My mother passed away last year and I have an old gold chain that she always wore and never took off. Unfortunately the chain had broken and so I took it to another jeweler for repair along with some other other items. The other jeweler barely looked at the chains and advised immediately that they could not be fixed because they were not real gold. This was not only gut wrenching news as I felt this necklace was a part of my mother that was now gone forever, but to hear that she had been wearing something that was gold plated for decades seemed strange since she never took it off even to shower. They were then very interested in selling me something new. I was immediately turned off and fled that place. I then came to Lewis' thinking I would be told the same thing. I was pleasantly surprised that I was told the opposite. I walked in and was immediately assisted by Abby, who advised that while the chain was old, it was real 10 carat gold and could be fixed with no problem. She also helped me fix a vintage necklace that I bought at a flea market and wasn't of real value other than it looked cool and then I bought two other silver chains from her for some pendants I had lying around. She never steered me toward more expensive items and since I wanted to buy two chains instead of one, she even offered me a small discount which she didn't have to do. I will never forget her kindness and if anything, it makes me want to come back over and over again. I was able to walk around a bit while she worked her magic and I have to say that the fine jewelry they have on display is stunning and modern and priced reasonably well for what it is.

I live in Northern CA so I haven't had a chance to actually go in their new store so I must plan a trip to Norman to visit the store. We took it to Shortt's on a Saturday afternoon after New Years'. The ring needed some new prongs to keep the emerald cut stone safe and secure. It also needed lots of cleaning, resizing, and some repair. They gave us some really good advice about what would work best for this antique wedding set. We made our decisions and left the rings, but not for long. Shortt's took care of all of this in just a few days, for a very reasonable price. The ring is absolutely beautiful and we're so appreciative of their help.

My mom decided to check out a small local place called Shortt's because it was close to our house (at that time--they've since moved their shop to Norman; check out their Facebook page for the most up-to-date information). I begrudgingly went there (who wants to do what their mom says?), and I found the perfect ring for me. The engagement ring part is white gold and the setting curls around the large diamond and another tiny diamond comes off the setting, so that that part of the ring looks like a flower with a stem and tiny leaf by itself. The part you add has two sapphires flanking another small diamond, and it curls around the large diamond. I'm not good at describing it, but several people have remarked on how unique it is and can't believe I didn't have to custom order it. Also, it was much cheaper than most of the boring wedding sets the big companies had. The guy who helped us was friendly but professional, and there were no problems with the transaction. They also welded the two parts together for free, after I was finally able to part with it for a day. Also, I was worried about getting white gold because one of my friends got a white gold wedding set from one of the big stores and she's had to get it recoated once already, but I've been wearing mine for two years and the white gold still looks good. I am very satisfied with their service and craftsmanship.

There's always a great selection of quality items, along with snacks, cocktails, and even Santa Claus. It's a fun and relaxed way for me to see what catches my wife's eye, and I usually come back a week or so later to place an order. The team is always thoughtful and attentive. A couple of years ago, I purchased a ring my wife had been admiring for quite some time. This year, I noticed her looking for the companion earrings to that same ring. The exact pair she wanted was not in stock, but the team immediately knew exactly what I was referring to and placed the order without hesitation. I bought a watch here a while back. It's been a few years, but I needed a new battery for it. I was in town for the day, so I decided to stop by. I went in, and they changed my battery right there! They even cleaned my wedding band for me. I was very pleased, and even more so when they didn't charge me anything! I've always enjoyed this jewelry store compared to others around them in town. They always greet you when you come in, but don't harass you and breath down your neck the whole time. They saved me in my hour of need! I lost the diamond in my engagement ring exactly one week before my daughter's wedding and eight days before my 35th wedding anniversary. Regardless it's old so I wanted to give Yelp an update on my experience here. These guys are contracted by Gordon's Jewelry shops when it comes to plans and resizing. I had my very expensive engagement ring worked on by them. The resize was perfect. The cleaning was very well done and the polishing was okay. I also had a family heirloom worked on for cleaning and possible replacing diamond chips that were in it as well as a resize. It came out perfect. There wasn't any stones missing either - they did a great job on it and I was thrilled to be able to wear a ring given to me 25 years prior, for the very first time (as it never fit). The cost for the last ring I had sized down was $25. They finished it in 30min (which is about average for resizing with them) and looked 100 times better than when I brought it in. So after 3 rings and 3 separate trips here (2 made by my fiancé) I will have to say these guys are very nice and do great work and deserved to have an update to their tarnished name on Yelp (okay some pun was intended lol by you get my drift). The mall is insanely creepy. I heard the stories about it being the mall where some teenager was shot many many years ago and I assume slowly and surely over the years people have pulled their businesses out from it. There are still some shops in there and top brands to pick from. They have a few choices of places to eat and I only stayed on the first floor of it but I am sure there were more upstairs. The bathrooms need some work! Overall the jewelry repair shop is 5 stars and the mall is 2 and only because the shop I needed was in there and because they have the only bridal shop near by that had a dress I was once looking for available to try on or order from. I hope this review provides everyone needing quality craftsmanship for jewelry repair, sizing and cleaning a chance to keep it local and helps improve their likelihood of obtaining new clients because I think they deserve the business.
