Only one person dealing with customers taking money for softplay and orders for food all at once, hence the long queues.
    Paul E.

I too want this restaurant to survive and prosper as it is different and offers local mums a soft play facility. I read the previous review and others on other sites and all seem to moan about the food. I wish I had got that far. Despite checking the website before we left home, I was confused when I walked into the restaurant as there was a long queue but almost noone sitting at any tables. I dutifully waited in line for about ten minutes before asking the owner for the childrens' menu. The normal menus were available by the queue. The owner told me that there was no restaurant food until after 5pm and that the queue was for the softplay only. I asked her how I, as a customer, would know this as there were no signs or anything to stop you queuing needlessly. She replied "Its on the website". Well, firstly, I wasn't on my computer I was standing in her restaurant where you might reasonably expect some information - especially if its going to operate differently to the normal model of come in and be seated. Secondly, I had been on the website and told her that I didn't see any indication of the normal menu only being available post 5pm. If you go there, you will see a few pages filled with text, like an essay. I challenge any customer to find the opening times for example. So, I took my family elsewhere, not having tried the food. I did ask the owner if she had read the online reviews and she replied that she had but they had only been running a few months - I guess that is true but I'm not sure how many people would give the place a second chance. Overall, I was surprised that the owner herself would want a load of customers queuing with only one person taking the orders and that she didn't pitch in to help reduce the queue. Also, why she chose the inefficient method of taking food orders and payment for the soft play at the same time and place. Surely, let the parents pay for the soft play separately from ordering food. Fingers crossed that the customer communications and logistics for ordering get sorted before the customers dry up.

Not entirely sure if it's thanks to keen local competition, but their new weekday menu is proving…read moreto be a cost effective lunch option. Side dishes include a generous serving of what appears to be home prepared kimchi, half-sliced marinated boiled eggs, kimchi raddish, bean sprouts and pan-fried bean cake. The blood sausage soup is also swimming with chunks of pork belly and kidney with perilla seeds, chopped spring onions, chives and chili a' plenty. Their kimchi chigae is spicy in the right places, perfect for curbing a creeping cold. At 5.99 a pop, it's certainly a deal. Now, if they can just keep that malfunctioning property alarm under control. I'd swing by again the next time I find myself in Surrey.

The owner is really hands on. He was very patient in teaching us how to do the bbq and was willing to do it for us if we wanted to! It is a great experience as it lets you have fun without burning your face. The meat were easy to get off of the skewers as the there is a cleverly designed tray holder that makes the job easy. They have just rennovated the restaurant and it is more inviting than the previous restaurant. They have also added new appetizers in the usual range of £5 upwards. BBQ we had was just £49 which included I think 10 skewers. Also includes side dish of vegestables and could easily feed a group of 3 to 4. You just have to order rice on too which was a few quid. Overall, I prefer the real charcola over the butane gas fuelled BbQ in New Malden. Give it a try folks!

Bottom-line: while maybe average to its American traditional bbq counterpart , Boudean's is…read moreprobably as good as it gets for London. Ordered the half baby back ribs, fries and slaw. Baby back ribs: not necessarily fall of the bone type of ribs, but if you give it a good tug , some of the meats will slide off its axis. I enjoyed it for what it's worth. Obviously, the smoker is limited in scope , so I'm not expecting Texas style quality. Was a little chewy in some places, but also tender in others. Had a preference for the chiptole bbq sauce rather than the hickory. Fries were mostly good (minus the tiny bits). So close to the meats, the fries absorbed some of the smokiness flavor. Slaw: low-point of the bbq. They used way, way, too much dressing. Like it was flooded. Also the cabbage wasn't cut finely, but presented as whole chunk slices. Would definitely not recommend this one. Overall minus the slaw, I enjoyed Bodean's

Sticky fingers were not my favorite so may avoid that appetizer choice. Dined with a group of 35 and they were able to accommodate us in their basement dining area with a call ahead. We shared a couple of the starters; the pretzels with dough balls and the brisket hash. Both were very good, preferred the pretzel dish over the brisket. The brisket is in more of a gravy than BBQ sauce, and has a slightly bitter, smokey taste to it. I would prefer a more sweeter sauce, like the pulled pork is in. The chicken wings are tossed in a hot sauce, though you can request BBQ. We tried an array of their meats, our favourite being the pulled pork. I was disappointed in the brisket as it's no longer sliced but pulled now and as stated the sauce needs working on. The platters are huge and best suited for sharing. Their desserts are really good too, and again ideal for sharing. I had the brownie stack which was amazing. We really enjoyed our meal, however it is on the expensive side. Starters and desserts are £7+, mains start from around £13, £20+ for platters. We ended up taking some of our meat to go. They also have a coke freestyle machine so drinks are unlimited!! They have a selection of steaks I'd like to try next time I'm there. Enjoyable meal. Our server was very friendly but service is a little on the slow side.
