This place is a rip off! They pre-charged me for service that could not be performed by them (I had to take the child elsewhere). They kept sending me invoices and demanded I pay for the rest, and when I refused they sent it to collections. I am not in talks with the board to review them for office malpractices. My teen child let me know the hygienists were gentle and kind. She also let me know that Dr. Judy was physically rough and verbally unkind. She ignored my child letting her know sensitive areas in her mouth. Then Dr. Judy got mad when my child flinched when touching the sensitive spots. She acted very "kind" to me. We have used this dentistry to have my sons teeth pulled because of how well they take care of their patients. This is not our normal dentist because it is not close to where we live, but, for the harder things we go to them. The breathe down anasthesia is awesome since my son has had some bad experiences with needles. They are just awesome!!! read more

I'd say this practice is hit or miss. It is definitely state of the art and we have had great experiences in the past (quick, easy, personable!), but our last experience was not great. It took a loooong time. One of the hygienists was awesome but the other one didn't seem to interact with my child at all...which is weird for a pediatric practice. At the end, Dr Judy said my child needs further dental work, but she did a bad job of explaining what/why--just told me my kid needed a filling in a baby tooth and if the cavity went too deep, she'd need a crown or a cap or something. I didn't really understand--all of that for a baby tooth that she'll lose in a year? Also, the medical discussion happened in the waiting room in front of the front desk staff and the other parents/kids in the waiting room. I really did not feel comfortable asking questions there in front of everyone. Even for kids, medical information is private. I'm 50/50 whether we will be back. read more

But unless you want your child poked in the chest or a hand covering their mouth to be quiet by Dr. Judy, don't take your kids here. Something I witnessed on more occasions then I'd like to admit. I will say this...Joe (seems to be the office manager) is the best! He is professional and attentive to details. However, I don't know how it was missed after booking (and waiting months) for our first visit that we learned after getting a large bill that BCD is actually an out of network provider for my plan. (Side Eye!) That aside, we had started treatment and my daughter needed some dental work done. New to the area and exhausted, I decided to roll with it and pay out of pocket... just to get consistent care. We had two cavities being filled. During the first visit, she was a tad traumatized and asked me to request that they are a little gentler during her follow up visit. I made a notation upon signing in for our visit...hoping to clue the staff into her anxiety about the visit and to request some mindfulness about how she was feeling. My daughter returned to the waiting area....teary. I thought maybe it was because of pain but she explained to me that "the woman with glasses was rude". She went on to tell me that the woman told her "you have done this before" and was "really annoyed and not helpful" and "she made a mad face"! She said she was scared. She bursted into full blown tears at this point. I asked her to help me identify who it was because I wasn't sure if it was Judy or a hygienist. In addition, my kid was high on laughing gas but she wasn't hallucinating. She knows nice from nasty! Joe (who is always on it! And would totally rate him at a 5! ) expeditiously attempted to help me distinguish who it could have been...Judy came out and offered me nothing! She was dismissive. She used the same language as my child ("you have done this before") when describing their methods for addressing nervousness. Yes, she said that mess!! Which surely is comforting for a small child!! But I think my daughter was more upset about the TONE in which it was delivered. I didn't want to lean into Judy or make a scene because that wouldn't have been productive but I guess I am wondering at what point does Judy allow parents to be with anxious children? Why didn't she call me into the exam area? But let's assume for a minute that my highly emotionally intelligent child was "off" about this interaction, should she at minimal be offered a chat with Judy to reassure her that the intentions behind what she said was not to upset her and that her (Judy) tone was not to be mean or coercive? Some sort of apology... for her little patient? With that...BCD can kick rocks My daughter is 7. And she was left in BCD's care for the 52 minutes that she was in the exam room. Careful attention and regard should be paid to little children who are blooming in their relationship with providers... Judy (or perhaps her hygienist) needs some sensitivity training. And alternate plans for children who are anxious about dentistry. read more

It was our first visit, we were so impressed and thrilled that we have found our pediatric dentist! We got a fast appointment and it was so easy to schedule items, fill out forms and check in. My son was so worried about x-rays having had a tough experience prior that hurt him. Everyone was so nice and comforting, his services were quick, filled with laughter and the "pick your toy" at the end- priceless. He asked if we were coming back next month and hugged everyone on the way out the door. We couldn't be happier and we'll be back in 6 months without a doubt! read more

I originally was not going to leave a negative review, but the increasingly hostile and bizarre communications of the front desk staff convinced me otherwise. Our first visit here was ok. The staff was a little tone deaf with our daughter and the dentist seemed rush, but I had pretty low expectations, so it was fine. My two-year-old needed an evaluation for three spots of minor decay that our regular dentist was unsure about. The dentist immediately insisted all three needed a filling. I was a little skeptical, but am not a dentist, so of course deferred to her. She was adamant that our child would need to be sedated for the procedure. The fillings would also cost $1500, which is the most exorbitant filling cost I've ever heard, but I will willing to pay it for a quality care. Except that it became clear our child would not be getting quality, sensitive care. The practice aggressively insisted upon: 1) sedating her; 2) having her alone in the room with the dentist. They offered no explanation for this bizarre policy. Every parenting book, every parenting instinct, every expert on child behavior tells parents the same thing: don't leave children alone with strange people, don't defer to people who want to get your children alone, don't leave children with no way to get to help, and certainly don't separate them from their parents during potentially scary procedures. I realize this is common among some dentists, but this does not make the practice acceptable, especially for a toddler who has no ability to protect herself or access her parents. What was more troubling is how aggressive and defensive the practice became about the policy. They gave us contradictory justifications for the policy. First it was that there was "no room." That didn't check out. Then it was that they "treat all patients the same." Then it just became an insistence on policy--no actual justification at all. Sorry, but I'm not going to pay someone money to endanger and potentially traumatize my kid. If you're like me, and believe that trust is earned and not given, I'd avoid this practice. We've already found a new dentist who welcomes parents, and who says that many pediatric dentists recommend unnecessary fillings. read more

Dr. Judy has been the only dentist I have used for my daughter. We are so pleased with all of our visits. Dr. Judy such a pleasant demeanor and has helped my daughter enjoy going to the dentist. Her office staff are always helpful and friendly. Visits happen on time and they have us on our way in a timely fashion. Procedures not covered by insurance are pre-cleared with me. Free parking, nice facility, arcade games for the kiddos while they wait, coffee for the adults while we wait. Comfy seating and pleasant environment. read more

This is a bit long but it does describe our experience at this office yesterday. I also sent this letter directly to the office. We had visited your office before and it was identified by you and communicated by us that she has extreme anxieties about visiting dentists. You assured us you could handle it and based on your stellar record and recommendations, we believed you and decided to pay out of pocket for your services. What is difficult to digest, is that during our 70 minutes there (we had a 90 minute appointment), you provided no alternatives to us to help get the procedure done. We get it that it was only a spoonful of meds and it is a bit extreme for a child to take that long to finish it, but you were well aware of her anxieties and it shouldn't have taken you 70 minutes to decide you didn't have time to complete her procedure. In the end, regardless of her fear, my daughter DID finish the medication, yet YOU told her that her time was up and sent her home. We weren't going to hold her down and force feed her. What kind of effect would that have in the long run? Years of constantly having to be medicated to get her teeth cleaned? Developing no confidence whatsoever in dental professionals? What really breaks my heart and infuriates me is that my daughter left your office saying that she was disappointed in herself and she hates herself because after everything, she believes it is her fault that she was sent home. Our daughter did what she was supposed to do. Did you? Doctors are supposed to take their time with their patients. Big deal if it would have put you a few minutes behind, fillings don't take that long. I hope that if other families have a situation that requires a little more flexibility on your part, you won't push them out the door like you did our daughter. Further - You uttered some words during our visit that the valium wouldn't be effective, although I'm not sure why. I'd like you to know that moments after leaving your office, our daughter became extremely disoriented...she was high as a kite. She was sent home, with no medical observation. I'm sure, being a dental professional, you are aware that when patients are given drugs, they remain in the office to have their procedures completed, under medical care and by the time everything is completed, the effects are usually beginning to wear off. Not Emily, she left the office (rather, she was shuffled out because you had no time left for her) and within minutes was seeing triple and falling over. Thank you for creating that memory, Doc. I am glad you have raving reviews from other patients, I can only make an assumption that these families have children without the anxieties my daughter has. Maybe you should stick to treating them and adults because what you did to my daughter was 100% irresponsible on your part. I just cannot believe, you doped up a 38lb 6 year old and sent her home because you are not willing to be flexible for your patients and spend a few extra minutes with them. read more

Amazing experience. Everyone who worked there was wonderful, from the people on reception to the nurses to the dentist. I had my 18month old with me and they were very understanding and helped to keep him busy while my daughter had her appointment. New to Atlanta, we were recommended to Dr. Christianson by a colleague of mine. I am still thankful for that. The dental check-up at the end of May 2013 was an experience that could not have been more pleasant. Scheduling the appointment, we got a first glimpse of the friendly and effective way that communication is handled at Dr. Christianson's office. We had no problem to find the office. Enough parking space is available, too. Once inside the office, we were greeted very cordially and were made comfortable. Dr. Christianson is very charming and has an impressing way of winning her young patients' hearts. Even though our daughter was afraid of her dentist's appointment, she willing let herself lead into the dentist's office while we waited outside, enjoying complimentary coffee. After about half an hour, our daughter came out beaming - obviously, she had a very good time, having her teeth checked and cleaned and learning about oral hygiene. She is even looking forward to her next appointment in October, and we do, too. All thumbs up! read more

Awful, just awful experience. Was referred by our normal Dentist. Made it clear when I booked the appt. 2+ weeks ago that we were under time constraints due to my son leaving for camp first weekend in June for 3.5 weeks. Was assured the procedure would be completed prior to my son leaving for camp in one office visit. Dr. Christianson was arrogant and seemed more interested in stretching out office visits to maximize payment. When all was said and done for two simple cavities the Dr. Explained that it would take 3 office visits! This was communicated not in private but at the front office counter. Clearly expectations were not aligned or met which now leaves me scrambling for dental care within a tight window. Stay away from this office! read more

First time to a dentist - my son (age 3) did great! Staff was super friendly and he enjoyed the experience.

Our first two visits were fine, but the last one disappointed and caused us to search for alternatives. The cleaning lady came up to take our 4-year old in (leaving the 3-year old with me, she was scheduled next though). In the past we always joined the kids going in. We don't feel comfortable not being present when our kids are to receive ANY medical treatment at all. So, the lady pushes back at me trying to walk in with her and says, wait here, I will take her in. I mentioned we normally join. She says, impatiently, that "they want to build a relationship of trust" and so they want my child there alone with them and she takes her in, agitated at me as it seems. I told the ladies at the desk, look, I am going in, this is unacceptable. They said oh of course, there's parents chairs in there. "I know" I answer. And so I walk in (with our 3-year old with me). So now the cleaning lady is twisting her nose at me as she cleans my two girls' teeth. This incident made me feel uncomfortable using this clinic. On top of that, the dentist is coughing in the corner all the time. I asked the cleaning lady if the dentist has a cold. She claimed it's allergies... Anyhow, this visit left us w/ a bad feeling about this clinic. Disappointed. Looking for alternative dentists now. read more
