I was going to let this go, but I can't. Our wedding was 6 months ago. I'm finally going through our photos to print some for the house, and am reminded of how horrible of an experience it was paying Brooke Aliceon to shoot our wedding. Actually, Brooke didn't even show up to our wedding, nor our engagement session. 30 minutes before our wedding...she had her HUSBAND call my wife and tell her that she had covid, and would not be making the wedding and only her husband would be taking photos. What are the odds that after you drove over 100 miles from San Diego...that while you're taking a Covid test while you're driving that it comes up positive 30 minutes before your wedding shoot, crazy right!? Her husband is a very nice guy, but is not a wedding photographer, he's a backup/2nd photographer and it showed. I'm a photographer and my grandmother is a wedding photographer and has shot 200+ weddings. We had to coach him the entire time on how to position us, which locations were better for lighting and background etc. All of our indoor photos are TERRIBLE because her husband brought one on camera flash for a huge room. Anyone who's been to a wedding knows that "professional" photographers have several flashes around the room to light the room better and minimize shadows. Our indoor photos literally look like someone used a phone and a flashlight. Brooke also didn't show up to our engagement session and sent her husband once again. Her communication through the whole process was horrible. She rarely returned voicemails or texts, so my wife had to email...and even then it would take a week or two to respond. My wife was nervous the whole process because of how unprofessional Brooke was about responding to questions and not making our engagement session. I kept reassuring her that everything would be ok and so did Brooke. Then Brooke didn't show up to the wedding, never said she was sorry and took the maximum amount of time to edit our photos. She never called and offered to get the photos to us quicker because she felt bad, said she'd send us some free prints because she felt terrible....nothing! If you were Brooke, wouldn't you feel bad? Wouldn't you send at least an email, text or call the bride and groom after, apologize and say you're going to make it right and make sure the photos come out amazing? Nope, not Brooke. She gave my wife attitude, was rude and demeaning when she emailed Brooke stating her frustration and disappointment. 75% of the photos her husband took, I wouldn't print. He did get some good ones, I'll give him that. He also has a $6k camera...we all get lucky. Brooke has some good photos online, I'll give her that too. Regardless, I would NEVER recommend Brooke Aliceon to shoot someone's wedding. The absolute worst thing you could do as a wedding photographer is call out 30 minutes before....AND HAVE YOUR HUSBAND DO IT FOR YOU! Brooke could have easily still shown up to the wedding, worn a mask and stayed away from everyone and shot outside. Especially since she had already been driving an hour and was only 30 minuets away when she found out ; ) ; ) That's what a professional would have done. Brooke isn't professional though. We knew that from the beginning, but against our better judgment we decided to not lose our deposit and go with someone else, gave her another chance (after we sent several emails voicing our concerns) just to be disappointed on our wedding day. After our wedding my wife sent an email to Brooke noting our frustrations with her and what happened. BROOKE DIDNT RESPOND FOR A MONTH! Maybe next time you should try taking a Covid test more than 30 minutes before you're suppose to shoot a wedding, so the bride and groom can plan accordingly. Had you done that, I could have brought my camera gear and had my grandmother shoot the wedding, since your husband was clueless. You told my wife a month later after you finally responded to her email that you felt sick the day before but tested negative...knowing that you were sick and not feeling well....why would you wait so long to take a test the day of our wedding? So you jumped in your car, drove an hour and took a test in your car on your way to the wedding and it came up positive...so you turned around and told your husband to take care of it? Your story doesn't add up. You had to leave at least 2hrs before the wedding to get there on time, yet you didn't tell us (or I mean your husband told us) that you have Covid only 30 minutes before our shoot. Look at these attached photos and tell me they don't look like someone took them with their phone and a flashlight. Brooke, the problem with being a "natural light" photographer...is it doesn't work so well in the dark. My experience very similar to Valerie C. After waiting 10 weeks for photos (contract says 6-8) I emailed asking where the photos were. She replied that she had trouble uploading them and would work on it. She gave me a link to the gallery that didn't work. For the next 2 weeks I called, texted, emailed, messaged and left voice mails telling her we still hadn't received a working link to the photos. We accidentally stumbled upon the photos one day by checking her portfolio daily. She still hadn't informed us they were finished or provided a link. Brooke had taken my other daughter's wedding photographs in 2013 and they were stunning. To be fair, most of these photos were of the same beautiful quality, but half of the wedding party formal photos had equipment, cars, people, sprinkler pipes, etc. in the background. I asked her if she could edit out or blur the background of those photos. It wasn't until I threatened to leave a negative review that she got back to me and told me it wasn't her job to check the backgrounds, she wouldn't edit them, and I had unrealistic expectations. Well here's what I expected: 1. I expect you to inform us and supply a working link to the photos when they are finished. 2. I expect you to pay attention to the backgrounds and edit when necessary 3. I expect you to answer my many communication attempts in a timely and professional manner. Even when you are out of town or have Covid, a simple "I'm working on it, will get back to you" would've sufficed. The total silence is frustrating and unacceptable. 9 years ago I highly recommended Brooke. Her lack of communication has forced me to write this negative review. I hope she will improve her communication skills because some of her photos turned out beautifully. read more

Update to my previous review: Yes, I did receive my pictures, WELL after 2 months of the photo session. (Session was in July & got my pictures at the end of September). I would like to point out that I have worked with numerous photographers in the past and after Brooke. A couple things I'd like to point out: 1. No one has ever taken longer then 2 weeks to send me photos or send me something until job is complete and 2. I have never been deliberately ignored after SEVERAL attempts of me reaching out (calls, texts + voicemails) just to see if anything's going on or what the delay was. A simple message would've sufficed in the waiting period. Once she did send me pictures, she went on to say "Pictures had been done a while ago and somehow not sent due to her 'assistant dropping the ball' ". In my opinion being a business owner, taking ownership of something gone wrong & communication is key! On another note, it's been well over a year since this incident and since my original review, and she is just now responding to this. As a business owner myself, I would've rectified or responded to this much sooner then A YEAR later and I also I would've never approached my former clients in such a manner threatening them to take them to court after SHE was the one that dropped the ball. I will reiterate and say my previous review was written PRIOR to receiving my photos after already paying for them. Since then, I HAVE received my photos but I do stand by my previous review by never recommending this photographer to anyone I know. If you do decide to move forward with Brooke just know, she may "drop the ball" on your session and may fail to communicate with you as her client. read more

We LOVE Brooke and Sean-- As soon as we had the Skype call with the duo, we knew they were different. They are so kind, fun and clearly has your best interest in mind. They drove all the way up to Santa Barbara to photograph our wedding, and we were so grateful to have them with us. I never look this good, but just look at my photos, and you, too will want to look like this. Not to mention, my parents were floored by the rapid turn-around. Brooke gave us our shots retouched and uploaded in a personal link in FOUR DAYS!!! That is insanely fast! My sister got married last year and my dad made a joke that it took that photographer literally 8 months (exaggerated, but still really funny). This review is very very overdue. I'm almost embarrassed that I completely forgot to write one. Brooke and Sean are amazing. I actually fell in love with their photos on Instagram. They were very professional and punctual. They are such genuine and awesome people and totally made us feel at ease. They made the whole process of my intimate wedding very easy (we needed a bunch of set photos for my in laws and they were really great at navigating everything and making sure we had all the shots we needed). Brooke went ABOVE and BEYOND by helping me with things that were completely out of her job description (i.e. rubbing make-up out of my wedding dress minutes before I walked down the aisle during my panic attack).
