I was notified 5 days before his surgery that he has to get clearance for his surgery by a St. John's pediatrician. I asked if I could take him to his existing pediatrician and was firmly told it was hospital policy that the doctor has to be within the St. John's umbrella. When I called this office I was told I couldn't bring my son there because he already has a pediatrician. I explained that it was their hospital policy to bring him there. I was told again that I couldn't see a doctor there. At this point I started to get upset as my son has been sick for so long and it's taken months to get this surgery scheduled and now I'm faced with this which could derail the entire thing. When I started expressing my frustration Ashley hung up on me. She hung up on a stressed, worried, sleep deprived mother just trying to get her son the care he needs. The lack of empathy as well as the lack of communication between the hospital and the doctor's office was not ok. I would never bring my child here and was thankfully accepted at the playa vista location.
