I loved the food and service at Bardo. I recently went with a friend and we had a great time at lunch. I loved the starter bread!

I visited today with my partner, our server was lovely and the place was nice, but my pizza came out with raw dough. I sent it back for another one that came out raw as well, we had the second one put back in the oven and took it to go. I should have looked more closely at it before leaving, because when I was home I found the crust was still raw and inedible. It was the first and only time I have ever had to send food back at a restaurant. Our server relayed a message from the kitchen suggesting we request our pizza "well done" in future. read more

Waited for 30 minutes for drip. No refills. Pizza were loaded. Not traditional or anywhere close. Kitchen sink/ was literal kitchen sink. Only thing missing was kitchen sink. Loaded fries were loaded. It was better than the pizza. The itself was casual. Came here during a heavy rain so no patio. It wasn't busy but not empty. Bread / bakery part looks good though. Over priced and underwhelming! Food is bland and boring menu. So many better options in the area

I regret to say that my recent experience at Bardo on Locke Street was profoundly disappointing. Our reservation was made a week in advance for a party of five to celebrate a birthday, an occasion we anticipated would be marked by a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere. Unfortunately, Bardo failed to deliver even the basic expectation of comfort. And no mention of the birthday either. Despite booking well in advance, we were seated at a table designed for four, awkwardly squeezed into the restaurant's busiest and most chaotic area--right beside the cashier and bar. This high-traffic zone turned our evening into an exercise in patience. My feet were stepped on multiple times, and my chair was repeatedly bumped as staff and patrons navigated the cramped space. The seating arrangement was so poorly planned that my wife and her mother had to alternate eating their meals, as they were physically unable to sit comfortably without colliding. This was not a matter of service missteps that could be remedied with charm or effort; the issue was fundamental and entirely avoidable had there been proper attention to reservations and spatial planning. Such an uncomfortable setup is unacceptable, especially for a restaurant that presumably prides itself on offering a pleasant dining experience. I cannot recommend Bardo and will not return. Celebratory occasions deserve thoughtful accommodation, and Bardo demonstrated a clear lack of consideration for its guests. If you're seeking a restaurant that values its patrons, I suggest looking elsewhere. Update: I sent a note to the business. They went into great detail about how they investigated, etc. I think I'll give them another shot soon or at least send my wife and her mother with my credit card. Fantastic little spot in Hamilton! We were very lucky to stumble across this place on a quieter night, so we got a table right away. There's Street parking available and a paid parking lot right next to the restaurant. Service was fairly quick between sitting down, ordering, and getting our food. Brussels are a must order. I enjoyed them so much!!! My boyfriend ordered the burger which was fantastic. Full of juicy flavor and well seasoned. I ordered the bee sting pizza. It's everything I want in a pizza! I got the large thinking we wanted to extra for lunch and omg it was huge!! If you don't plan to take any home, just get the personal size. It's more than enough. It was seriously delicious and I'm craving it as I type this review. We were too stuffed for dessert unfortunately but it looked like the tables next to us enjoyed theirs. Love the decor here too! We gave Bardo another try after our disappointing visit last year. This time was worse. We went with family who ordered a burger. When it came, no one noticed the long hair that was cooked in it. The restaurant felt horrible, but it shouldn't have made it out of the kitchen. Even though they comped our meal, none of us will be going back. The lack of quality control is disturbing. This place was amazing!! My coworkers and I booked a table for 5 on Tuesday night and was greeted right away. The interior looked very modern yet cozy with dimmed lighting. Our server was really nice and took her time to explain the specials for the day which included loaded fries with feta on top (I completely missed all the other ingredients as soon as I heard feta). For appetizers we ordered the loaded fries and I got the umami burger as my main meal with a side salad. The fries were great! Light with enough sauce and toppings to add flavor. The umami burger was outstanding! It had this wonderful sweet sauce with the mushrooms and the patty and I couldn't get enough. Even the side salad tasted great. I will definitely come back to get that burger again! My coworkers all got pizza and they loved their dishes all well. Overall, a place you should check out when you're in Hamilton. read more

Love the concept of local ingredients and simple rustic preparation. We were there on a weekday for a late dinner and we were seated immediately without a reservation. The interior is homey and cozy which was really comfortable. We shared a small pizza ($17). The dough was a little too heavy for my liking but good enough to fill us up. I visited here with my family and the food was SO good! I got the Roast Mushroom Sandwich w/ Roast Beet & Carrot Side Salad and it was delicious; the bread was so fluffy and I loved the garlic aioli! What a great meal we had, and the service was friendly and prompt. Although, prices are a bit on the high side, $32 for an XLarge pizza, $8.50 for a beer. However, the pizza was amazing with thick bacon, tasty sausage, and fresh tasting tomato sauce, amongst spicy peppers and pepperoni. Really enjoyed the Winter Greens salad. I have been eating quite a few fried foods and wanted to get in more vegetables. This was the perfect light dinner with friends. The salad is a mix of sweet and crunchy endive, watercress, fried goat cheese that gives the dish the richness it needs, sweet pecans, and bitter red cabbage (may be too bitter for some people). I really enjoyed the dish and would come back again. My friend got the quinoa/arugula/feta salad which was also quite nice. I only wish that they would serve a piece of bread to make the salad more complete. We tried the apple pie and ice cream for dessert. This was very sweet and I would not recommend it. The lemon bars looked very promising and I may try them next time. Our server was very nice and friendly, and the general atmosphere of the restaurant is warm and pleasant. First time coming here - stopped by after a nice drive from Niagara falls. Heard so much about their pizza and burgers, so I have got to try it! Since covid, they've limited seating area but luckily we got here for 4pm... So there's no one here but us :) we have weird eating times. We were greeted by such friendly staff. They were happy and patient with us. Her recommendations were: pizza- bee sting, hulk, apple and bacon, and meat mountain. The summer specials now is millennium falcon, summer loving and the Bianca. We got the Umami burger (since I see everyone talking about it) and OH MY GOODNESS you must try this burger!!!! It was juicy and smelled so good. The mix of pork and beef just made it more awesome. We decided to get the arugula and fennel salad on the side - super refreshing! We also ordered an 18" pizza (which if you order this large, you can mix and match with a half and half choice of toppings). We got half of The Hulk and the other half Bee Sting. We found that the Hulk is too much flavor at the same time. Olives and bacon and hot sauce was just too many flavors in my mouth. But otherwise still a very well made pizza. The Bee Sting was by far the best pizza I've ever had. They topped it with spicy salami, lemon ricotta, basil and honey! The honey really pulled in the flavors and balanced out the spicy aspect of this piece. Id come back to try another pizza for sure. Maybe not an 18" since there's only 2 of us... LOVE LOVE LOVE! Hands down the best brunch/lunch place in Hamilton! I'm so glad I went with three other hungry individuals, as I was able to taste a bit of their dishes as well. Our table ordered: 1) Bread + spread (beet hummus, truffle dip, ricotta cheese, spiced cinnamon apple) - SO good.. the variety of bread they gave us had the perfect mixture of crusty and soft. A must order! 2) Umami burger - this was so addicting! I had to try really hard to stop myself from stealing this dish from my friend - it comes with a side of soup, salad, or fries. The skinny fries were extra crispy and the portion sizes were very generous, as you can see from the picture. 3) Princess Pickle pizza (small) - delicious ! I believe it had an alfredo cream sauce base, with chicken, dill, and pickle on top. 4) Mac and cheese - delicious as well! However, the taste did get repetitive after awhile and slightly on the saltier side 5) Salad + soup combo - their daily soup of the day was Autumn Vegetable (gluten free and vegan) which was hearty and fragrant; the kale caesar salad was fresh and enjoyable. Dropped by Hamilton the other day and wanted to try this place out! It's a pretty popular place, we waited around 30 minutes for a table on a Saturday night. I believe they aim for seasonal recipes and change their pizza and loaded fries of the day! We ordered an 11" pizza and loaded fries. The pizza was amazing, it's the truffle mushroom one. The umami burger was okay, it has a sweet sauce flavour. My favourite was definitely the loaded fries, it had roasted garlic, cheese, parsley, it tasted homemade and was super crispy which I love!! The waitress and host was sooooo friendly!! The staff here are so nice and accommodating. We were sharing our food and our waitress split up the burger for us without even asking!! She was so nice. Overall, I would come back to try other pizza's and the loaded fries. I think I would give the burger a pass next time. We had to wait around 15-20 mins for a table but it was definitely worth the wait. The portions are generous and the food was tasty. The service was good and the waitress was attentive. She recommended a pizza as that is what they are known for. We shared the Umami Burger with loaded fries (their spin on gourmet poutine which changes daily/weekly), a small MVpizza (special which also changes daily or weekly) and a housemade lemonade. So GOOD!! This place was a last minute pick after a long day at Niagara Falls. Staying in Hamilton where great food doesn't seem to be prevalent. This restaurant was perfect. I'm a pretty big fan of Earth to Table. It's a little pricey, but the ingredients are fresh, locally sourced, and the food is made to order. I've tried so many things and have not been disappointed. There are always daily specials including soups, poutines, pizzas, drinks, and other surprises. You can order from the menu or there is also a bread bar area with sweets, pastries, and pizzas you can order by the slice. I probably love their fresh salads the most. The Buddha bowl was a fun dish to eat as well - although I encourage you to dig around for flavors hiding inside and underneath all of the elements. The meat and fish I've tried has been well cooked and spiced. Service is also consistently good. Sometimes there can be a bit of a wait for your table or food, but it's worth it. read more

This is one of my favourite spots in Hamilton, this location is super cute and homey. I have gone here a few times with my friends/boyfriend and enjoyed it every time. Their menu is pretty big, theres a huge selection. The portions are big and therefore you really do not need to order a lot. Every time I have gone I had to pack things to go because we ordered too much. The appetizers are so yummy, for example we had the creamy hummus and it was so big!! I have never been to a restaurant that literally has more hummus then pita bread. We took it to go and were so satisfied. It's the best hummus I've ever had in my entire life. I would legit use this place for catering for my wedding, birthday and every event in my life. The service is amazing, always very knowledgeable and kind people. It does get busy, therefore I would either make a reservation or be open to the fact that you maybe waiting for 30-40 minutes. WHICH IS TOTALLY WORTH THE WAIT. On one occasion I had the quinoa veggie burger and it was the bomb. com. This particular time I had one of their special Kale salad with feta cheese, strawberries, pecans and an edible flower on top - it was divine, and super filling. Bread Bar is an iconic spot in Hamilton, so we decided to drop by for dinner after our visit to Dundas Peak. It was already full at 6pm on a Friday evening and we had to wait 25mins before they called to let us know that our table is ready. We tried reserving beforehand but they only book groups of 6 or more. Not too much of an issue though as Locke St has plenty of stores and cafes nearby to keep us occupied while we wait. We ordered the bread plate to start, followed by the Bee Sting pizza and Apple & Bacon pizza. The bread plate came with 5 pieces of bread that's accompanied by peach mostarda, roasted squash, brown butter, and hummus. The Bee Sting pizza had a red sauce, topped with mozzarella, spicy salami, basil, honey, chili oil. The Apple & Bacon one had a white sauce, topped with mozzarella, smoked cheddar, caramelized onions, fried sage, and ofc, apple slices & bacon. I liked that the bread plate had an assortment of bread, each with its own character. It was fun pairing them with the different sides. My favorite though was the toasted one with hummus on top; crunchy on the outside, yet still soft & chewy on the inside. The hummus was also fresh & creamy, which gave it a nice contrast in texture. The brown butter was aromatic as well. The roasted squash was okay, and I wasn't a fan of the peach mostarda; the latter had a slightly sweet pungent taste to it. As for the pizza, I enjoyed the Apple & Bacon more so than the Bee Sting. I appreciate the latter's play on sweet, spicy, and savory, but I felt that the overall flavor profile was just okay. The spicy salami stood out more than anything. In contrast, the Apple & Bacon was better at balancing its flavors, with sweetness from the apple slices & onions and savoriness from the bacon & smoked cheddar. I also liked that the pizzas were stone-baked, resulting in a crispier crust but still soft & chewy in the middle. However, at $17 per pizza (small), the price is quite steep for what it is. Yes, I had a nice meal, but I wasn't overly impressed with the flavors either. Service was outstanding. 3.5 stars. read more

Hi Yelpers! Went to visit Hamilton just for this.. I've been wanting to try it out. So the location I went to is the one near Jackson Square. Parking is minimal. Easily accessible on foot if you plan to use transit. The pizza I tried was the Apple and Bacon which consisted of red sauce, mozzarella, bacon, fennel sausage, pepperoni, roasted red peppers and hot pickled peppers. I loved it! The bacon was warm and a bit fatty with the melted mozzarella cheese... so good. Though the crust was disappointing, it lacked taste. This pizza was another "pizza" based solely on toppings. Though a bit pricey for the size..... I also tried their cheesecake which is called the dark chocolate hazelnut cheesecake. It was delicious. I'd def order again. See you later Yelpers read more

I always come here when I'm in Hamilton. It's casual, friendly, and the food is always changing and yummy. They have a daily soup, pizza, and poutine, so be sure to check those out. Other favourites are the mac and cheese, burger, or magherita pizza. They always use really fresh ingredients. You can also get stuff to go and there's a great selection of baked goods. On my last visit (a weeknight), our server even gave my DC and I each a free loaf of bread since it was the end of the day and they needed to get rid of it. Amazing!! The drinks selection includes $10 cocktails and a range of wines, many from Ontario. Try to come off peak hours because they do not take reservations (except for groups over 6 people). read more
