My brother-in-law and I booked a trip 8/21/19. We were going to just do the Brookings area however Jalen talked us into to going further south due to the fact fishing was better. It was more expensive ($55) but we were glad we did! The boat limited out on rock type fish and several others were caught. Levi the captain and Justice the deck hand were excellent and very helpful. With the staff being so nice and helpful, you couldn't have a better fishing experience. We took a 5-6 hour bottom fishing trip on the Super Star and had the absolute best time. The deckhand and captain were so nice and helpful, with lots of mindfulness for the smaller fish throwing them back. We'll absolutely go back again if we decide to fish in this area. read more

So much fun! I'm really not a fishing type of gal, but this experience was incredibly positive. The guys on the boat were really personable and funny, and really knew what they were doing. They made everyone feel comfortable, and even when I threw up over the side (only 7 times, no big deal....0.o) they didn't make me feel embarrassed that I'd just dumped breakfast in front of 6 strangers. I'm sure they see it all the time, but they were exceptionally cool. The fishing was excellent, we were out by Bird Rock, and everyone caught their limit of Rockfish and left happy. They cleaned fish for 9 people and had it fileted for us within a half hour. I would highly recommend Tidewinds to anyone who enjoys fishing... I wouldn't go again, but that's just because I learned the true meaning of "seasickness", and we were even out on a fairly calm day. But that's just me! Use Tidewinds! :) read more

Took my teenage son on a fishing trip yesterday with Tidewind. I cant recommend this company enough. Company owner Kyle and his deck hand Dan worked very hard to make sure everyone was satisfied and comfortable at all times. I have been on many fishing trips, mostly out of San Diego, with other companies and it is easy to be ignored or forgotten by the crew resulting in less time actually fishing. Not with these guys. They literally ran from passenger to passenger taking care of needs. It so happens everyone on the boat caught our limit if fish. If the bite was not on they did not hesitate to move. However even if we had not Kyle and Dan were upbeat and humorous the entire time so we still would have had a good time. Cant wait to use them again. Next time maybe a longer trip for Tuna. read more

Fished 9/7/17 with Levi and Justin. What a great trip. Our family of 11 (mostly first timers) got to experience a great fishing trip on the Tidewind. Capt Levi and Justin really took care of our group. We had more fish than we needed so decided to head in early (no need to get greedy). Capt Levi suggested that we make one last stop on the way home and try for the elusive ling cod since no one had caught one that morning. Great idea as we finally caught a nice ling on that stop. We found out later it was the only ling caught by the three boats in the fleet. There was a storm front that moved thru the night before shutting down the ling bite. We got rained on but with the fires that were burning 5 miles from Brookings, the rain was welcome relief. If you are new to fishing and want to have a good time without being intimidated by being a newbie, give them a try. Levi was very knowledgeable and Justin was a wiz taking care of the occasionally tangles. I have fished all my life from Mexico to Alaska and this outfit is in the top 3 for service and fun. My wife and I went out on Saturday for a long range bottom fishing trip. It was raining really hard the majority of the trip and the waves were choppy. Tough conditions to be sure. Dylan the captain and Jimmy went above and beyond to assist everyone, especially my wife who was not feeling well. We caught our limits in the worst conditions and had a great time. Monday we went out with Dustin as captain and Matt as our deck hand on a local trip north of town in windy conditions with just a small sprinkle. Conditions were a 100% improved from Saturday. They went out of there way with the customers on board. Trying every trick in the book to help everyone have a great trip and get there limits. We tried varying jigs, soft baits, cut bait, etc..., hooking up our rock fish limits and numerous ling cod trying to land that monster. We almost succeeded in our quest. This place is great! We had been searching all over the Oregon coast for a fishing charter to take our 6 year old son. And so glad we made it Tidewind. Great boat with a lot of space and good cabin, and captain Kyle and Daniel were outstanding, right on every catch helping to haul fish in and take care of tangles and bottom snags. Plus they were kind and fun. We met a bunch of Long time (10+ years) repeat fisherman on the boat who make at least annual visits to fish with Tidewind, so another good sign. It was our first time fishing ever... yet alone on a fishing boat so were definitely excited! We arrived at the fishing harbor around 540am; we checked in at the Tidewind Sportfishing office and it was quick transaction. Payment included the fishing trip and a fishing license for the day; if you pay in cash, there is a discount. After paying, we made our way to the fishing docks where the Tidewind Fishing Boat was docked. We were greeted by the captain and the deckhand and made our way to the starboard of the ship was they tried to keep us altogether. It was a cold and windy day so the ride to the middle of the sea was a little choppy but it was way better than the rainy day prior. The captain and the deckhand were very knowledgeable and helpful during our fishing trip. As our first time fishing, it took us a while to get a hang of using the fishing rods and the mechanics of fishing. But we had a marvelous and exciting experience! Altogether on this day, I, along caught eight rockfishes! There is a max five fish to each person so my other three were donated to others who didn't make the quota. The captain was great in picking the right fishing spots! We really didn't spend more than 10-15 minutes on a spot unless there were fishes being caught. My husband had a great time because he caught the biggest fish that day amongst all the fishermen; a nice, long and fat ling cod! What we loved about the fishing trip was it also came with the filleting of the fishes. When we docked; we were allowed to walk around the harbor as it had a festival that day and to make it back to the boat in 45 minutes to pick up our fishes. The fishes were packaged in bags, ready for transportation. As a courtesy, we tipped the captain and deckhand for an experience we will never forget!
