She spent the last eight months of her life there, and it was such a blessing to see her cared for with so much love, dignity, and compassion. From the moment we first walked through their doors, it felt like we had found a safe haven for Granny. Gigi and Askar stood out immediately with their warmth and sincerity. Even with their strong yet beautifully unique accents, their words were filled with so much care and kindness. They took the time to explain everything with such thoughtfulness, making sure we understood every step of the process and felt reassured during a very emotional time. Their ability to combine professionalism with genuine humanity was truly remarkable. The home itself is cozy and inviting, but what makes Brookhaven truly special is the people. After 2 falls within two weeks at her local memory care facility, my mom was diagnosed with a brain bleed and spent 3 weeks in the hospital. Brookhaven came highly referred to me by a hospice RN, a staff member at her previous facility, and another gentleman who was helping me to find placement. All three of them referred Brookhaven and said it was the best of the best. Brookhaven did not have openings initially and I visited many other homes that were sub par. Time was of the essence to get her moved into a quality facility before she was discharged from the hospital and I was starting to worry whether we'd find one. I needed a home that could protect her and keep her safe. I called back to Brookhaven again on a prayer and was told that a room came available that day. The rest is history. It's clean, does not smell of urine, beautifully landscaped front and back yard, the inside is tidy, there is an enormous outside covered patio with a table and chairs, and an exercise area along the side of the house. They prepare delicious home-cooked meals every day to the resident's liking. Brookhaven has been nothing less than accommodating. They send videos of my mom chatting, smiling, walking around the backyard smelling flowers, exercising, eating... etc. Trust me, this is where you want your loved one. I looked at so many other board and care homes that couldn't come close to holding a candle to Brookhaven. With a much higher ratio of staff to residents at Brookhaven... 2 staff to 6 residents - versus a small handful of staff for 25-30 in her former memory care facility... I am confident they are providing top care to my mom and that they are taking the necessary measures to ensure her safety to the best of their ability. It warms my heart to see how the staff engage with my mom. They are caring and attentive. Not having to worry so much about my mom has been a relief for me and the rest of our family. I met Gulira through a referral from our family doctor, Dr. Brown P.W. Brookhaven Home came highly recommended. It's never easy or pleasant deciding to place a loved one in a facility. My mom has been living at Brookhaven Home since late December 2018. We tried in-home care, but it was way too expensive (20K per month) and was not viable for her. We looked all over the county for a good assisted living situation. So many of them were full or had more or less than we needed. Although we were initially doubtful of a Living homes due to my unfamiliarity with them, we chose this home for our mom, and I was favorably impressed. She was treated with the utmost respect from the start. Any transition to assisted living is challenging, particularly for someone with Alzheimer's, but the staff and owners have made the transition very nice for her. The ratio of residents to caregivers is excellent, as there are two caregivers on site. The caregivers have been consistent throughout my mom's stay, which has made it pleasant for her. I wish my mom did not have to suffer from this awful disease or leave her beloved home, but they are taking good care of her in a clean and lovely home environment. She was there for about two years and three months and passed peacefully while resting one afternoon. Everyone was so wonderful that day, knowing how hard it was for us. During that time, the Gulira became like family to us. We brought gifts and goodies to thank her and her family, and we still intend to visit occasionally. This place will forever hold a special place in my heart. My uncle spent his last three months there, and those months were filled with so much love, care, and dignity that it brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. When doctors told us he had only a week left, we were devastated. But thanks to the incredible care and compassion of the Brookhaven team, he stayed with us for 94 more precious days. Those extra moments, filled with laughter, good meals, and genuine love, were a gift we'll treasure forever. The staff at Brookhaven are not just caregivers--they are angels. They treated my uncle like family, with tenderness and respect that went beyond our expectations. He loved the food and the warmth he felt every day. The Brookhaven Care Homes are the very best in the area - and I looked at a LOT of them. I was so relieved to meet Gulira when Mom needed care. Their home is staffed with the most pleasant, kind and caring people. The food she gets is wonderful - I saw them even making handmade pasta a few times when I visited! The 3 meals are always handmade from scratch, and there are even nutritious snacks given regularly as well. The home is impeccably clean and even has a beautiful garden for the residents to take exercise walks - Askar does a great job on those yards! Gulira is on top of all of her patients' medical needs and notifies me whenever there is any concern at all, or prescriptions to fill. Recently, when I had to take Mom to the ER, Gulira even showed up there to check on how we were doing. And she cares about the feelings of her residents as well. When we let her know that we'll be taking Mom out to an event, Gulira and her staff make sure Mom has her hair colored, a manicure, make-up and looks her best. That really makes Mom feel good! My siblings were so sad when we had to put Mom into a home, but after coming to see her over the past year, and the beautiful home and level of care Mom gets, they are so happy for her now. My mind is so relieved to know that Mom is getting the very best every day from these wonderful, giving, caring people. read more

I found Gulira and her team in 2019 via Yelp, when it became clear to me and my grandmother that she needed overnight care. From our first encounter, Gulira was respectful and understanding of the situation my grandmother faced if she wanted to continue to live at home. In 2020, my grandmother decided to move into a care facility. Last month, when it became apparent that she had only weeks to live, she asked me to reach out to Gulira to see if she & her team would agree to take her on again during Covid, so she could return home. She immediately stepped up to the plate and provided some of the best 'end-of-life' caregivers who really helped all of us, and especially my 104-year-old grandmother. My Grandmother was asked to relocated by a larger assisted living community in Camarillo due to her declining mobility issues. I was referred to Brookhaven by several care and hospice providers who said the facilities were the cleanest and the staff to most attentive. I toured many facilities in the Camarillo and Thousand Oaks area but kept coming back to Brookhaven because the condition of the facilities, the cleanliness and attentiveness of the staff stood out. Making the move to a home care facility can be a difficult one but the family made an excellent choice. Over the many months that my Grandmother has been at a Brookhaven location the family environment, attention to care and cleanliness and friendliness of the staff have been consistent. Every member of the family and friends who have come to visit have also had nothing but wonderful things to say about the services. Brookhaven AL, is a most welcoming place that provides a level of care you can only wish for, for any loved one. We moved my grand-father into an independent apartment almost five years ago now, with a most recent move into the next level of care, where he now gets the assistance he requires at the young age of 98. We contribute his happiness and health to the care of not only the professionals that work with pride at the facility, but the other community members that live there. The food, activities and resources onsite are beyond great, and the location and facility just gorgeous. Our family experience was nothing short of being wonderful. The staff always made my mom feel important and treated her with dignity. She was always clean, her room for the most part kept up nicely, the kitchen staff was very sweet and the food delicious. When we did have concerns our calls and emails were always returned, issues were always resolved. My mom started on a respite, if she didn't like Brookhaven she could return home . She stayed on. Home Sweet Home really has that "home sweet home" charm. The folks there are so friendly. The staff do an excellent job of providing immediate attention to those who need assistance.
