only after calling to ask him if it had been submitted. Honestly, I expected better as this made an already rough situation to deal with so much worse and irreversible and I feel as though my end of the contract was upheld; however, Mr. Conway's was not and he still received full payment of services beforehand. This is not how I believe a professional takes care of a client and really made me feel like I was another checked box for this law firm. I am a veteran business supporter, but I think if you're looking for an attorney find someone familiar with the area to recommend legal services to you.

The judge had not yet come into the court room. Mr. Dildy and the GAL (***) were talking across the room to each other about traveling to France and speaking French. Mr. Dildy said out loud, across the court room (Ms. *** was seated in the jury box), "Do you know why the French plant trees on both sides of the road"? Everyone in the room stopped and looked at Mr. Dildy. He proceeded to say, "so the Germans can march in the shade". Attorney *** and Dildy exchanged laughter at the punch line of the statement. This comment is extremely offensive to us since we are of German heritage. My family immigrated from Germany right before the war- I have an uncle who was made to fight for the Americans against his own family in Germany. He came back to the US after the war to commit suicide over the atrocities of war. Our ties to our German Heritage and Jewish family and friends will never find this type of oppressive language acceptable and for the court to allow an officer of the court to do so is NOT ACCEPTABLE. The loss of millions of lives is NOTHING to laugh about. There is absolutely NO humor in the loss of millions of lives. Our last name is an obvious German name. Why is this acceptable? Do you have an anti-Semitic officer of the court? Mr. David Dildy needs to be held accountable for his actions and the commonwealth of Virginia needs to ensure he attend and have documented unconscious bias counseling. I could not speak against this inappropriate language as I felt it would harm our son and generate repercussions against his case. There were multiple witnesses to the exchange. I'm sure the cameras in the court room recorded the exchange as well. We did not feel safe in that court room. If this officer of the court has this bias, is the rest of the Norfolk Va, judicial system like this? Our liberty was taken from us- we didn't feel free to speak against such inappropriate language.
