this is probably one of the worst restaurants I have been to in Hamilton ... I'm sorry, but Eastside Marios is 10 times better. The waitress didn't even know if they had olive oil and then a senior waitress came out and said "oh she didn't know." The salad was very similar to the salad in a bag that you would get at No Frills, pasta was VERY basic... And the bruschetta looks like a five-year-old did it, it was absolutely brutal I wish I could get my money back, but I wanted to get out of there because there was a teenage couple beside me with their screaming baby and I needed to leave. never again read more

Amazing place! Head down some stairs and you're in for a delicious throw back dinner! Huge portions of deliciousness! I got the gnocchi with meatballs - real homemade meatballs in an authentic sauce! Tiny restaurant just off of James St in Hamilton. The food here was excellent. I had the gnocchi with marinara, my daughter had the Penne with marinara, and my husband had the pepperoni pizza. The sauce on the gnocchi was so delicious. My husband said he really enjoyed the pizza. My daughter kept telling us the Penne was "really yummy". We enjoyed the service here as well. Very friendly. Our bill including an 8 oz glass of wine and a beer was $60. Very happy with our visit tonight. read more

Generous portions, freshly made pasta, amazing sauce. CHEAP! The beer here is terrible. Coors or Bud Light on draught, and a few bottles of similar variety. Their pizzas are great, but the wings leave a bit to be desired. Service can be a bit cranky, but seeing as the room is so small and the din is dark and crampy, I can see why. read more

We came here because the other restaurants in the area had a long line. The place is quite small and very friendly. People seated seemed like regulars. I like the that the music wasn't too loud and i was a good place for conversation. We split a pitcher of sangria and I had the gnocchi with meatballs. The pasta came with a salad and bread and the portions were huge. The food wasn't anything special. I found that the sauce was quite watery. I gave it 3 stars because the ratio of meatball:pasta was a bit high on the pasta side. read more

We were disappointed ... my order of lasagna was not hot enough, my sister ordered spag bolognese with a side of meat balls - it came with tomato sauce and our server didn't care/didn't listen. The salads were average. There was an error on our bill so do double check. This place is busy and it gets noisy. Need reservations for dinner. In our opinion Hamilton has much better restaurants to choose from. read more

Love this place. Great service and even better food. They make you feel like you're at home. All the food is made in house and one of the best lasagnas I've eaten. I've tried a few items and loved them all. The French onion soup is so tasty. The garlic cheese bread is delicious. The meat balls are amazing. I haven't had something i don't like there. Have been meaning to come to this place for a while now but had been deterred in the past by people telling me that it wasn't that great or that food was really average. Then, I had the opportunity to try some of the pizza when our supervisor ordered some take-out while we were on call. She said (and she's a longtime resident of Hamilton) that Bronzie's had some of the tomato sauce that she had ever tasted. Hence, I was able to convince a bunch of my friends to come here. Between the four of us, we got one each of the specialty pizzas, the "Under the Tuscan Sun", which they say is their take on a Margherita but is actually more like a Mediterranean, and the Goodfellas, which is their take of a Meat Lovers. We also got a plate of gnocchi to share. The pizza is loaded with cheese and crust is quite good too. Having had the "Under the Tuscan Sun" twice, it is definitely very, very good, highly recommend. The Goodfellas is not too bad but because the sauce is really salty, the flavor profile is quite unidimensional. The gnocchi was too much on the chewy, almost hard side. This place is located just below street level and you might miss it, but definitely worth checking out. read more

We used to love this place, but every time we go it gets worse and worse. We could barely get service today because the waitresses were too busy talking to other patrons. We ended up giving up and taking our food to go. They also give regular customers preference - a table that walked in after us was consistently served first. The food itself isn't bad. The pastas are good, but so hastily drained that often you find a puddle in your bowl, which washes off the sauce. The salad and homemade Italian dressing are great, as is the bread. The salad usually comes with these amazing, fresh tomato slices but today we noticed all of the regulars were getting them, but not us. There's also this strange man, probably in his 30s, who might be an employee but he actually just spends all his time wandering around, talking to patrons. I was clearly in the middle of a date and he came up and started flirting with me, insulting my food choices and generally being a nuisance. I was polite to him at first but after the first few times he interrupted my order, I lost my patience, at which point he insulted me, then stormed off in a huff. We'll be picking up pizza to go in the future, should we ever decide to give Bronzie's another chance. read more

So, this place looks like a sketchy dive bar (which it may be). BUT, the pizza is pretty legit. It is priced well proportionate to the size of the pizzas. The sauce is more new york style with seasonings. The cheese is legit mozzarella and is like heaven pulling a slice out of the pie. It is always said that if you want to find a good place to eat, just ask the locals. Well that doesn't always hold true. David, my husband had been in TD Bank opening an account and inquired about where to eat around there. We were newly local, living right up the street from Bronzie's Place ourselves and had no clue it was there. He was directed to Bronzie's and he later told me about it. So two nights later we found ourselves making our way down some very steep stairs into the very tight space. We stopped by the door and the man behind the bar told us someone would be with us soon and offered to fix us drinks. We both got some wine, they have a good choice of beers too. A cheerful woman came to seat us and we followed her through the chairs and tables like starving lab rats to the table. I took notice of the food others were eating and the fact that everyone seemed happy, good wine and beer will do that for you. I ordered the lasagna and so did David, so sorry we didn't get to review something else. The lasagna was superb, buttery and none of that low fat ricotta or poor quality mozzarella. The tomato sauce was divine being the just right balance of brightness and basil and oregano and thyme. There were many layers of meat and ricotta, not always easy to do. Our service was seamless despite the need for our server to wear skates. Okay she wasn't on skates, but it didn't keep me from imagining how she would accomplish that as well as she did the tight dinning room circumstances. I have a bit of a sweet tooth that is more like a rabbits tooth in that my sweet tooth grows constantly, along with my waist, so I had to have dessert. The lady on wheels suggested the cheese cake and who am I not to take the advice of someone who can stand on a mobile device? The cheese cake was shared with David begrudgingly , it was that big, he liked it too. It was smooth, made of ricotta, and had that rich creamy texture and flavor one wants. All told we spent around 30.00 dollars and for food that tastes like homemade I would have spent a lot more. But let's just keep this all to ourselves, I mean they only have so much seating. read more

My boyfriend and I went to Bronzie's on a Thursday night. We both have been their prior, however, we never has such a bad experience. When we get to the restaurant it was pretty busy but there were a few tables that were opening up. Both waitresses (2) walked by us multiple times and did not say anything to us. Eventually, after being there for over 5-10 minutes, a waitress came over and pointed out a table that was empty but they just need to clean it up and we would be able to get seated shortly. As we were about to sit down, a couple came in behind us and had a reservation and the waitress ended up giving them the table they promised us, right in front of us even though there was a table that was in the process of leaving. After we were finally seated another 5-10 minutes later, it took another 15-20 minutes for a waitress to get our drink order, where we just ended up ordering everything, 2 waters and 2 pastas (that came with salad and bread). After another 20-30 minutes, we still did not receive our waters so another waitress ended up coming by and asking us again about what we ordered and brought us 2 plastic bottles of water (at a restaurant!!!). About 50 minutes- 1hr later, we got our pastas without being brought the salads as an appetizer. The waitress forgot and said she can pack them instead for us to take home, but we were insistent on eating our salads in the restaurant. I also had to ask her for our bread, and cheese to put on the pastas (which were both not brought until we pretty much finished our meals). The waitresses clearly favoured other tables over ours and it was pretty evident that they did not care about giving us good service at all (as we had to always wave down the waitresses to get us different items and tell us what they forgot at our table). This was by far the worst service I have ever received at a restaurant. I would not recommend going if you like getting good service!! read more

Hamiltons best kept secret huge portions of quality food the pizza is amazing but the chicken parm is the way to go. i have NEVER left without leftovers. even when me and my friend go in we split a chicken parm (they put it on two seperate plates for us) we still both leave with leftovers. the house salad dressing is also amazing read more

I cannot believe no one wrote about Bronzie's Place yet! This is place is a little hole in the wall on James St just down from St Joes hospital. For homestyle Italian food at a great price, this place cannot be beat. The old guys in the kitchen are comical to watch...crusty dudes who can book up a good authentic meal. I would like to say that Bronzies was horrible and you shouldn't go, just so that it doesn't get busy and I have to share it with other people, but that would be a crime as its my new favourite restaurant! We ordered a medium Goodfellas pizza and the chicken parm dinner to split. Typically the pasta dinner comes with 1 salad and order of bread but our server was kind enough to to bring us both a salad and bread. Then when the food arrived we thought we had died and gone to heaven. The medium pizza was similar to other restaurants' large size and was so fresh and delicious! Hands down best pizza I've ever had. The chicken parm was just as delicious, paired with a home made sauce that could easily beat out any Grandma's. Food aside, the atmosphere and staff alone are worth coming back for - I would return even if I just ordered the bread. 100% would recommend, I will be returning very shortly! read more
