And CONSTANT (and dishonest) nickel and diming to death. One month they insisted that my elderly parent living there needed a "2-3 person assist" to get around. That was fine. The next month, they insisted that my parent, somehow (with the same alleged 2-3 person assist) kept trying to escape and needed to go into infinitely more expensive memory care, so I asked them why the 2-3 people assisting them were helping my parent to escape? And could they please stop that? Magically after that, my elderly parent didn't need a 2-3 person assist anymore and no longer needed memory care. It was a "miracle!"

Having worked in just about every medical discipline, including an SNF, and can identify issues. I did find one. Our friend has a nice 1 bedroom apartment which included a large entryway with a kitchenette. There was enough room for a small dining table and chairs. Additionally, there was a separate living room and separate bedroom. Their check in process takes a couple of minutes and each visitor must register Our friend likes the staff and says the food is pretty good. The bottom line is: I highly recommend this place!!

They know the Medicare/Medicaid systems and have access to everything from dental to housekeeping from physical therapy to getting you new shoes. The collection of this knowledge is hard to beat, but when you need (and I stress need) help their phones ALL go to voicemail that doesn't get you a call back. After this many years I've collected 21 phone numbers around the centers (Lakewood to Aurora). I get three numbers that actually answer and no voicemail messages returned. It doesn't take anything to hear a message and call back. Seriously. I am so persistent with my calling that I'm labeled a trouble maker. But when you need a prescription refilled or an appointment with a doctor, should you (don't you deserve) get someone to call back saying that their working on it? Really, sometimes I'd settle for the janitor to call and just say hi. If you're thinking on joining InnovAge, write me and I'd be happy to tell you who you can trust and I'll give you phone numbers I've collected, even personal cell phones, that you'll need to get help.

Unfortunately, that was not the case. After multiple phone calls and emails, I received no response. I eventually realized that their primary focus seemed to be enrolling people into their healthcare system and making money rather than helping families navigate Medicaid assistance. I felt like my questions about Medicaid is why I got no response. This was not only a complete waste of time, but also an emotionally difficult experience. I truly believed there was a path to getting my 95-year-old mother into an assisted living community in Golden, only to find out that the assistance I was told was available wasn't actually being provided. Families facing these difficult decisions deserve clear, honest communication from the beginning. I hope Applewood improves the way they set expectations so others don't go through the same disappointment and my advice is steer clear of Innovage!!

I am an expert on Brookdale facilities and this is as good as it gets for your senior loved one. The Club has been newly remodeled and has a warm welcoming lobby. There is a small Internet Café where people signed up for computer time. My friend and I always stop in for a free cappuccino or lemonade. The grounds are nicely maintained and some rooms have spectacular views. I have eaten at "The Club" twice and both times enjoyed my meal. I did not make it for cocktail hour but there is one every Friday. You can get different levels of care from just the basics included in rent to pill management and personal care management. So, when your time comes to have to look for a place for Mom, Dad, or friend. Look at Heritage Club of Denver. And when my time comes, I am moving in as I forgot to say the chefs are from the Culinary School.

Location is nice - close to bus lines, grocery stores, a strip mall and some restaurants. Clermont is part of the Christian Living Communities. It's a fairly large campus but caters to all care levels from retirement living to skilled nursing care. Seems to be quite a few activities offered on a daily basis. Residents appear to be happy and engaging with each other. Updated Jan 2018 After touring an available room for a relative - the room itself was quite small (200 sq feet). The original building for Clermont must have been designed in the late 70s or early 80s? Either way the architect did not take window size into consideration. The studio I viewed had an approx 2'6" wide x 3'6" tall window. Newer facilities have much more ample window space as designers/architects slowly have learned that natural sunlight is important to the aging population. If you're hoping for a nice, bright and cheery room for your loved one - the rooms at this facility do not compare to other, newer, more updated facilities.

Every assisted living or memory care place seems almost the same and seemed to have the same sales pitch. I just couldn't sift through any more of it and feel confident on my own in finding a better situation for my dad. Sitting at the computer in tears scrolling through assisted living websites, I stumbled across Stacy's Helping Hands here on Yelp. I called the company and reached the owner, Pam Silverberg. It was probably one of the single best things that ever happened in this painful, complicated road of caring for my dad. Pam was warm, friendly, and interested in helping me. Before i even engaged her services, she gave so much of her time to me. She wasn't another one of the sales people in the assisted living business - she just seemed like a concerned friend. And she had a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience. We worked together for several months because I was so nervous about moving my dad. But she was patient and kept talking with me through good options. She was a fantastic sounding board. She got to know my dad's needs and made recommendations based on his needs and my concerns. She visited several facilities with me and became a good interface between me and the facility we finally chose. She was alongside us as we moved my dad and continued to interface with the facility and advocate for us in a couple of situations that arose when we moved my dad in. No one should navigate this road alone. Pam at Stacy's Helping Hands genuinely wants to help people navigate this arduous road. I feel like she's really become a friend in this whole process. If you're exhausted and nervous and overwhelmed - call Pam! Even if you don't engage her services, you will find a listening ear and undoubtedly a bit of sincere and valuable advice.
