5 STARS! I highly recommend you go They did some remodeling in the past three years since I was last here and I have to say I love all of the upgrades. When you walk in, there is a cute little gift store where they also sell fudge. The fudge is absolutely delicious. Personally I think it's better than the fudge you would get at the shore in Jersey or Maryland etc. their bakery items are to die for there is always an abundance of choices so hard to choose from that. Sometimes you get maybe 3 to 5 items because you just can't choose. As always, the staff are fantastic . They hustle and know the menu. The food is always delicious. We've only ever been for breakfast, but I've heard great things about the lunch and dinner menu. read more

We had a large party of ten and arrived to find our table set up and ready for service. Our server was particularly attentive and answered a myriad of questions. With a wide variety of orders, she quickly and accurately brought everything to the table. Pancakes are fluffy and two are a challenge to eat. The homemade toast choices were numerous and the cinnamon swirl was particularly well received. My corn beef hash was crisp, crunchy and soft all at the same time and was delicious. When I'm looking for some homemade cooking when I'm up North, this is the place I go. This time my husband had the pot roast dinner, which was very good and tender. I had the meatloaf, which hit the spot. I love the coleslaw, and both my husband love the dinner rolls!!! The desserts are also very good. Serviceable little lunch for us. Were getting tired of clams, lobster and all that stuff. So she had country fried steak and I had meatloaf. Both were on special and came with homemade rolls, mashed spuds and choice of vegetable. Meatloaf was OK and her steak thing was a pre-breaded frozen patty with cream gravy. I'm glad I got gravy on the side rather than on top of my dinner. I could tell it was from a industrial-made base rather than homemade. Yuck! The queen bee decided to get a piece of blueberry pie for a bit later. So later came and went. At least THAT tasted homemade! Not quite sure how this place got 5 stars from so many folks. Well: beggars can't be choosers up in this area. I do have to say the place is clean. Waitress friendly and the decor is simple but quite nice and simple. A couple of kick-plates fell off the radiators and need replacing. Fresh coat of paint on there at least. Hunter green trim and lovely off-white walls and well-kept wainscoting. Now if only they could do that well with their meatloaf. Final oddball note. Lady manager asked if our waitress wanted any half shifts next week; no. 11-7 was fine for her. So awhile later when it came time to cash out, our girl just winced and looked away. It seemed readily apparent that she was afraid of manager lady. She told mgr lady that she didn't wanna mess with what she was doing in her system. Next time we are sticking with Grammy's. Food better and they all get along up there. read more

This place is an oasis. After driving for eight hours, we stopped here to stay a night in a lovely, clean room and eat a dinner and a breakfast in the restaurant. It's a busy place, and when you eat the food you understand it's popularity. The waitstaff is both cheerful and helpful. There are lots of home-baked breads, cookies, muffins and more. Potatoes are local and delicious in any form. What you'll find is scrumptious homemade local food. read more

The only thing keeping me from being a regular? I live 800 miles away! We found this while taking a country drive along US 2. A perfect small-town restaurant with friendly, hard-working staff, great home cooking and plenty of desserts. Maybe it isn't too fancy, but how often do you need that? Beware that, at this time, they are undergoing some renovations. When we first pulled up I thought they might be closed; you have to follow a "detour" to get in the side door. I suspect that will be remedied sometime in the summer of 2022. My suggestion? Get off 95, have a great meal, and then slow down and enjoy old highway 2 yourself. read more

Arrived a little before 5 PM. My wife ordered the stuffed fillet of soul. Two minutes later found out it was already sold out at 5 PM. The only vegetable they had was corn or coleslaw. She ended up ordering the fish and baked potato, I ordered the prime rib. My wife's baked potato was not fully cooked and the fish was burnt on the bottom side . It was hard for a good portion and cold The corn out of a can al dente they would call it ,I called it cold. The prime rope was not very good. It was a poor, cut, and not very thick not what you expect for 26.99. I would not recommend anybody go there on a Saturday night and expect to have a decent meal. Service was poor as well. read more

Lunch time after church is one of my favorite stops. They've got really good food, my favorite is the fish and chips ($14) which is a large fillet of fried haddock with a pile of fries that are too much to eat, with a side salad and a roll or biscuit, there's no room left for dessert for me. I can't believe I'm giving a roadside inn restaurant a five star but the great sandwiches and service merit this. The cuban sandwich I was served was one of the best I've ever had. HORRIBLE!!! RACIST RESTURANT!!! I have been frequenting this resturant on and off for a time, always finding the food adequate, not exceptional in any way but simple basic food and service. But then WOW..just walking in the door I was insulted for my attire siting: "there must be something wrong with you" to an endless barrage of insults as I sat at a table. The final insult was comment on my parking (in a pothole filled lot with no lines) quote" you must be french" implying that since i cannot park in a perfect line i'm french! That was enough! I had to leave immediately. Only learning on my exit that it was the "owner" of the resturant who was harassing me the whole time! So if you like being degraded and insulted, and enjoy being racist this is the place for you! read more

My husband and I stopped by on a road trip after seeing the previous reviews. We were pleasantly surprised by the inviting and put together decor once inside. We ordered the pulled pork, and the chicken dinner, the waitress was very friendly and we were given several options for substitutions for sides. Both meals were excellent, the macaroni salad that I chose with mine was well balanced, with fresh peppers and tomatoes. The pulled pork sandwich was a balance of tangy and sweet, with slow cooked pulled pork. The chicken dinner was incredible, especially for 7.99. The outside of the chicken was crisp, seasoned, and the chicken was cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes were fluffy with a chicken gravy that was definitely homemade and also very good. At the end of the meal we were given free cake for customer appreciation day( I believe it happens every Tuesday). It was an amazing carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, everything about it was perfect. Soft cake and creamy frosting. If we didn't live over nine hours away we would be back frequently ! A small diner like atmosphere. You seat yourself but no one told us that until we asked, even though 3 different staff members walked past us multiple times . The menu is large with variety but the food was meh. One of the specials was the Mac and cheese with lobster. Had a few bites with shell in it. And the mac n cheese tasted like it came from a box. The shrimp scampi was mediocre and the shrimp Alfredo came without broccoli. Spaghetti and meatballs good. Haddock and baked potato- good. Squash and zucchini- ok. Too much pepper for my mother in law. The water had a weird taste and the tea was cloudy?! The waitress barely had a personality but was attentive. The bathrooms were clean. A few ceiling tiles were missing and the drop ceiling was sagging. I guess if your hungry enough this is decent place and considering it's just off the highway and in the middle of nowhere , you may need to stop anyway. The one redeeming quality was the desserts.
