    Fiancé complimentary drinks!

Finished our honeymoon with dinner here by referral from a local. Delish steaks and drinks, the vibe and ambiance is cool, small and speakeasy-ish, my only con is there weren't a ton of choices for apps/salads and it seemed a little unorganized when we were sat and orders being taken. However, they did offer comp drinks for our honeymoon and food was good.

We weren't sure what to expect when we walked in but were immediately put at ease. The staff was attentive and easy going. We ordered an Old Fashion and a glass of Prosecco. Then the Oysters, which were superb. A little sweet and salty and very fresh. The we ordered the Cote de Boeuf (Medium Rare of course) to share with the Wild Garlic Butter, Bernaise sauces and the Gruyère Black Truffle Mac & Cheese and Chargrilled Broccoli. This meal was perfection...every bite was delicious and unique, yet paired perfectly with each other. We ordered a bottle of the house red, which complemented the meal exactly. For dessert a glass of Tawny Port and the Eton Mess. Light and fruity and a excellent ending. If you're debating on where to go for an excellent meal in Dublin...go here.

The All In Roast for 2, comes with Mash, Gravy, Yorkshire Pudding, Cabbage and Carrots

Our first meal in Ireland and it was so good. Sunday's are for roast! Brookwood serves their special roasts on Sundays. We tried the "All In" roast for 2. Which consists of organic Irish chicken, rib of beef, belly of pork, mash, gravy, cabbage, carrots and Yorkshire pudding. My favorite starter was the seared scallops. It came on top of cauliflower purée and then sprinkled with black pudding sausage. Brother-in-law wanted to lick the plate! Lol. Yes, they accept card.

I went here for lunch on a work do so the drinks were flowing. I had a red wine which was really easy to drink. The boys were ordering beers with 9% alcohol! And I tasted the cucumber cocktail which was really good. Had a nice kick to it. I had an unusual salad with feta cheese and chickpeas to start. It was a great choice. Really big portion so when my big rib eye steak, greens and paprika fries arrived I was already sort of full. A couple of people ordered the 28oz porterhouse steak as a challenge. They needed a lie down after! My steak and sides I could not fault. Staff were very attentive. Topping up drinks all the time and checking if we were ok. We had reserved a hip feeling room with its own bar upstairs. Bathroom is impressive with a big bunch of lillies. Cool New York vibe to the place. Would love to go back.

Went to Brookwood yesterday for my boyfriend's birthday, had seen the Sunday roast mentioned in a Buzzfeed article on the most delicious dishes in Dublin and having checked out the website, really loved the look of the place- all 1940's speakeasy - and thought it'd be a nice alternative to the typical Sunday brunch. Having booked the restaurant, I then came across a voucher for a half roast for two people with 2 cocktails on the Taste.ie, having been stung before by using vouchers with some restaurants treating you like a second-class citizen when using them, I was a little wary of purchasing one for this, seeing as it was a special occasion. However, the staff at Brookwood honestly couldn't have been more accommodating and the service was really outstanding, my fears really were put to rest from the moment we arrived, they honestly could not have looked after us any better. As a party of five and having two vouchers which entitled us to four cocktails, they even threw in an extra drink for free, which we were not expecting at all but very happily accepted! The food was on par with the service, the roast for four people was an epic affair - big juicy slices of medium rare beef that melted in the mouth served with big, airy Yorkshire puds, creamy mash (we suspected equal ratios of butter to potato haha), beautiful roast veg and potatoes, gravy and a horseradish sauce so good that I am now a convert, not being at all keen on it in the past. Seeing as some of our party had been on the sauce the night before and we were all pretty schtarved we included some sides to the feast (pretty unnecessary really but the hangover had to be fed!!). The onion rings, parmesan chips and creamed spinach were all outstanding. If I had one quibble and it honestly would be tiny, it would be that the side dishes with the roast and the extras we ordered could have been a little hotter for my taste - but that really is me nit-picking!! I really enjoyed the fact that the food was served up to be dished out communally, it's a nice touch and makes the experience a little more fun. Along with the excellent food and service, the décor and vibe of the place is really cool too, from the heavy ornate water glasses that looked straight out of Mad Men (surely the glasses of Mr. Draper et al. would have held a little whiskey along with the water though haha) to the chilled tunes and great cocktail bar. Brookwood, I will be back, hands down the best roast I've had (bar the Mammy's of course!).

    Pork belly appetizer

I don't always give 5 stars, but by god this restaurant earned every one. My husband and I came in here after a day of shopping around town. We totally meant to arrive in time for lunch, but (yeah for me, not for him), we spent too much time shopping and didn't arrive until around 5:15pm or so on a Saturday. Of course, because it was so early, we were the only people in the restaurant. We were told we could sit at the table till 7pm, because the table was reserved at that time. However, they informed us that when 7pm came if we were not done, they would be happy to move us to the bar at the window. We though, sure, sounds great! We started off with the pork belly and the steak and blue cheese salad as our appetizers. The salad was fantastic; the perfect balance between sweet and savoury. Also, the salad was significantly larger than I was expecting it to be. The pork belly was also very good, and was served with a honey mustard type of sauce. The pork belly was a bit smaller than I was expecting it to be, but still very good. For our dinner, we decided to split the porterhouse steak with a side of garlic mash and truffle mac and cheese. We ordered our steak rare, and it was brought out, sliced, on a hot cast iron skillet. We had to hurry and get our pieces off the plate to prevent them from cooking the steak more. The presentation was neat with the skillet, but I would have honestly preferred it had been plated differently for that very reason. The garlic mash was good, not too much garlic, and the potatoes were nice and creamy. The mac and cheese was also very good. There was just a hint of truffle, it wasn't particularly strong. So if you're nervous about the truffle, no need to worry! I was so full eating all this food, I couldn't even finish it all, but my husband was happy to take over and help! We didn't have room for dessert, but instead got drinks. I opted for the drink that comes with the yelp check in offer (unfortunately I've forgotten the name of the drink). But it was really nice and refreshing. I could see myself ordering this on a hot summer's day (the one time a year that happens in Ireland). I can't wait to come back to this place, it'd be great for a date night or a treat yourself dinner. They also do a sunday roast which I really want to come back and check out.

What a great steakhouse! I hadn't heard about Brookwood before and when a friend suggested we go there for a dinner on Friday night I didn't know what to expect. Well now I have a new favorite Steak joint in Dublin. This place is awesome. The staff are extremely welcoming and courteous and the atmosphere is very comfortable. The decor is pretty cool and make you feel more comfortable than out of place like a lot upper end steak places can do. We ordered starters and mains to split. The stuffed potato was great and felt like a meal in itself. For mains we got a rib eye steak that we split along with Spinach. My steak was really good but I tasted my friends Fillet Mignon which I would say was one of the best cuts of meat i'ver ever had. There was also a Yelp check in offer for a cocktail. I would love to go back and test the cocktail menu in the future.

    Open faced Sandwich...

After a pretty intensive job interview my partner decided I needed something amazing to eat - enter Brookwood... There was a special listed on the chalkboard steadied upon the pavement which read that there was a special of some kind of Pork Sandwich. When we got inside the chef said that this was actually Beef. Beef is good. Beef is better than Pork...by a longshot. So we ordered two amazing open faced sandwiches, a basket of chips and a pea soup which was greener than your neighbours face if you told em you won the lottery. Disguised respecfully into the mix were 2 glasses of mind altering Malbec. After just a few sips all of the stresses of being the perfect candidate simply floated away. What did linger though waa the taste. The sandwich was delicious, in fairness though it would want to be. It was above average in price but above average in quality. it is imperative that there is a correlation between these two factors at all times when judging a meal. Its pretty nice here to be honest. Id imagine that the dinner menu is to die for. There is a lot of love and care injected into the food prep here. So if you fancy pushing the boat out a little for your lunch give Brookwood a whirl whether you're a boy or a girl.

We came with the 30€ voucher, which was a cocktail and roast dinner meal. I have to say it was a fantastic meal. Great value. The food and service was impeccable. Excellent cocktails, nice and strong. Also, check in and get a free cocktail. (The terry) a lovely refreshing cocktail. We will definitely be going back, with friends. The voucher is great value. (Voucher was bought on taste.ie) Great value, fantastic service.

I visited Brookwood based on the good feedback I'd seen online but had a pretty bad experience to be honest. Found it overpriced (paying €1.50 for ketchup or mayo?!) and my fish main was awful. Partner got the burger which was good. Dessert of sticky toffee pudding was terrible too. Have heard good feedback on their steaks but I personally wouldn't bother returning based on my previous visit.

This is their second location after the original FX Buckley on Pembroke Street opened in the 1980s; but the Buckley family has been serving premium cuts of Irish beef since the 1600s! The restaurant's interior leans into rich, warm tones with dark woods, leather seating, an open kitchen, and an atmosphere that feels both refined and approachable. Make sure to check out the massive dry-aging fridge in the front of the space, where scarlet-hued meats are displayed through transparent glass panes. We made a reservation for 4 at 6:30pm on a Sunday night through OpenTable, and the restaurant was about half-full when we arrived, but filled up throughout the course of our meal. Our server immediately brought over a tray of their six cuts of meat (all 100% Irish and dry-aged for 28 days), including ribeye, striploin, filet, and variations on the bone. Additionally, there's chalkboard graphics on the wall with detailed descriptions of each cut, which was very helpful in our selection. All steaks are cooked in their signature Josper charcoal ovens, lending a lovely touch of smoky flavor. The menu reads "classic steakhouse", with plenty of different cuts and weights of steak, refined starters, plenty of sides, and a variety of options for non-beef-eaters. We also appreciated the fact that each steak comes with your choice of one of three sides (chips, mashed potatoes, or salad), as well as your choice of sauce (bernaise, bone marrow jus, garlic butter, or pepper sauce). Additionally, all steaks on the bone are served with crispy fried onions. Their wine list is highly lauded, with bottles from all around the world, and a master in-house sommelier. As two members of our party weren't too hungry, they split a Caesar Salad (€13) and the Free Range Chicken (€29) between them. The Caesar Salad was a fresh salad of lightly-dressed, crunchy romaine lettuce, topped with an almost snow-like shaved Parmesan, and Crowe's smoked bacon. The variety of textures and flavors made this a surprising hit. The chicken was tender and juicy, served with a rich truffle cream sauce and salted kohlrabi, as well as your choice of side (she chose the Sauteed Chestnut Mushrooms with Watercress, which were so tender that they cut like butter). While we found the portion of chicken to be a bit small, the ability to choose your own side (which are normally €7-8 on their own) was much appreciated. My brother opted for the 22oz Ribeye on the Bone (€90), which was a hefty portion of well-marbled ribeye on a dramatic tomahawk bone. It was cooked to a perfect medium-rare, with a signature reddish-pink center, and paired nicely with their sharp Pepper Sauce. His Beef Dripping Chips were thick-cut steak fries, with a delightfully crispy exterior, and a pillowy soft interior. Lastly, the fried onions tasted like an elevated version of French's Fried Onions (bringing back memories of Thanksgiving green bean casserole). I chose the 16oz Striploin on the Bone (€49.50) - one generally wouldn't associate the word "value" with a top-line steakhouse, yet this was truly a steal of a dish. Cooked to a perfect rare (cool red center) with a decent amount of marbling, yet still incredibly tender, this was one of the best steaks I've ever had. The bone marrow jus tasted like a rich gravy, yet not too decadent for the sumptuous steak. I chose the Organic Leaf Salad as a side, which was an assortment of mixed leaves, thin-shaved carrots and onions, and a tangy vinaigrette; I appreciated the lightness of the dressing when paired with the meat. We were so full from our generously-portioned entrees that we couldn't fathom ordering dessert, though some of their options were quite tempting (particularly their Bailey's Espresso Cheesecake). Additionally, their Sunday Roast (€29.50) is a much more affordable way to sample some of their Irish meat, though note that it's only served between 1-4pm on Sundays. If you're in the market for a proper steakhouse experience in Dublin with quality ingredients and thoughtful execution, looking no further than FX Buckley!

Smokey flavor, it was great. It came with huge steak fries, I prefer shoestring. The steak was not tender. Had a better steak sandwich at the Morrison for lunch. All in all, I will not be going back nor recommending this place. The wine I ordered never arrived, our water was never refilled. In fact, after the food arrived, we never saw anyone again!! When the check came with an obligatory 12.5% tip I missed it and paid. Once I noticed, I flipped out!! This was the worst service ever!! I double check tipping culture in Ireland before I complain. 10% is good for good service and bad service is ok to leave zero tip. So I asked for it back. They gave me credit for the tip but not the tax on tip. Unimpressed. Won't go again.

The meal and service were fantastic, but I'm not sure this would rank in my top steakhouse experiences. Our steak was not cooked medium rare - it was almost medium well. While everything was delicious, nothing stood out as unique other than the bread. That being said, a similar experience in the states would cost two times as much (think Morton's or Jeff Ruby's). The bread was fantastic, as were the scallops. As a southern American, the creamed corn was fantastic and as authentic as I've had anywhere (including the south). Our servers were incredibly attentive and the venue was beautiful. If you're from the USA... I'd pass and leave the experience to European tourists who want the American steakhouse experience. No complaints, just not what we typically look for when traveling international (which is entirely our fault). This is a very post place and reservations are a must.

It's been serving traditional Irish fare since the 1980s and has become a favorite stop for both locals and visitors looking for classic comfort food. After about a 20-minute wait, we were seated in the warm, inviting dining room. Susan ordered the mussels, one of her favorites, while I went with the Traditional Irish Stew and my daughter chose the Braised Beef & Guinness Stew. Both were exactly what we hoped for: hearty, flavorful, and perfect after a day of sightseeing. I finally understood why the Guinness stew had such a rich, dark color, and I have to admit, I came home a big fan of Irish stew. We finished with the Homemade Bread & Butter Pudding topped with fresh cream and custard, a comforting dessert that was the perfect ending to the meal. Service, atmosphere, value, and food were all five out of five. We also enjoyed chatting with the floor manager, whose pride in the restaurant and his team was obvious. The mash was too thick and chunky, the bangers were bit overcooked. The mussels was disappointing, seafood chowder was ok. The restaurant is located on the second floor. We made a reservation, but was asked to wait while they cleaned up the table. Unfortunately, the table they wanted to seat us, the folks decided to have a long after dinner conversation, thus we ended up waiting longer than expected. Then they seated us at a larger table after waiting 15 minutes or so. The service was decent... wasn't fan of tipping request, EU needs to stop adopting USA's stupid system :)
