I would give a negative rating if possible. Poor workmanship, poor communication. The workers daily left their lunch trash and other trash in my yard. When I would text the sales guy with pictures, he would tell me not to overreact. Really! Very condescending. They do not guarantee their work. That says it all. read more

Dustin seemed like such a nice guy, but... He has yet to finish the landscape job he started in April. Plus, at least 15 of his plants have died from improper access to water, and I still have two holes in the ground waiting for trees he agreed to. I've attempted to contact him, but no response. If you decide to use his business, "What a Lawn", get everything in writing as he forgets what you verbally agreed on. It's September and I have not heard from him since June. Brooks Landscaping installed a new porch and walkway. It looks nice until you look closer and see that the 2 steps are different. The top step has a 1" spacer installed and the bottom does not (as it should be). Spoke with the owner and and he won't even give the common courtesy to come out and look at it. I only give it 2 stars because the workers were very nice..the owner not so much There are better companies to business with. read more

Disappointed in having to leave the review I'm leaving. Brooks provided phenomenal curb appeal and transformed my property. What sold me was the commitment of standing by their work. The issue and why I'm only leaving a 2 star review is the owner doesn't follow up. Took a couple of attempts to get them to fix pavers that had mortar all over them. The biggest issue and what the owner has been dodging is they cut one of my landscaping lights cables and did a poor job fixing it. The set up the lights as a favor while gutting my landscaping but if even as a favor if you break something you're still responsible for it. If they didn't want to fix it just say so instead of avoiding your customers. This is not including the broken sprinkler heads I never even brought up to them. It's extremely frustrating when you spend over $10K to get sloppy work. If they had resolved the issue or had at least been professional I was even considering them for additional work. read more

So disappointed in the quality of the product and workmanship. I had to have another company come rip it out and pay double to have it done again. They do not stand behind their work. They do not call you back. Look elsewhere for a business that would take better care of your needs. My yard actually looked better before they did any work! read more

Dustin seemed like a nice guy, at first. He quoted our condo HOA a price to redo two flower beds. It seemed like a fair price. When we went to schedule the work, we asked Dustin to fill out a W-9 and provide us with a certificate of liability insurance. We were told that caused him too much of a headache and he would double the price and make us pay cash. Then, he would fill out the two forms for us. I sent an email to the owner of the company asking him if this was how he ran his business. He didn't return my email or call me. What we got was a rude text from Dustin telling us not to get other people involved. We have managed our condo association for 7 years and have never dealt with a company so unprofessional. They may do good work, as some of my friends have stated, but we will never ask them again to quote a project for us, and we will never recommend working with this company. read more

Brooks did an absolutely amazing job in my backyard. Dustin came out and scoped the project with me, making recommendations to make sure we had proper drainage and offering suggestions on the design and plants. It was a big job with a lot of brick work, drains, sod and plants. Hunter and the crew were great to work with. They showed up when they said they would and worked hard for nearly two weeks. Hired this company 2x and spent thousands each time. Tried to get them to come back to look at some poorly planted bushes, to lay down some new pavers and do some more planting. May 28, 2020 I used Brooks Landscaping for my front yard in Wyandotte on Biddle despite his quote being $1000 more than Formosas who had just started cutting my grass regularly then. Brooks does not offer grass cutting, or at least didn't then. Formosas quote also included a gravel like parking pad AND specifically said weed barrier included. I used Brooks because Brooks had been close to my brother since childhood and many of the workers are in recovery and doing well. At the time I had recently separated from an addict who had robbed me blind, ruined my credit and shattered my faith in humanity. Very, very stupidly I went with Brooks because I fell DEEPLY for the sales persons recovery story, and I knew of the owners recovery story and I was glad to know people could bounce back after what my ex-husband was experiencing and had put me through but just two weeks after the job was done weeds came back big time!! I had all of this expensive work done ($2995 worth in CASH MONEY) because I was suddenly single and not in good physical health for working in the heat regularly. It was impossible to tend to such a big yard on my own.  So I discovered Brooks did NOT use a weed barrier, yes it's true the quote did NOT say weed barrier included but whoever heard of such a thing especially on such a high quote??? My dad had a landscaping license in his younger years and the VERY first thing I learned and did at 2 other properties in my 20s on my own was a weed barrier!!! Never in a million years would I imagine a $2995 quote for getting rid of weeds, bringing in new mulch and planting flowers for a single woman who admitted to being overwhelmed at the work load she was left with would not include a weed barrier! My yard looked just as terrible one month after spending $3000 than it did before AND the company tried to get me to fill out a satisfactory form upon completion, no doubt to boost their online approval rating. I'm thankful I didn't and I didn't because they left without fixing the landscaping bricks the previous owners installed which was actually on the quote. I did include one photo of that. They DID come back to fix that but then poof two weeks later terrible weeds!!! I complained to the owner. I complained to the sales person, I complained to my brother but I never got the weed barrier put in or a refund or even an apology, tho one time someone came and pulled a few weeds by hand. One month after the work when my brother stopped by he had no clue what his pals company had even done!!! The owner complained that his overhead was sky high and he barely cleared anything on the job ( I have documentation). Not my problem that you don't have your overhead under control! I wish I would have gone directly to the better business bureau or whoever the appropriate party is way back then but I wasn't functioning highly due to such heartache in my every day life and my brother was embarrassed and asked me not to post anything and I didn't want to hurt him. I was barely getting dressed. I was extremely depressed, insecure, shocked, hurt and alone. I've bounced back a little bit and now refuse to let people take advantage of me without using my voice! Do yourselves an enormous favor and do not believe any positive reviews that were filled out the day the job was completed by Brooks in regards to landscaping! Once again my home is the worst looking home on the street, even though I put more money into my yard than any of my neighbors have in years!!! I've actually cried about this because my home needs soooo much more work that those funds could have gone to! I wish I would have used Formosas or even slowly did the work myself or not done anything at all! Save yourselves the heartache. I have plenty more images documenting the before, during and after, they all look just as dreadful. A $3000 nightmare that I have to see every day of my life, don't make the same mistake that I did. My yard looks WORSE now one year later. What a nightmare. read more

Was in the market for a patio and chose Brooks for the job. They were extremely professional and timely, actually was able to start the job earlier than originally booked! The price was on par with other companies I got quotes from but really enjoyed Dustin am so happy I went with them. The crew led by Neal was knowledgeable, kept me up to date on the project and made my patio perfect just in time for summer days. Their clean up was above and beyond with seeding some spots that inevitably were going to be a little worn, even with boards down on the grass. They also helped fix a few cosmetic things outside of the patio that I wasn't able to on my own. Overall I would highly recommend them for your patio project. read more

If you are looking for a great company to make your landscaping and yard look like out of a magazine, do NOT use Brooks Landscaping! We spent thousands and were left with uneven, bumpy ground under new sod, very low spots in our tiny front yard, and flat landscaping stones that you could roll marbles down because they are not even close to level. The owner refused to fix anything besides throwing some top soil over one very low spot of sod. The money we spent on the stones just to have them poorly placed is very upsetting. Carefree Lawn Center recommended screenings placed under these large rocks and Brooks wouldn't follow their advice. I repeat do not use Brooks Landscaping! read more
