Ordered the TaxiDriver and The Don for our meal. The former was good as it had smoked chili mayo, Cajun relish, and onion ring topper. The latter was unbalanced; Gorgonzola overpowered every other ingredient in the burger like baconnaise and onion jam (could not finish). Sides came separate. We had the Skin-On Fries (probably the highlight of the meal) and GBK Coleslaw. They have a variety of dipping sauces--we got the Barbecue & Rosemary Aioli. However, the BBQ seemed more like a chunky chutney an the aioli was a tad watered down (neither worth the hefty extra charge). GBK's efforts to create an innovative menu with different ingredients are noted, but the impression was uninspiring. Our main issue was the price point. For a "gourmet" place that isn't a full service restaurant (order at counter), the bill totals were too much. 2.25 stars.

Remember your table number when placing the order. This is not your regular burger place, so expect some innovative combinations. I had the salvador - pork burger and it was quite yummy - the garlic mayonnaise in the burger was very good. Loved the sweet potato fries and the grilled corn. But the absolute winner was the nutella shake. Do download the GBK app. It offers a lot of rewards and is one of the few worthwhile to download restaurant apps. Service is extremely friendly without being overbearing. Definite revisit on the cards.

The restaurant was very busy. We were seated far in the back. It's very dark and moody inside with lots of tropical plants. Grilled polenta with whipped salted cod and anchovy - was my least favorite dish. I wanted to love this, but it was missing something - maybe needed something with a little crunch? Wood roasted rainbow carrots - the sauce was delicious and carrots were nicely charred! Chargrilled hispi cabbage - our favorite dish! Sounds so simple but the flavor was so good!!! Ravioli - very rich and decadent end to the meal.

The server was not professional and didn't seem that attentive to us and had us order dishes one at a time that didn't make sense coming out alone. She would wipe the counter in front of us since we sat at bar with food falling on our laps and the food took forever to come out. The chef Fabio and his staff who is amazing noticed how hungry we were and long we waited made us special dishes because of the wait. Fabio saved the day to make up for lackluster service. Thank god we sat at counter so he could see us waiting longer than normal.

If you are an expat, this will be your new comfort food craving after your first visit. Our group ordered three different sandwiches and shared many brunch dishes and they were all amazing. They serve their buttermilk pancakes topped with bacon and a generous helping of syrup on the side. The eggs benny came with fries and was delish as well. All of their amazing sandwiches come with an individual pickle that is made in-house. We shared a Chicken Cobb (Corn fed chicken, smoked bacon, avocado, blue cheese, boiled egg, tomato, red onion, lettuce & mayo on 3 slices of toasted white), The Toronto (Slow roasted topside beef, melted English cheddar, leaf lettuce, tomato, pickled hot peppers, red onion, & horseradish mayo on toasted sourdough), and The Medley (Roasted turkey breast, smoked ham, bacon, melted cheddar & emmental, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickled hot peppers & basil mayo on toasted sourdough). This place is locally owned and the vibe is very laid back. We went around 12:30 on a Saturday and this place was packed. They take reservations so you might want to make some (we did). Overall, I will definitely come back.

There are few things in the world less appetizing to me than two pieces of pre-packaged soggy bread with one slice of ham drowning in a gallon of mayo that's been sitting on the Pret a Manger shelf all day. In America you only see stuff like that at gas stations, and even there they hold the mayo. In England, they put so much mayo on those sandwiches that it actually gets listed as an ingredient. So whereas you'd have a chicken sandwich with mayo in America, in England it becomes a chicken mayo sandwich. That's just wrong. And nasty. Enter Pickle & Rye. If this place were in Soho or South Kensington then there'd be lines out the door. True Mortlake is in London's upscale southwest and thus home to several affluent American ex-pats, but I feel like that this gem of a sandwich place is missing out on a golden opportunity by being stuck out in the middle of nowhere. It was a trek to get to even from Fulham, and I've got plenty of friends who think that Fulham is enough of a trek already. Or at least that's their excuse for never coming to visit us. This place would merely have to not completely suck to be one of the best sandwich places in London, but it's really taken the art of the sandwich to another level. The owner / head sandwich dude is a culinary school graduate who roasts all their meats, cures his own corned beef (known around these parts as salt beef), makes his own dill pickles (which are easily the best that I've ever had in England) and Russian dressing, with the result being the finest reuben this side of the Atlantic. I will gladly return to the middle of nowhere for another one.

Both floors have independent bars, the downstairs one the more elaborate of the two. This is one of those places good for private or company parties, large family gatherings or even meetings which they have private rooms for. A short walk away from Shepherd's Bush station, the Bull's interior is a modern interpretation of the traditional British pub. It's a familiar place, easy to get comfortable in. There is a terrace on the ground floor and a balcony higher up, nice for when the weather allows. Head chef Tenzin and his team use British ingredients extensively throughout the menu, itself filled with British classics such as Fish & Chips, Sausage & Mash, Pies, etc. That said, we felt like returning our fish and chips and our beer-battered onion rings as both were nightmarishly soggy. There was obviously something wrong with their fryer on the day we visited. One of the waitresses confirmed that we weren't the only ones to experience this. If that really was the case, then I think it's shameful that they continued to serve something knowing it was flawed. Thankfully, the burger was better. To our surprise service was really good, friendly even. Coming from Dubai where service is everything, we have found restaurants in London, especially pubs, wanting in that department. This place was different, the blond bartender with a brown beard actually smiled at me once and opened a tab without asking for my credit card - wow! The rest of the staff were equally nice. I'd probably go back to The Bull for the ambience and to have a drink but I don't think I'd eat there again. Hey! Things were looking promising when I saw a vegetarian breakfast offered in lieu of the traditional English breakfast. I was drawn to the dish because it offered spinach and hash browns in lieu of all the meat in its partner dish. My friend ordered the regular Full English and her dish came out well before mine. I waited roughly 10-15 minutes longer for something that would appear to take less cook time. The plate came out and I noticed there was no spinach. I was not offered a choice as a substitute nor made aware of the situation. Long story short I ended up ordering the Full English and they forgot my black pudding. Waited additional time for that as well. Then they forgot I asked for the bill. Overall, I would not recommend it, especially if you're on a time schedule and multiple mishaps occurred. No cash accepted and 12.5% service charge automatically added to the final bill with the usual VAT.
