Very fast, cabin to get out of the wind and plenty of deck space. Captain: Captain Clarence, really personable, helpful, great attitude, and knowledgeable. We had 3 first timers, two of them were 11 year old boys. The boys had a great time and looking forward to going again. The all around experience: We were the first boat out there. We were fishing within 15 minutes from leaving the dock. We limited on fish pretty quick with some real quality fish. He bled out every fish so when it was time to get the filets the fish was so clean. And to top it off he had plenty of shaved ice to keep the fish as fresh as possible. When I come back to Brookings I definitely will go back on this boat. Thank you captain Clarence we had a great time. Thinking about going on a tuna run with this boat.

My husband and I wanted to take our two boys (ages 3 and 4) kayaking on the Chetco this past weekend. It's early May and kayaking season for him doesn't really start until end of May. However, he made an acceptation and helped us out renting kayaks, gear and providing the shuttle service. Josh was warm, funny and extremely helpful. Because we have small guys we had to drive our car with the car seats to the drop off spot and he drove our car back to our campsite (Loeb park) while his wife took the shuttle car back. Josh even threw in some awesome squirt gun toys for our boys! It was so nice and turned out to be a highlight of the trip for our kids. Kept them well entertained.

Gabriel was prompt, friendly and provided insightful information about the fishery. Captain Jesus was an expert guide who spoke English and educated us on the fishery. Despite the unusually cold waters, he quickly got us onto two 15+ lb yellowtail and later helped us hook a 25 lb dorado on the surface. Day 2 was more challenging due to the previous night's storm, but we still enjoyed a scenic trip to the island, caught some quality rockfish, and landed a 34 lb pargo! My family also had an amazing experience, catching a striped marlin, several dorados, and more yellowtail. Baja Pirates is a first-class operation with seasoned captains and top-of-the-line gear. Next time, I'll leave my equipment and ice chest at home since Gabriel has everything you need right at the dock. Huge thanks to Leonard for an incredible trip--we'll be back! Just a reminder to everyone; fishing is unpredictable, but the Baja Pirates fish hard and will put you in the best position to succeed.

I caught plenty of fish Baja Pirates helped us book a breathtaking excursion to a private beach we snorkeled with seal lions and also took in the amazing sea life along the reef it was just awesome. We went into town and enjoyed the local restaurant's and gift shops it was super clean and very friendly. We meet great people who had also booked their fishing trips with Baja Pirates and was so nice sharing stories enjoying the pool and the night life. Cant wait to come back again !! Stunning, breathtaking ocean and forest views. Well worth a stop! There is a 2.7 mile hiking trail…read moredown to the beach from this overlook. We didn't have time to hike the whole thing today (it is 5.4 miles round trip), but we hiked out on this trail for about 20 minutes and then hiked about 20 minutes back, and we both thought it was well worth the time to do that. We saw wild irises along the trail, many beautiful trees of all shapes and sizes, more incredible ocean vistas, and a monarch butterfly! I personally quite love hiking trails that have arch-like overhangs of trees over parts of the trail. Happily, the beginning jaunt of this trail had several such arches of greenery. It is magical to be enclosed by trees on both sides of me *and* also overhead! Some stretches of this trail have somewhat steep elevation gain. Other sections of the trail were very muddy when we hiked this trail today, to the extent that our shoes could've sunk several inches in to mud if we weren't watching where we stepped. There was no one there except for us today! It is a week day morning, so this park may be far more crowded on the week-ends. But it was so peaceful to enjoy this place all to ourselves! I was a little worried about the rope climb at the bottom to the beach but it was a breeze (I'm 67). The tide was out so we spent a lot of time on the rocks, looking at the tide pools, walking the beach and letting the 3 dogs run. We went during the week in June and had the beach to ourselves. The day was super windy but the trail and beach were blocked from most of it. The views from the trail are spectacular and so many wildflowers and mushrooms to see. Not a huge parking area so I could see where it might be tight on the weekends. Several of us were in flip flops but I would wear my hiking shoes if I was to go back.

My husband and I found it this beautiful advertisement online for this company. We had made…read morereservations a few months prior for our wedding,however we live in another state so we hadn't had a chance to see the venue other than the pictures on the website. We arrived at the venue the day before the wedding. We also had arrangements for two nights in the honeymoon suite. When we showed up, we were shown the main house that we were going to get married in. It apparently is being lived in by Patrick and his wife. Not a professional setting. But the view out back was amazing. Patrick then showed us to our " honeymoon suite". Except for it's classified more as a junior suite. No tv , room too small, and mystery door in the room as well, not to be used. That was creepy, Also in the bedroom, the queen size bed took up the whole room. There was only a little pathway to get to the bathroom, and to get to the other side of the bed. When we left that day, we decided that we had to cancel their so-called honeymoon suite because it was just too small for us. when I let Patrick know that evening that we wouldn't be staying the two nights because the suite was too small. He stated that he might have shown me the wrong room. And by that time my husband and I had already made reservations for a true honeymoon suite. The day finally arrives, we get to the venue three hours early we start to get ready. Everything seems to be OK. Now, at this point, I realize I haven't mentioned that our wedding is just my husband and myself and my maid of honor. So we did get a great price for all that. We really looked forward to having a intimate peaceful wedding. While I was getting ready with my maid of honor people that weren't invited to our wedding were coming up and talking to my fiancé at the time and he's nervous and he doesn't want to talk but these people are friends of Patrick's. It made my husband very uncomfortable. In the meantime, our photographer shows up and things seem to be smoothing out. My photographer was wonderful and we really enjoyed her. However, as I walked down the stairs to walk through the house and out, Patrick stops my photographer and tells her that she must move her vehicle. This was highly unprofessional, and did not need to be dealt with at that moment. Literally minutes before I was to walk down the aisle. So the car gets moved the photographer gets in position. I make my way past the kitchen and out the door. But as I'm walking, something doesn't look right to me, it was the position of Patrick and my fiancé. Patrick was standing in the wrong place. He stood to Todd's left. You can see when you look at the pictures what I'm talking about. Then we get to the part where Patrick officiates this wedding. I thought this was something he had done before. It clearly was not. he did not read from the book. He did not have it memorized. He had everything out of order. He had asked if anyone had any reason why we should not get married halfway into the ceremony. I had to tell him twice that we hadn't exchanged the rings. I wish I could share the video, but that's a little more personal that I'd like to do at this point. I think I can get my point across with my words in my pictures. They also said they would provide a cake which I found out two days prior because I asked, that, they decided they weren't going to do a cake for us. Thank heavens for Fred Meyers! They saved the day. Patrick also had another couple in the duplex " honeymoon suite" behind the main house. They seem to be more of a priority to Patrick than we were.

This beautiful beach in Brookings can be found by using a beach access trail from the water…read moretreatment facility parking area (indicated by a public access sign as you turn into the parking area). I wouldn't call this a hike as it can't be longer than a mile to get down to the beach, and most of it is paved. It is only accessible up until a certain point, then turns into gravel, eventually sea-smoothed stones, bits of logs, and sand. Our party of six adults and two children were looking for a beach to explore along the Brookings coast, and this ended up being a great choice. There are some extremely cool points of interest along the way, like panoramic views of the point and surrounding coastline, and a lookout trail that splits off and carries one up a steep cliff. None of the people in our beach going party opted for this, but it did look like a fun photo op. I wasn't sure if my dang back would allow for me to get up there. Maybe if I ever return. It was instead onward to the beach to set up chairs, let the kids make sand castles, and wander about looking for shells and tide pools, of which there were many! Hmm I'm just now remembering I left the teeny sand dollar I found at the airbnb. Aww. Our day was bright and sunny, which a friend local to the area told me is rare. Personally I was looking forward to an overcast chilly Oregon coast day, but I can't complain about sun and a gentle, cool breeze compared to the over 100 degree weather my friends and I left behind in California to come up here a couple weeks ago in September 2022. The water was not too cold to swim in, or at least wade in, which is what I opted to do. Salt water healing, yes please. This is a great beach for watching wildlife and observing native plants. One of the kids found the chonkiest bull kelp I have ever seen in my life, which needed three other people (okay maybe not needed but it made a cute picture) to help carry it across the beach. I would definitely come here again and try that steeper lookout point, should my mobility improve. Otherwise there is always the sweet beach access trail. Plenty of parking can be found, and though we saw bathrooms on our way down to the beach when my friend tried their door handles they turned out to be locked.

Still wanting…read moreto see the Oregon coast we had heard so much about, but not with a lot of time, this was a great spot. You can easily pull over as it is right on your drive, spend as much or as little time as you want and still have great views and a great experience. Wish we could have spent more time, but it was still a great spot to jump out and back in to continue our journey down the coast.
