Dr. Scheer and her staff are over-the-top fabulous. I first saw Dr. Scheer when my Lafayette optometrist referred me to her because my eyes had changed over the years, and no longer worked so well together, and he thought I would benefit from Dr. Scheer's expertise with more complicated situations like mine. Dr. Scheer was very friendly/approachable and took her time to make sure the prescription was right while she addressed my questions and concerns. Her prescription was dead-on, and for the first time in decades, from my car, I could see the crispy fall leaves on the street, standing up in in full relief (it was like watching a 3-D movie.) I had forgotten that things used to look like that. What a gift! Flash forward 3-4 years, and my eyes continued to change. When Dr. Scheer left Lafayette for Stockton, I found her on the internet, and, based on my prior experience with her, chose to drive to Stockton in order to be assured of having the best sight possible for me with updated glasses. Again, I was so happy with the entire experience. Dr. Scheer again took her time to make sure all was right, and her staff: Carol, Jennifer, and Cherise were equally caring and attentive to make sure my new glasses met my hopes for appearance and comfort (as well as vision.) Dr. Loo has been my optometrist for the past 40 years when he began his practice in his former office. He's very thorough and explains things and procedures extremely well and the necessity for performing each test. If there are any issues, he often requests you to return for another follow-up to monitor any further possible issues for your all over eye health. All the necessary tests gives him the information he needs for a complete examination. He also provides options for you if needed and why. I've been coming here for 3 years now and each time every staff member has been super friendly. Dr. Loo is my regular doctor and I think he's wonderful. He always remembers the little details from our last discussion, such as how my son is doing and how my job is going. Today, Dr. Loo had no availability so I saw Dr. Laurel and she was so sweet and also wonderful. I felt comfortable with her right away. Both doctors make sure you don't have any unanswered questions before leaving their room. I want to give a special shout out to Honey as well. While I was trying to pick out new frames, she let my 3 year old son sit with her and she talked to him, let him try on glasses/sun glasses, and colored with him. Any mother would appreciate her doing that since it's hard trying to look with a toddler following you around. She was super great with him and it made picking out glasses so much easier. Dr. Laurel called me back in while I was looking to do my final eye health check really fast while he stayed with Honey. When she walked me back out she made sure to walk over to my son and say bye to him as well. Every staff member makes you and your children feel welcomed. Went to find out they're selling contacts more expensive than Costco and other online contacts 30% + ,very unhappy . Then if I return they charge restocking fees. Drs are great but prices are expensive. I won't be buying my contacts here. My previous optometrist price match Costco for some reason I trusted this place to do same. But they didn't . Been coming here for over a decade, started when I was 16. I don't have vision coverage anymore so I visit less often. Still great location, atmosphere, and staff. Dr. Demshar retired so I tried Dr. Vanover. Great doctor, answered all of my questions, and did not rush my exam. My compliant is with the contact stock. I broke my glasses and needed an emergency pair of contacts to get through work. Walked in and asked if I would be able to get a sample pair after explaining I just did my exam and optimal a week prior and the details of my situation. Was asked if I had ordered contacts through the practice, told them no. (I have to pay out of pocket so I order online) They told me I would have to purchase a box in order to receive the sample pair. I agreed but they didnt have the sample or the boxes in stock. Cmon, you guys are in Brookside, I honestly expect better. There's a reason I haven't switched but this made me so mad! read more

Poor customer service. I will not be a returning customer nor will I refer anyone. Purchased my glasses in 2011 and recently it broke. Went there to be helped by a lady who was not helpful at all. I was advised that because it was no longer under warranty that she would not be able to fix it. She did not even bother to try to offer me any other options. I knew beforehand that I would probably have to pay considering how old they were. But unfortunately I was simply turned away. Really upset bc they are my only pair of glasses. Now I am in search of a new place for my new pair of glasses. read more

I have been coming here for several years. I always see Dr. Rosemary Melrose. She is very nice and caring. She is compassionate and always try to know you not just professionally but in a more personal level. She is thorough and always ensure that your issues/concerns are taking care of. As a patient, it is always scary to go have yourself check for any medical issues but having a compassionate Doctor will keep you at ease and that's why I like Dr. Rosemary. I also see her husband when she is not available because she only works during the weekdays. They don't have an Opthalmologist but they refer you to the Dr. Zeiters, which I went to for more thorough evaluation. However, I love to come here still even though I have go to another practice to see a Specialist. The staff here are also nice and friendly. They are patient with you when you need to pick a pair of glasses. You can by during to browse their glasses before go in to get your eyes checked. But try not come on weekends because they are really busy. read more

The optometrists are great but purchasing new glasses @ this place is discouraged. Too much of a meat market & little confidence in the personnel selling glasses. Upon asking to straighten a pair of older glasses which was brought here; staff said they might break them. Hummmm. Thinking about that statement a bit, makes me reconsider the purchase. read more

I am extremely impressed with the professionalism and services that I have received from the Brookside Optometric Group. My son, Joshua is usually anxious anytime he has to go to the eye doctor because he hates getting the eye drops. However, he is especially fond of Dr. Yolanda Scheer. Dr.Scheer is patient with him while doing his examinations and explains to him in details about what to expect which I've noticed has relieved his fears and anxiety about coming to the eye doctor. I've been going to Brookside Optometric since I was a kid and now as an adult I am always happy with my experience here. It can get busy in this office, but as long as you have an appointment you will not be kept waiting long. I've been seeing Dr. Truong for a few years now and he is wonderful. I always feel like my time is valued and that my eye health is his top priority. Absolutely love this place. My old doctor was in Lincoln center (complete nightmare office) so coming here to brookside optometric group was a huge sigh of relief. The front desk girls were nice I think (they were busy) but Dr. Winnick was great. I'm normally not a fan of any male doctors in any profession but he made me feel comfortable and skipped the awkwardness. AJ was also great and helped me pick out a pair of frames. The office is big and busy in a safe neighborhood. I was pleased that they handed me a postcard as a reminder to post a review. I like that the business cares what clients think and encourage their employees to ensure great customer service and care. read more

I have been coming here for a few years. I get the best and honest advise, service and treatment, (when needed). Bob Melrose, is who I see there. His chair side manners are great, and he genuinely cares about his patients and there well being. Some doctors sell you on things you may not need right...Dont get that from him or his office at all. Some doctors leave you feeling like you were rushed, or still have questions, but you dont want to ask anymore because you can tell they are in a hurry to get you out of there office so they can see the next person. More patients, more money. Not here. Bob's funny, caring, and actually spends time with you and makes sure all of your questions are answered before you leave. Lets face it we all want our questions answered and ask why, or how right. They will take the time and answer them for you. You actually feel like a patient there and not just another dollar symbol waiting to be seen. How many times have you felt you need to go to the doctor and think I am not going to waste half my day waiting to get in because they are over booked. We all make appointments at the doctors office, and what....wait, wait and wait some more for our name to get called. I think I waited maybe 5 minutes. Always a great experience when I am here. I called to make an appt with Dr Demshar at the early part of Jan 2017 for a Saturday the receptionist was checking then came back and informed me that I can make an appt for Feb 18th which I has hesitant but I said that is the earliest she said yes, now that I have thought it about it I'm thinking about canceling and going else where. Another thing about this place is that in the past when I have scheduled an appt. They have called me and left a message and said that they have a cancellation to call them back, and when I did they told me that it has been already taken. Wow really! And now what makes matters worse is that the insurance that I have does not cover Brookside Optometric so I have been paying out of my own pocket. read more

They block off more than enough time for whatever you need and you dont have to hassle with your insurance at all. They take care of everything for you. I love getting my contacts with them. I was a first-time patient of Dr. Josephine Vo's this week and I could not have been more amazed with this office. Setting up a new appointment over the phone was easy, I got in and was greeted right away, was given the paperwork I needed, not 5 minutes after I finished the paperwork I was taken back to get my eyes examined. Dr. Vo was very friendly, asked a lot of good questions about my life and about the reason for my visit without making it seem too stiff. I was examined, my eyes were dilating while I was choosing my glasses, then over to the financial desk to pay for my appointment then back to Dr. Vo. I think they used my time and theirs very efficiently and I would certainly recommend this place and Dr. Vo to a friend. We'll see how my appointment to get my glasses and my check up down the road go but I am very pleased. read more

I've been going to Brookside Optometric for a few years now and I've always had great experiences here. I've been seen by Dr. Hisaka, Dr. Tran and Dr. Fujii and they are all great doctors, they each are very thorough and take there time getting to know you. They also have a huge selection of frames its almost overwhelming I've never seen such a wide selection in any other office. The technicians are very help and patient helping you select a new frame..which can be hard especially since ill be wearing them for a year! Overall great office I highly recommend them! read more

I had been going to Dr. Kurt Skinner before he became part of Brookside Optometric, when I was only 13 years old with my mother and father. He is a great doctor and my husband loves his wife Dr. Su. But I will be seeking a new eye doctor after my last visit there this year. The doctors are great, but they like to add additional stuff to the glasses that you really honestly do not need. Glare protector from the computer I have never had glare on my glasses. When you opt not to take the add ons the staff get rude. The staff that handles you after the eye exam work on commission so if you do not buy the upgrades or the expensive glasses that they pick out you become this bad guy and they push you off. My mother the last year of her life went there to get her glasses ( she also was with Dr. Skinner for years) when she told the girl look I have cancer and know I dont need expensive glasses because I have this amount of time to live, they litterly pushed her out the door with out picking anything out. The office staff is rude, unprofessional, they do not know off hand what insurances they take, they take forever to get back to you. When my mom did pass they called six times to schedule her an eye appointment kind of hard when she is ashes, I told them each time I have advised you that she has passed. Oh well why did not you not tell us that the last time we will mark the chart. Really??Because you didnt mark it the last 5 times. I refuse to go back. They are over priced, rude staff and the only thing that makes they half good is the fact they are open on the weekends. Other then that i would not take my dog to them. read more

I have waited quite a while since my appointment to review. I was hoping that waiting a couple of months might change my opinion. Unfortunately, it hasn't changed. I have been visiting this practice for many, many years. Over the years, I have become more unhappy. It is like a car dealership. Very high pressure from the girls helping with frames. During my last visit, I told the girl what my frame budget was. She kept handing me frames at least $50 above what I could pay. She tried to get me to add every type of coating, fancy plastic, tint, etc. I have no insurance and try to buy glasses within my budget. I don't know if the staff that helps with frames are on commission, but it sure seems like it. The office staff (not all of them) but several are dressed like cocktail waitresses in very unprofessional attire. This is a doctors office, not a bar. I will find a new eye doctor next time I need an exam. read more
