I truly wanted to give Mr. Gattis 5 stars, I have been eating here since I was young, brought my…read morekids here when they were young, had birthday parties here, little league celebrations here, you name it, but a couple of things kept me from doing so. First the bad: 1. Their prices are outrageous now. I get things have gone up, but two buffets with drinks is almost $30 - how can a family afford to come here now? 2. The employees who were working on Wednesday night were not very friendly, especially the one with long hair wafting in the breeze as he walked around. It really seemed like a bunch of high school boys just goofing off, they barely smiled, and the one seemed to have a chip on his shoulder the size of Mt. Rushmore (the one with long hair). There was one guy who was friendly as we were leaving but I don't know if I saw him prior to that time. Usually there is an extremely nice gentleman working, he always smiles, doesn't know my name but recognizes me from all my years patronizing the restaurant, and he truly is just cheerful and welcoming. Also the owner is super nice. She has done soooo much to continue to update the restaurant, the games, the seats, you name it! Now for the good, actually the great! 1. Per the norm, the restaurant was clean and bright. 2. The food on the buffet was hot, fresh, and always stocked (so even though the boys might have been goof offs they were working on something). The mac and cheese was super fresh and my daughter said it was the best she had ever had there. 3. The games were updated and fun. There was a new VR game and the game room was clean. There was a variety of games for most ages, and everyone seemed to be having fun. 4. The pizza was delicious, and exactly what I expect when I go there. Since moving away, Gattis is one of the go to places as soon as I touch down because it has so many good memories, and it's comfort food. It always sucks when you go back to a place you used to frequent to "relive" a moment and it's not what it once was - but Gattis always delivers and the cheese sticks and pizza are still the same and still great.

After asking for my info twice she stated it would be approximately an hour before my order was ready! I walked back to my vehicle and then received a message from Papa John's thanking me for placing an order at 7:39! So somehow my order never got put in! Not sure who this fault lies with but it's completely unacceptable!

Yes, it was Papa Johns, after he dismantled the pelican and put him into a pizza box, he handed me a cup of his signature garlic butter sauce. We both drank the garlic butter, we drank them in a manner in between that of taking a shot and taking communion. It was a still quiet holy moment, between papa John and myself. The dream ended. I am open to any interpretations. I called Papa Johns, in Morehead Kentucky, I placed an order over the phone. I gave them 10 minutes before heading there, the drive took 10 minutes, going on 20 minutes. I received a call, a family member called and also placed an order, they paid over the phone. Since I had a spiritual awaking with papa johns 20 minutes before, I realize that I have about 10 minutes to kill before my pizza is ready and like 15 -20 minutes for the other order to be ready. I killed some time, arrived about 30 minutes after the last order was ordered and paid for over the phone. Once I arrived at Papa Johns, I waited outside. ( the lobby is closed) I yearned for the garlic butter sauce. The first order was out in reasonable time. Paid, and waited for the second order. The runner came out 5 times and asked what I was waiting on. I said pizza and gave the name of the order. They responded with, "It's in the oven" Each time. (A cheese pizza apparently takes 30 minutes to make and 20 minutes in the oven) This waiting at outside the lobby took 20 minutes, Finally it came out. They added additional stuff to the order, and said it wasn't paid. It was a hot mess. We ended up paying twice because there was no reasoning with any of the employees as it was an absolute hot mess inside the restaurant with no captain behind the wheel. The pizza was good. It just took forever, and was a frustrating amount of time..

Drive 23 miles from Flemingsburg, KY for a buffet gamble? You bet I will!…read more I need to show this place some love and update to the suggestions made from earlier reviews. This buffet is in a college town- as a serve yourself kind of place it makes sense to pay at the door- best part is if you stick around long enough and study you can just have two meals and it's then cheaper than most other options for the quality. Variety and freshness definitely has been improved upon - caveat- that's not wonton soup in the display... It's melted butter... That's right. I don't know if maybe there used to be crab legs for those or not, but be warned. I love high end sashimi bars all way to those sketchy bodegas in old Louisville neighborhood and this buffet ranks with some of my favorites. Dining area was kept clean during our stay. Why not five stars? Still need to get somebody for those restrooms- but good job on the live fish tank! What IS that neat eel fish thing anyways?

The experience was memorable, though not necessarily in the way I hoped. The food was edible, but I would not put it much higher than that. The orange chicken was, in fact, orange. The cream cheese wontons were the clear winner, especially once generously assisted by dipping sauce. The broccoli beef, unfortunately, was a hard pass. The texture was not appealing, and it quickly became one of those buffet decisions you make once and do not repeat. If you are hungry and looking for Southern-style Chinese buffet food, this may do the job. For me, it was a one-time visit, and since I still have a few more days in town, I'll be trying somewhere else next time.
