I had been caring for my beloved 90 yo Mom for several years and finally reached a point where I…read moreknew that it would benefit us both to have some support in our home. I reached out to Shawna who arrived for an assessment within two days and set up a schedule for regular support visits. It has entirely changed our lives to have Christina's kind and efficient assistance. I had no idea how tired and careworn I had become. Why did I not call on Home Helpers a year ago? Christina arrives and immediately dives in! If I leave a wish list of tasks, she accomplishes all of them and more! If I do not, she finds things to do that I did not even recognize needed doing! I was able to take a vacation! She spent each day with Mom, reading to her, caring for her and our home. They had "spa day" and Christina did her hair and massaged and manicured her hands and feet. She helped Mom to entertain a few friends! I realized, in my absence, that the additional gift was providing Mom with a bit of autonomy. It is not an overstatement to say that the relief from daily care has bolstered our relationship. Instead of perpetual care and housework, I am available to chat and laugh and be a daughter once more! We are both living our lives in technicolor again.

I used to work here and I have some loves and some hates about this place…read more I LOVED some of the staff, when you're lucky to find the rockstars or get you or your loved one put under their care you really do receive treatment like a loved one. Then there are the few that I question why they work there at all. And if you ever get saddled with those ones I'm so very sorry. It's a cute spot, all in all staff is friendly and pretty efficient. With of course the few bad seeds that make other peoples jobs harder than they already are. I hope things have gotten better since I last worked there years ago. Even with a loved one of my own being a patient I'm sad to see there's still much room for improvement here. I will not be admitting my relatives here ever again. This isn't the first time I've had a bad experience not just as an employee but as a family member to a patient. Those few bad apples really do have more of an impact than i wish they did on the many wonderful people who work there. But the inconsistency that really doesn't make me feel like i can trust this place anymore, and it makes me sad to be honest. Wishing them the best, and i hope no one has to experience this and i truly hope they get the turn around this place needs. Especially for the amazing people there who deserve it.

I have been seeing Jenny Reeve for vertigo physical therapy in Poulsbo, and she is simply the best…read more I honestly can't imagine anyone better at this. Jenny is exceptionally knowledgeable, and you can tell this field is a true passion for her. She communicates complex information with incredible clarity and consideration, utilizing numerous hands-on and visual aids that make abstract concepts-like what's happening in the teensy-tiny ear canals inside my head-easy to understand and even fascinating. Jenny has the incredible gift of making you feel completely safe and cared for. The knowledge she has passed on to me about managing my condition (and reducing my fear that comes with it) is invaluable. She has been through vertigo herself, so she understands the experience intimately, offering practical, calming advice for things like sleeping and nausea relief. I haven't been this impressed by a doctor in years. When I tell friends and family about my sessions, l light up like a kid talking about a life-changing teacher. I went from vertigo-miserable to vertigo-fascinated! Thank you!

I would not…read morerecommend the therapist due to the fact that she didn't do much iof anything to help my child, lacked time management skills and seemed quite lazy. First off she was always late for the appointment each time that I arrived on time. I find this to be incredibly rude and disrespectful. She wasted too much time doing the same thing and needed to focus on some other things . Her attitude wasn't very pleasant and she did not show any enthusiasm at all. It looked like she was bored and had an attitude alot of the time. Unfortunately there aren't many OTs in the area that work with peds, but I would rather stay on a waiting list for a different OT than to waste my time with a bad one. I don't think my child cared for her or wanted to see her due to her weird behavior. She doesn't know how to interact with kids The front desk is not the best as far as organization or customer service.

We were surprised to find out this woman who absolutely wanted to stay at her own home barely knew she had moved when it happened. I stop by for unannounced visits and she is clean and well cared for. Yesterday I stopped in and found her with some other residents watching Christmas karaoke. Nobody in the group was well enough to sing but they were enjoying listening attendant with them was shaking a bunch of jingle bells and making it festive. The Ridge puts more effort into holiday decorations and crafts than a really good daycare.

We asked the Executive Director if they were comfortable with Hospice coming in, if and when the time would be necessary. We were told absolutely. After she had been there, approximately 3-4 days, she had a fall(she had been having many falls at her previous place) she appeared to have to broken her hip. We requested to have Hospice come in to see if she was appropriate, they agreed she was.The consensus was she was too old to take her to the hospital,so Hospice would treat her there with pain medicine and anti-anxiety medications, along with a fall pad along side the bed on the floor. On my first visit there, I found piles of dirty bed linens, dirty clothes all over the floors,a dirty plate & fork in a dresser drawer, overflowing trash cans,a mohair blanket behind the recliner chair, stuffed in the corner, dirty bathroom ,etc. And the worst of all...the fall mat was UNDER the bed !!! When I went to kiss my Mom hello ,she was in so much pain, she howled out indicating her anxiety and complete confusion. It took me a few minutes to locate an aid .Finally two aids came in, and then proceeded to transfer from her bed to a wheelchair by her UNDERWEAR.They hiked her by her underwear on each side all the up her rear end !!! The screams that were coming from my Mom were so unbelievable, that they will haunt me forever. The pain this must have caused my Mom with a broken hip ,I can't even imagine. She was absolute dead weight. They repeated this procedure 3 more times ,culminating with her nightgown and underwear hiked up her back and rear end.I demanded a nurse come in and tell me what was going on. They were not following the protocol that hospice had ordered, they had no explanation for the condition of the room and she could not explain why the aids moved my Mom in the manner that they did.She did tell me they are suppose to use a Gait Belt when moving a Resident. I was going to speak with the Director but she was gone for the day. The next day was basically a repeat except, the staff did not respond for close to 1/2 hour when the bed alarm went off and again when I pulled the bedside wall alarm cord, no one came at all !!I later discovered the alarm system had not been working for a week. My family and I came to understand that the staff there were not giving our Mom her pain medication or the anxiety med. as prescribed by Hospice, because, they felt" She wouldn't eat, her breathing may become too shallow and we know better than the doctor". No matter how many times the Hospice nurse ,Social Worker and manager went out there to educate them, they wouldn't budge. All they wanted to do was force her to eat, cause her to howl in pain and take money from her. There was one particular LPN who seem to take particular pride in telling us on a Sunday morning ," I've given her NO medicine since Friday". I learned that the Executive Director was leaving her job, which led me to believe she most likely could have cared less about anything that was happening at The Ridge. Our Mom couldn't understand due to her Alzheimers why we were doing this to her, why we were causing her to be in pain, why we were we keeping her here? We tried to see if we could move her, there was no other facility nearby to take her to. I finally had an idea about bringing in a Private Nurse. Which fortunately the Social Worker with Hospice knew of a wonderful one.She called her immediately, and she was there at The Ridge within 4 hours. Her and one other nurse were like true Angels, coming in and administrating kind ,loving care to our Mom. Bathing her, changing her when she needed it and most importantly finally releasing her of pain. The irony of this is, she did not need much of the pain medicine to be comfortable, she just needed it on a regular schedule as Hospice had written it in the first place. Our Mom passed away 2 days after we brought in the Private Nurses. My sister was there and Mom gently stopped breathing. It was a very peaceful, quiet leaving, exactly like her. She was a nurse, an OBGYN nurse. She was a wonderful Mom and person. Our biggest regret was taking her to The Ridge. I would never, ever bring someone I loved to live there. PS I would give it no stars, but you have too.
