My in laws moved into Desert Springs 6 months ago. There have been THREE managers in that time. I'm told they've had a dozen managers in four years. One of the biggest complaints is with meals. They are consistently understaffed and have a lot of turnover. We stayed over the holidays and it wasn't uncommon to sit for over an hour before getting a very mediocre meal. I always look forward to their meals. I think they are moderately priced for guests. There is always a nice selection of menu items, well prepared and tasty. The servers, usually young ladies, are very pleasant. In terms of wait time, I've never waited longer than a few minutes to place an order or to be served. It may help to get a feel for the rhythm of the place, like anywhere. For example, they don't take orders and serve from everywhere in the dining room at once, like a restaurant, because it's too inefficient. They take orders and serve from one end of the dining room to the other using carts, as you might expect. So it helps to understand which end of the dining room is being served first for a given meal; the schedule varies but it is patterned. Take away: good idea to think through where in the room you want to sit. Since the serving pattern isn't kept secret, you'll also need to arrive early enough to sit there. Desert Springs is a nice facility. I understand that they have had high turnover for managerial staff. I don't see effects of it upon what residents experience. My in-laws love it there.

At every step of her journey, she has received exceptional care and abounding compassion. When she moved to assisted living, one of the associates found out that she is a pianist. That associate then donated a keyboard for her to play on headphones in her apartment. That's only one example of the kindness that I've seen displayed over and over. They have gone above and beyond at every turn. My gratitude goes out to everyone at the building. Highly recommended.

We often go visit her and eat at one of the dining rooms. Just after Christmas we had a family lunch with about 8 of us. Our server was very friendly. The food is very good. I've enjoyed their burgers, salads and salmon. Sometimes they are a bit short on staff and things take a bit longer but if you know that going in, it's not an issue. I am so happy my mom has found a place she loves to live at and a place we're we fell good about and know she is in great care.

They let this go on for over a year and a half. There is no security and lots of incidents of theft going on continually with no arrests. This will never be a place for my loved one to reside. Bad management, HR and company overall. Choose wisely.

Caregiving is one of the hardest jobs and not something everyone can do. They demonstrated everyday how dedicated and caring they are to their patients.
